This game may have not been perfect but something the game did right were the boss fights, they were scary and tense. The fight against the robot in the scrapyard still gives me chills.
I remember I was too scared to fight the sewer boss, but I was the only one in my family who could beat him. So naturally my cousins and brothers forced me to do the boss fight.
Well.. 19:35: This guys gonna shit ALL over your childhood fear by beating the HELL out of him in like 15 seconds :) hahahaha and yea dude. same here He was a pretty freaky boss too!!!! Those were definitely the two parts I remember sucking at the most!
I have been looking for this game for a while. I played this before I became a Star Wars fan. I couldn't remember the name of it. This video brings back so many memories of being a kid after school.
Lol, the graphics are so primitive compared to the new Star Wars games coming out. But still, at 5 years old, this was the shit. Gave me a lot of nostalgia watching this.
+James Robinson There was a special purple high damage weapon in this one spot that you had to find and use to beat him. It was almost impossible to beat him otherwise. Ahhh nostalgia.
I would really love if they ran this at the next marathon. I wanna hear commentary! Plus I wanna see a harder difficulty than easy! Jedi was ridiculously tough. Although the more I think about it, anything harder than easy would just be more time added... Simply just shooting the targets more. I dunno. This game was a big deal, my brothers and I had a great time playing it.
I want to see this run at AGDQ or SGDQ! This one of my all time favorite games and this run was great, especially the speeder stage. that stage is so hard to do going fast like that.
Vadagar Fair enough, I could see maybe wasting them the first time thinking they are going to seek the target, but he does it every single time, and not just with the seekers. When he gets the pulse it happens aswell. He just fires them all at once, landing maybe 2 out of 10 shots
This game was like the Battletoads of the N64. The first couple levels are fun but from there it gets hard as shit and requires memorization and insane nerves of steel.
+J Schippnick I beat it when I was like 8. Good game. I still remembered all the levels. And the sound of that assassins robot in the junkyard still gives me chills.
I am surprised to see that the only run of this is on Easy. I was expecting to see some Jedi runs on at least some of the levels if not the full game. Is it really hard or is it just not a game speed-runners like to run?
Anything above medium is a true test of patience. I beat it on Jedi but it was very very hard, in fact most of the time I had to downright corner-peak every enemy and spend ~10-20 minutes per level just to make it through without getting game over. The Gladiator Droid was obviously never tested on Jedi either, he's almost impossible. You have to wedge yourself in a corner and hope he can't shoot you, then shoot the part of his body that's exposed.
I did everything you did on my first play through.... -__- Tbh - thanks for making me feel like a noob, knowing that 3 months could have been accomplished in less than an hour.
Hey, I used that trick to beat Slave 1 when I was a kid. What a strange hitbox that thing has. Also, a shame that the N64 has such low resolution output. I would have liked to see this a bit more clearly.
Points lost for glitching through Gall Spaceport. Points gained for still running it in less than 10 mins instead of the normal 45+ it takes any sane individual.
Beaten Jedi, not Hard mode yet. Hard mode might actually be slightly harder because enemies have the most health in that mode. Was struggling with Hard mode Boba Fett when the power went out on me and I never took another crack at it because it's so frustrating. Easy is definitely "speedrun" mode, anything higher is much slower paced.
This is a great game, but the sewer level is too dark and hard to figure out what to do... I was hardcore into star wars when this came out, even read the hardcover book of this. Also in 1997 the updated versions of star wars came out in the movie theatres, and Episode I was coming out in 1999. That was a great movie, I dont care what the haters say, and this is a great game too. How can you not like everything star wars, its just the coolest franchise ever. The best sci fi, the best fiction. Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, all suck in comparison. :)
It's a glitch that only works on Easy difficulty. You kill the first biker and avoid the rest then quickly make your way through the town using the same path as the speedrun does. The AI breaks for whatever reason and slows to a snail's pace. The ability to pass the bikers instead of killing them all saves close to a minute.
During the start of a level you pull slightly down on the control stick and press L + R + Start. This sets the neutral position for the stick lower, allowing the forward range to be increased which just so happens to allow a faster running speed in this and some other titles.
Why? Everything is done within the confines of the programming. Speed running is about completing the game as fast as possible without anything beyond the game, the console, and the player. Everything else is fair game.
"This can include glitches, abusing in-game mechanics and skipping items or even playing events out of sequence." ^From the description. You'll have to deal with it, they speed run by ANY means necessary unless they specifically say they won't use certain tricks.
demonclaws3000 N64 doesn't output 1080p so you can't complain about the quality. Also don't watch it if you think it's a crap game, no one is forcing you.
This game may have not been perfect but something the game did right were the boss fights, they were scary and tense. The fight against the robot in the scrapyard still gives me chills.
This was one of the best games I have ever played. Or at least I remember it that way. So much fun.
