I really like the "collaboration" of you 3 awesome bass channels. Seems like I´m getting unbiased opinions from you guys. thank you very much for your videos.
I have just purchased this bass, I mean this actual one, today, the neck was a bit concave, I've straightened it, and it plays like a dream now, I found the sliding truss rod cover to be very convenient, hats off to LEL for the choice of pickups and preamp. I love it.
I have always loved the RD, TR and EX series of basses from Ibanez back in the day. As a matter of fact my fist bass was the EX400 that I still own. I agree that the headstock and body tend to shoehorn you into the rock metal genres. It’s looks a little silly showing up to a jazz trio gig with it in hand, but it would do the job if needed.
Pointy headstocks were all the rage in the late 80's and early 90's due to the hair metal scene. I don't know why they have made a comeback...or why Jackson never changed at all. Yeah...I'm that old.
My main bass is a SR-500 and I got it brand new from Andertons in 2016. I’ve never had to adjust the setup apart from a slight tweak of the trussrod when changing string gauge. It’s an absolute monster and I use it for the majority of my recordings and bass vids on my channel
I own a Ibanez Roadstar II RB650 bass I want a bass that gets me close to the Rust In Peace tone. The Ibanez RG305 sounds like a Jackson and I love it because Megadeth has awesome bass tones thanks to Jackson basses and Hartke amps.
I got one with labella flats, these sound great with flats. Im gonna get the 5er and put DR lo riders on it. I kinda like how aggressive the pickups are because it means i can set them flat, but if i need more its all there.
Looks like a copy of a cheap ass Jackson bass - one of my students had one in the 90's. Though i don't think Ibanez have to worry about bass competition from Jackson.
Personally it doesnt look outlandish to me, it just looks like an RG-shaped bass. Which of course, it is. I guess I just prefer the RG look to Ibanez’ SR shape. Then again, I wonder how one of these would compare to an SR300e or SR305e… How good would you say this bridge is? Is it solid, does it seem durable? I asked around on the SR Facebook group and apparently theres even differences between the SR305 and SR305e bridges. I just hope this one doesnt have parts that’ll bend easily like the SR305 did..
It's probably been a while since you've had this in your hands, but I'm interested to know if there was a noticeable weight difference between this and P-shaped basses. With the wood taken out of the horns and all.
I got a Ibenez Roadstar II Bass in 1987 it was a piece of junk. With they had offered this. I might have made it somewhere LOL. Where is it made and is it entry level?
This is made in Indonesia, its around 300-400 so I'd class as entry/intermediate level. Funny you say about the Roadstar, I've just reviewed a 1985 Roadstar II and it was fantastic. That one was made in Japan though, do you know where yours was made?

@Jonny Dibble ah no worries I thought he gave/sold you it, was going to offer to buy it off you. I bought one today from guitarguitar obvs stock pickups for now 👍
Yeah I'm never a fan of J bridges by themselves anyway! Better than the original at least. No need to apologise man, it's opinion at the end of the day ☺ Thanks for checking it out
@@JonnyDibble The Geezer P sounds great in your Squire though - as it should. I really love what Geezer did there - not just sell a signature pickup, but get EMG to bring back a classic pickup sound, that everyone can use.
I think there is a huge untapped market for retro-modern Bass guitars, some of the best high performance basses came from the 80s With the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal movement underway and a deepening nostalgia for all things 80s metal - there should be far more reissues of these great options. Not everybody wants to play a generic P or MM or damn Jazz 😒 those basses are a dime a dozen and look and sound just plain... Boring

I love it.
Allow me to 'point' out that the headstock is perfect for on stage social distancing.
Perfect for those lead guitarists 😇😈
WOOO! The long wait for the shipping companies to get their $h!t together was worth it. Great video my friend!
Classic courier conundrums 🥲 Fir the bass and the kind words, for that I thanks the 😘
Are you two having a lockdown hair competition? Asking for a friend
I've a RGB305 (5 String Version of this RGB BY Ibanez) in Matte Black. Love it so much, this is my "Take to the grave" Bass.
Glad you found "the one"! 😁😁

Yeah, Jackson have always screamed hair metal and glam rock! Clearly due for resurgence 🤘
Pointy guitars have always been cool in metal. 80s metal of all varieties has been having a resurgence over the last few years as well.

They are built like absolute tanks!!
I recorded our album using the 5 string version of this bass, monster. Great channel bud.
When he referred to this bass as “pointy”, I swear I heard my B.C. Rich bass laughing from inside its case.
The pointiest of all point basses 😈
@@JonnyDibble yep, you have to be a masochist to play them, thankfully I am ;)
I bought the Ibanez RGB305, and put in EMG P5CSX, EMG LJX and the BTS pre amp and love it all!

Wish we could order that bass with the upgrades because they sound mad! Never been able to bond with Ibanez.
Yeah! The foundations are there for a great modding platform. Me neither although I'm finding myself enjoying them more and more!
I have an Ibanez ex series bass it's nice that they brought it back sorta
Nice one! 😄
Looks like they noticed a certain company, which starts with J, had been copying their SR basses, so they said “Two can play at that game”
"That's a cool bass you got there. It's ours now."

Great review! Out of curiosity are those Jazz pickups? This Bass definitely caught my eye.
I love Ibanez basses. I played them for years and years.
Nice one! Which do you have?
Nice video 🤘. I wasn't feeling it.... And then you hit distortion. It's definitely made for the heavier side of life (which is a great thing)
Thanks! Yeah it handles distortion so well! 😍
Hi Jhony, are those pickups the Gezzer Butler signature ones?
Yep! I say details about that at about 1:45 😊
Wish they made a 5 string version. Could make for a fun platform for modifications.
They do make a 5 string version, looks like the ultimate metal bass!
@@NoahBassman nice. Ill definitely look into it.
They do a 5 string but just in black, it comes up in the screen when I'm talking finishes 😁
@@JonnyDibble my fault. I didn't notice. I swore i had checked into that, but evidently i didn't. Sounded great though 👌
@@t.j.meechan682 after much deliberation, I have decided that you are forgiven. 😝 Solud mod platforms fo sure! 😊
You made some good points, but I thought the shape was very cutting edge. It was very well setup without any of the notes going sharp.
Good "points" 🤭😏 Build quality is great!
Looks cooler than sounds awww. Maybe next time Ibanez.
Sounds much better with the upgraded electronics too!

From memory, its quite a light bass, lighter than a standard P but not so much lighter that I was concerned (if that makes sense?)
@@JonnyDibble Certainly. Thanks so much!
I asked a bass player page what anyone who's played one thought. One guy said, "1988 called and they want their testament tape back you borrowed". LOL

Best sound in all aspects... everything up at 11!
You can only achieve real tone when every knob on the amp, pedals and bass are up to 11.
Perfect bass for a racer-x cover band
Needs more flamboyance! So 80s 😍
This bass vs Squier Contemporary Active Jazz bass V HH. Which is better for Metal/Alternate Rock
Hi! Whilst I've not tried the Squier, Id say probably the Squier! It's got that amore aggressive modern scooped sound that really suits the genre 😊
@@JonnyDibble thank you
