  • Balmoral Castle has been the home of the British Royal family since 1852. During his time with The Royal Household, Grant visited this castle and estate on many occasions as well as visiting the castle as a child with his parents and brother. Grant shares his memories and experiences at Balmoral.

loving and loyal, thats a laugh, he tried trademarking "The Royal Butler" and even
lied and said he'd been given the right to trademark it and got a shock when our late Queen took legal action against him and she won
      he was denied the trademark
he's not loyal to our royal family
the loyal ex staff are the ones who don't talk about them
Grant Harrold makes money out of them

Its so wonderful that The Queen has kept so many of the traditions going, she's been marvelous as a Queen..no other person could have done all She has done..its so sweet that youve been so passionate about the Royal Family from being a young Lad. You were meant to do all these things, right place at the right time 🤗

@@joyrees7966 traditions are traditions...so what. The Royal Family have evolved, via Prince Phillip and the Queen herself..your stating this as an accusation...theres nothing wrong with the Traditions that they uphold..if they hadnt evolved it would be like living under Henry the 8th...get over it..

Thank you Grant. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful narrative of Balmoral. I could picture it all. You looked so dapper in your kilt 😍 My father and I missed Camilla by an hour or so when she visited the Whittington Hospital in Islington last week. I would have loved to have seen her. How lovely that you got to dance with her and also The Queen. Wonderful 🌸

His enthusiasm & affection for the Royal family is infectious & the kindness of the Duchess of Cornwall & Prince Charles confirms what I've heard. How sad they were not allowed to marry when they were young; it would have saved much heartache & Camilla was purer than the driven snow compared with Harry's wife.

Such a shame they knock down theses old castle or buildings.
My father worked in a beautiful grand old place called the towers in heybridge in Essex.
It was made totally from solid concrete and they had to blow it up to demolish it.
Sad to see theses historical places disappear.

I loved this Conversation with the Royal Butler so much! I looked forward to it since the trailer! I got my coffee all ready this morning to sit and watch! Such a FANTASTIC story. I kept smiling and I had some giggles with ur wit and the experiences u recalled! What struck me most was how ur dreams came true, and all while I watched I knew I wanted to say that to you when I commented. Then u said it!! Twice!! You followed ur dreams and made it happen! From watching all of the vids, it is clear to me that from such a young age u KNEW this was ur place, and u saw the honor and privilege of this calling. I saw in Country Home, ( or House sry! ) when u first started, that same beauty of ur innocent and authentic pursuit. The Royals must have been so grateful for ur loyalty and benevolent zeal to look after them. I’m so happy for U! It is wonderful to see ur blessings and ur grateful heart, that’s why I believe ur good fortune happened and continues to mark ur life. Thank you for sharing these memories, I will be keeping my peepers looking out for the next conversation!!

I agree with you, the old castle was quite pretty (more so than Balmoral, which is very attractive; I've always liked that Scottish Baronial style).
I'm under the impression that the west coast of Scotland is a bit wetter (rainier), while the east coast is a bit colder. Is this incorrect?
Of _course_ the Duchess and the Queen would want to dance with you, such a cutie, and especially eye-catching in your kilt suit. (Sorry, but you can't look so nice and be so gentlemanly yet expect us older ladies not to notice.)
I really enjoy your gentle stories and personal reflections. I like that you let us see the human side of the royals, such as the Duchess of Cornwall in this episode, while remaining a man of honor. Please share if you can about the "lesser" royals such as the Gloucesters and Kents, the Armstrong-Joneses, and all of the Queen's children and grandchildren. I particularly admire the Princess Anne and Sophie Wessex (along with the Cambridges, of course).
Congratulations on making some of your dreams come true.

Wonderful video Grant. Your recounting was as I remember my experience as well. In 2003, I was fortunate to be invited to attend the Ghillies Ball by then Queen's Piper Jim Motherwell, who received gracious permission from the Queen herself. It was a unbelievable experience as I was also a guest for 2 nights. The Queen had a bottle of whisky placed on my dresser and asked me if I had received it...that's how sharp she was to detail. As a Piper, The Queen's Piper and I played round the dinner table and we piped the Royal Family into the ballroom as they descended down the grand staircase into the ballroom. I was able to dance with the Queen as well, very much like you described your own dance with her. We had a marvelous conversation later as she sent for me to have a chat. Our conversation was very relaxed and she was so kind and warm. As an American, it was unusual for me to have been invited so Majesty Magazine did an article about my visit. When she passed, I flew over from America to pay my respects in person as my respect for her is only exceeded by her generosity and my admiration for her.

@ Margie Loveland ~Hello! ..Your ancestors the McCutcheon's are known as the Mac Uisdein in Gaelic. They are related to Clan Mac Donald over on the Sleat Peninsula of Skye. The 14th Cent Dun Sgathaich castle has a lot of history linked to the MacDonalds, the McLeods and the McCutcheons connected to the MacDonalds. It overlooks Loch Einshort. There is also a strong Irish connection with the Gaels in the North of Ireland, lots of McCutcheon there. Many immigrants left the Isle of Skye for the east coast of the U.S, to New England, and Pennsylvania. Many others of the Scottish Dalriadan arrived in Canada, specifically Quebec, Calgary and Montreal. The Isle of Skye is very beautiful and ancient. I hope may visit one day. Gach durachd! Best wishes.

From now on when someone mentions Balmoral that will remind me of TRB with tartan in the Ballroom. I like that little bridge over the river.
