Every falling star by Sungju lee is an amazing memoir. It’s about the author’s experience as a 12 year old boy living in North Korea.

My favorite November read was "The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich." Truly a wholesome graphic novel. I literally turned around and made both of my siblings read it. 😂

Very late to this video but I highly recommend After the Fire by Will Hill, it's heavily inspired by the Waco Texas Cult situation and was one of my favorite books of last year. It was so tense and emotional but also fascinating to read about how cults really get into people's minds and stay there!

The Project by Courtney Summers is a great book featuring a cult. Highly recommend! Just picked up my own copy of A History of Wild Places and can't wait to give it a try.

Great video Jesse! I love Shea Ernshaw. I read The Wicked Deep and Winterwood from her and can't wait for A history of wild places! I totally relate with what you say about the predictable storyline. I came across that in The Wicked Deep but I loved the little hints she gave from the beginning and it didn't ruin it for me at all.

Great video Jesse! Would like to thank you for previously recommending The ocean at the end of the lane as I absolutely loved it, was an easy 5 star read for me. Amazing writing, characters, plot and brilliant illustrations (illustrated by Elise Hurst) just everything about it was brilliant...I even wanted to write an essay about it but currently have 3 reports for uni to do so it will have to wait ahah, thank you again!

I read 4 books in November. The one I would recommend the most is "That Self-Same Metal" by Brittany N. Williams. If you are interested in books about cults, I would recommend "The Servants of Twilight" by Dean Koontz

November was a very mid-tier reading month for me but my standout read by far was 'Hi Honey, I'm Homo!' by Matt Baume. Super fun & interesting non-fiction read especially if you enjoy books about television/media. 😋thanks for another great video, Jesse! 💖

JESSE! If you love cults, may I suggest Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism? I read it this year and was blown away by how fascinating it was. It dives into how cults use certain principals, and specifically language, to keep their members under control. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it given your interest in them (an interest I share, so no judgment lol)!

I read a lot of the Demon Slayer manga in November and honestly, I really recommend it to you Jesse. Such a good series. Also, a book I read not in November but in October that I think you would like is called Ask a North Korean. It is based on a column in a newspaper with the same name where people who have fled North Korea give their thoughts on how they adjust to being in the south

I read 4 books and 2 novellas in November. Tried to get more into classics but they just aren't really for me. Also I read Gallant and I really enjoyed it, though I get why people say there is a lack of plot. My favourite one though was Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer, absolutely loved that book, so much so that I decided to write my thesis about it as I was currently looking for a good topic anyway :D

I have an honest question about cults in books. How do you think the surge in cult books and interest in them impacts reality and people who engage with cults in some manner?
The surge in the popularity of true crime books has definitely impacted true crime in the mainstream and in people who engage with it so I want to know what people think about cult books

I had a bad reading month myself. I read 3 books with is average for me. But I didn't like any of them. I read:
Spring storm: blühender verrat & Spring storm: Dornen der Hoffnung by Marie graßhoff. These are German books (born Dutch, living in Germany, primarily language is German). I gave them 2,5 and 2 stars respectively. It just wasn't for me. I'm not a big fan of dystopians. And it was heavily advertised as lgbtq+ but there was barely anything. Creative concept with a poor execution.
And I read these twisted bonds : court of sun by lexi Ryan. I gave it 3 stars. It was just dull and boring to my and the main love interest was super flat and uncharismatic. Maybe that was the point I don't know. Currently reading court of moon and I'm not impressed
