What a great video, thank you posting!! Long time UCS admin here, this is so helpful to see the differences with the UCS X-Series. Any chance we could get a video on what the infrastructure and server upgrades look like in the X-Series?
Glad it was helpful! Showing upgrades is a challenge with the type of access that I have. Firmware upgrades are fairly easy though. Create a firmware policy and select the new version then apply the policy to the profile. Intersight will download the firmware and push it onto the devices for you.
Great video, however I'm missing the steps before adding the Fabric Interconnects to Intersight. For example do you have to do it directly during the deployment or can you do it afterwards. Also connect them directly to Intersight or use the hub appliance.
When you deploy the FIs initially you get the option to set them up either for UMM (UCS Manager Mode) or IMM (Intersight Managed Mode). If you set it up for IMM, there will be a lightweight GUI that you access via each FI's management IP (no VIP in IMM) to access the device ID and claim code, which are used to claim the FIs in Intersight. If you have already deployed in UMM, you either have to wipe the FIs and redeploy or use the IMM Transition tool, but either way downtime is involved. Unless there is a limitation to internet access in your UCS's location, you do not need an appliance to access Intersight.