One of the most fun and frustrating games of my childhood era. Use to play this a lot in elementary school when it came out.
This game is so unrealistic. The stormtroopers are actually hitting you.
It makes me really sad to see the glitch skips...
I'd like to watch a glitch-free speedrun.
Chr15Andr3w ...then get outta here.
one of my favorite all time games loved it so much
I remember I was too scared to fight the sewer boss, but I was the only one in my family who could beat him. So naturally my cousins and brothers forced me to do the boss fight.
What the fuck have you done to my childhood?!!
Does someone else stopped playing this for the monster of the sewers?
Absolutely yes. haha
I stopped during the ig-88 fight that was truly terrifying.
Well.. 19:35: This guys gonna shit ALL over your childhood fear by beating the HELL out of him in like 15 seconds :) hahahaha and yea dude. same here He was a pretty freaky boss too!!!! Those were definitely the two parts I remember sucking at the most!
That damn sound of that thing terrified me.
hahaha woompas stoompas scary too ... =( in 2nd level hahaha
I have been looking for this game for a while. I played this before I became a Star Wars fan. I couldn't remember the name of it. This video brings back so many memories of being a kid after school.
dude me too! after all these years i remembered it and how hard it was i only beat the junkyard level i love this game
There is not one part of this that I have forgotten. Played this for hours on end
LOLOL I died laughing at the jetpack glitch XDDDDD
I played this as a kid on my N64, back in the day. I loved this game.
God the memories. That music almost gives me chills.
Dash survived going full speed ahead into the Skyhook reactor core and blowing up.
Lol, the graphics are so primitive compared to the new Star Wars games coming out. But still, at 5 years old, this was the shit. Gave me a lot of nostalgia watching this.
I could never get past the assassin droid in the junkyard
+James Robinson There was a special purple high damage weapon in this one spot that you had to find and use to beat him. It was almost impossible to beat him otherwise. Ahhh nostalgia.
+James Robinson lol took me forever to figure out how to beat him, good times!
+James Robinson it was a scary bastard too!
+Caliizaktiv i beat it when i was a kid but it scared me so much
what took me 45 minutes as a kid, took this guy 3
This game scared me so much as a kid. It forged me into the man I am today !! Oh how the feels return
When I saw the rogue squadron speed runs go up I was thinking "pleaspleaseplease someone do shadows..."
What an epic idea to include that race in the desert. That was a tough level though.
By far the most impressive part of this run is that he never gets lost, these maps are all just huge labryinths.
Damnnnn brother. You obliterated that game. I spent soooo much time playing that game as a kid. Intense nostalgia.
Nice kamikaze at the end of stage 1 lol
I want to see this run at AGDQ or SGDQ! This one of my all time favorite games and this run was great, especially the speeder stage. that stage is so hard to do going fast like that.
James Rolfe needs to watch this. See James you need to shoot your seekers at the enemy. Not just randomly fire them all at once into the wall
Rofl this is what I was thinking when I watched his playthrough... 'stop shooting your seekers randomly into nowhere damn!'
Well in his defense they are called "seekers" what do seekers do ... they SeeK!
Vadagar
Fair enough, I could see maybe wasting them the first time thinking they are going to seek the target, but he does it every single time, and not just with the seekers. When he gets the pulse it happens aswell. He just fires them all at once, landing maybe 2 out of 10 shots
Its panic he doesnt wanna die ahhhhh :)
James is not speedrunning. They are showing if the game. And how it was to play them as a kid.
i loooved the snow speeder level. i used to play it over and over
One of my childhood favorites. Thanks!
This game is great. I loved playing it back in the day.
This is the most nostalgic thing I have ever seen
Ha, i want to see one speed run in jedi dificulty. THIS will be impressive.
Its already done look for it
Best opening stage of any Star Wars game ever.
Bout time we saw this run on the yt page. good shit to aleckermit
This game was like the Battletoads of the N64. The first couple levels are fun but from there it gets hard as shit and requires memorization and insane nerves of steel.
The game wasn't that hard... I beat the hardest difficulty no problem and I was like 13 when this game came out.

I never knew how massive these levels were. And its still difficult on easy. No days we are just spoon fed. Its lame.
I remember this game being a challenge :)
"Just one more pass - oh, wait. Never mind."
11:30 "Warning sharp turd!" Could of sworn that's what it said.
Man I played the hell outta this when I was a kid... Thumbs up if you remember the ridiculous cheat code input for this game.
Lemme guess, used your mouth or chin dint'cha?
:P
You bet I did! Only way I could do that stupid code!
Synbios Bowie Haha, yeah. Hold down every button with you fingers, then had to use your face to move the thumbstick.
Synbios Bowie OMG yes, totally had to use my face XDD
So much better when you had a friend. My brother and me could enter it in a few seconds...if both of us were around when playing that is lol
the swoop level is a lot more bright than i remember it.
