    This is an excellent video! Thank you so much for the info!
    Spare parts information on Giant bikes is not the best. I was checking the Dealers Only Tech Manual and not even there apears the exact bearing sizes for spares -only the kit codes.
    So, if I understood correctly, if I want to replace all the bearings in the rear shock/pivot area, I'll need to buy 6 pairs of bearings:
    - For the lower linkage, I'll need 2 pairs of 6802 (lower shock mount & front of the lower swing arm) and 1 pair of 6902 (back of the lower swing arm attaching to the chain stay).
    - For the rock arm, I'll need 1 pair of 63800 (upper shock mount) and 2 pairs of 6900 (back of the rock arm attaching to the seat stay & rock arm frame pivot).
    Btw, on other videos they recommend puting the berings in the freezer for 1-2 hours before installation. Apparently that way it's possible to install them without a bearing press!!
    Cheers!

    Very good video made by you. I like that you explain very well and improvise different tools for extracting and pressing the bearing from the frame. Good luck and add more video! I enjoy cycling!
    With much respect and appreciation! Cosmin from Sibiu, Romania!

    Instead of using a hammer with the sockets, you can use bolts and washers to pull the bearings. This gives you a tool that finctions very similarly to the official tool.

    This is great video !! i don't have the same bike but similar with the trunnion mounted shock. 17:07 very useful ! it's actually pretty intimidating if you have carbon or some frames the mount look's so weak, that it's scary to remove bearings. You're video helped a lot with the anxiety and how to approach it.

    Great video. Can you list the bearing numbers and quantities in your video details section? Also, where is the best place to source replacement bolts and spacers for the upper shock mount to the Maestro trunnion? I just feel like I want spares of those.

      The bolts are all proprietary and you have to go through a dealer to get ahold of them.

    Attempting this myself tomorrow, just waiting for the replacement bearings to arrive. What I'd give to have that Maestro press kit! Rather than use a C-clamp though, I intend to use a piece of threaded rod with a nut on each end, with an assortment of washers and sockets to press the bearings back in. Wish me luck!

      Good luck, I have certainly used a threaded rod before. Just do whatever you can to keep the press tools from drifting

    Excellent video. Can you please tell me what king of grease you’re using to install bearings. Thanks

      @Nismocd88 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It looks like he is using the standard Park Tool grease 12:37 . I wonder if this is correct though. Pivot Bikes recommends using Loctite 609 Retaining compound to hold the bearing firm in the hole. Seems to be somewhat of a standard use for retaining compound from my limited research.

    If you put the bearing in the freezer for a bit then heat up the frame where the bearing is going to be seated it will drop in there nice and easily.😉

    Thanks for the posting this video. I have a 2021 Giant Trance X 29. Does it have the same size of pivot bearings? Is there a bearing set available for future replacement?

    • @richardsbikeshop5268

      Probably not. Currently, they have different kits for pretty much every variant. You can check the bearings manually or contact your local dealer for the kit

      I work at a shop and we picked one up in 2015. I haven't seen them for sale since unfortunately. Aftermarket-wise, I like park tool's pull-hammer style remover and wheels mfg press kit.

    Thank you for these Giant videos. I have a 2018 Trance Advanced 27.5. Apparently there are different versions of this kit. In the comments you said the shop purchased this kit in 2015. Your bike is a 2019. Did the kit work for all sizes of the bearings? Do you know what version of the kit you used? If I can find one to purchase I obviously want to purchase the correct version. Thanks again for any help.

    Hi great videos, I have maestro kit so all was going well BUT my issue is frame pivot bolt seized to bearing , was on both sides but some gt85 freed up one side but striking pivot with old bolt threaded in caused rocker to flex & crack! Ouch expensive mistake. Pivot still stuck on that side. Any advice to free it & how to prevent in future. I have another Reign, so I think I should take preventative measures there too, thanks

    • @richardsbikeshop5268
      @richardsbikeshop5268  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats a bummer. The trick is to support the area immediately around the bearing to reduce stress in other parts. The maestro kit i have is nice because it does that. Also, for stuck bolts, support the bearing and hammer the bolt. To prevent this, lube your bolts a bit more often. The grease forms a barrier between the bolt and the bearing race, preventing them from bonding.

    Yes but how are the cone washers oriented on the swingarm chainstay that attaches to the D link?

    • @richardsbikeshop5268
      @richardsbikeshop5268  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The large side of the cone washer faces the bearing and the small side faces the link. Thanks for the great question

    Are the bearings NR Snap ring groove in the outer ring, with snap ring. one forum said all bearings are for the Maestro 4

    • @richardsbikeshop5268
      @richardsbikeshop5268  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No giant maestro system that I've ever seen have snap rings on the bearings. I'm not sure where you heard that. If they exist, they are certainly not in any of the modern systems.

      Nope, all different sized. Some companies like Yeti use all one size bearings but Giant is all over the place.