I did everything you did on my first play through.... -__- Tbh - thanks for making me feel like a noob, knowing that 3 months could have been accomplished in less than an hour.
1996 and still better graphics then advanced warfare
Hey, I used that trick to beat Slave 1 when I was a kid. What a strange hitbox that thing has. Also, a shame that the N64 has such low resolution output. I would have liked to see this a bit more clearly.
Points lost for glitching through Gall Spaceport. Points gained for still running it in less than 10 mins instead of the normal 45+ it takes any sane individual.
Me pones enfermo en la cuarta fase, cuando el ferrocarril. ¿Que carajo estaria mirando en el cielo? ... menos mal que lo juega nivel fácil....
Looooove this game. Childhood 😍
I use to have this game and i liked the space level just after you defeated the AT-ST i thought the star destroyer was shooting at you
I never played this in first person view that I remember. Must be why it was so hard
26:00 Uh... excuse me?
LOL I only just heard about that glitch. Something to do about "confusing" the game's gravity physics by inverting your hit box.
Finally, a full let's play of Shadows of the Empire... No, wait...
Lol was there anyone who could actually jump over those barriers at Ord Mantell Junkyard?
What is the name of the species of the alien that the player fights at 16:01 ?
They look really cool and I want to know what they're called.
I would like to see a hard mode run in the future.
Beaten Jedi, not Hard mode yet. Hard mode might actually be slightly harder because enemies have the most health in that mode. Was struggling with Hard mode Boba Fett when the power went out on me and I never took another crack at it because it's so frustrating. Easy is definitely "speedrun" mode, anything higher is much slower paced.
so many good n64 star wars games.
Battle for Naboo was SOOOO Good! So was Rogue Squadron of course, but BfN was by far the best Star Wars game on the N64. SotE and RS are tied
This is a mix between Torak and Starfox 64.
Dash Rendar>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Starkiller. Can we finally give this game a sequel Lucas Ar.....errrrrr Disn.......you know what? Never mind.
Childhood right here.
More like childhood-teens right here.
fucking good job alec you did great
I was just thinking about playing this game last night o_O
Nostalgia goo is all over
Well I would have been terrified with ig88 boss but I couldn't get past the tram lvl.. :(
No soup 4 you LOL
This is a great game, but the sewer level is too dark and hard to figure out what to do... I was hardcore into star wars when this came out, even read the hardcover book of this. I wouldn't say the rest suck tho this is better
I like how the boss fights look absolutely laughable in this speedrun.
i'm wondering why the swoop gang all just stopped
It's a glitch that only works on Easy difficulty. You kill the first biker and avoid the rest then quickly make your way through the town using the same path as the speedrun does. The AI breaks for whatever reason and slows to a snail's pace. The ability to pass the bikers instead of killing them all saves close to a minute.
This game kicks enormous amounts of ass.
also do they upload 720p videos?
Is this game free cause I might Speed Run It myself.
Leon
holy smoked ig88
16:34 "Shut Up!
how do you run in this game
During the start of a level you pull slightly down on the control stick and press L + R + Start. This sets the neutral position for the stick lower, allowing the forward range to be increased which just so happens to allow a faster running speed in this and some other titles.
For some reason I was to scared to play the game ._.
Why on easy?
diod dash die anyonre?
I expected more than glitching and playing on easy.
BadEnding%
i was 5 and i could never get past the second level lol
I recorded shadows of the empire PC Version.
Check on my channel :)
Jedi Difficulty, all challenge points.
I had to stop watching this after the wall glitch. I'm all for speed runs but using glitches ruins it for me.
Why? Everything is done within the confines of the programming. Speed running is about completing the game as fast as possible without anything beyond the game, the console, and the player. Everything else is fair game.
"This can include glitches, abusing in-game mechanics and skipping items or even playing events out of sequence."
^From the description. You'll have to deal with it, they speed run by ANY means necessary unless they specifically say they won't use certain tricks.
Watch glitchless categories then.
That is just straight up CHEATING!
DAT QUALITY. Completely not enjoyable.
Also, this was a crappy game when it came out, and still is.
demonclaws3000 N64 doesn't output 1080p so you can't complain about the quality.
Also don't watch it if you think it's a crap game, no one is forcing you.
demonclaws3000 lol trolling or young kid. either way youre completely wrong this game was and is the bomb. the music and sf were the best
Meh. Anyone can speedrun on easy level. How bout you guys knock it up a few difficulty notches and make it a real run?
Anyone can drive a car, too... but not everyone can drive a car like an F1 athlete.
aleckermit there are a lot of spots where you could save time like when you hit the wall in the speeder level. Why dont you try and beat it?
What is this game and why does it look like the worst thing ever?
Sloppy! Stopped watching after you killed ig88
I did way better and was faster than this guy when I was five. Lol adult speed runners sure are sloppy. xD
Vali Lucifer ...Right.
