From my perspective, Venezuela is one of the 3 to 5 most beautiful countries in the planet, and yet so unknown and underrated. This country has it all from landscapes, fauna and flora like no other country. This is the land of the tepuis which are the oldest rock formations in the world, Angel Falls (inspiration for Disney's UP, Avatar, Dinosaurs, Aracnophobia, Breaking Point, and many many others), Roraima, Margarita Island, Los Roques Archipelago, the Andes and giant glaciers, the Medanos in Coro (only sand dunes facing the Caribbean), and the longest stretch of the most beautiful Caribbean coast line. Plus great looking women!

What a great video! However, I notice many of the people in this expedition are wearing shorts an low cut tennis shoes. If they're concerned about all these creatures that bite (rattlesnakes, Bushmasters, bullet ants, venomous spiders, etc.) you'd think they'd dress more appropriately. I spent some time in the jungle of northern Colombia and I wore calf-high boots and canvas-like trousers, and long-sleeved shirts and LOTS of mosquito repellant. Wearing shorts and sandals in the jungle makes no sense to me at all.

Roraima and the other tepuis are such fascinating places that it would have been a lot better to have seen more of the animals and plants on the mountain and not so much of the trek. I know some will disagree with me, but I question the presence of a cryptozoologist on this expedition when an expert botanist would have informed us far more about facts instead of wild speculation. The aquatic cave cricket was fascinating and unique, but he dismissed it in his closing comments - isn't what's real incredible enough without chasing after fantasy? I'm glad Heliamphora got a look in (though it sadly was just referred to vaguely as a "pitcher plant", which is very vague as there are other groups of "pitcher plants" in other parts of the world - Cephalotus, Darlingtonia, Sarracenia and Nepenthes) but as one of the iconic plants of Roraima, it deserved more attention than it got. And I really feel that the endless clips of The Lost World were an unnecessary annoyance - the time wasted with them could have been used to see more of the tepui and its wildlife.

from known species of Reptilles and Spiders The rest is interesting but mostly for plant lovers. It is worthwhile to watch for young and older students, all very well shot with exelcent sound, a lot of which is clearly meant for us to overhear.

You missed the most fiercesome of the eel family. I ran into them in crab pots in the Bering Sea and knew them as Wolf Eels. They are a cousin of the Morey Eel, EXCEPT, they had a 4 - way jaw and a venom tooth in the back. They had a regular jaw, but the front canines and incisors were on a separate hinge. So the main jaws would bite and hold while the hinged teeth would continue to chomp away. Additionally, the jaws flex could pull inwards at the rear. Lastly, a separate boney pallet with a crosshatch pointy pattern would pulverize anything in the jaw's bite. So the eel would bite, tear the flesh as it pulled in the sides of its jaws, while the hinged incisors continued to cut at the front while the boney pallette pulverized whatever was in the jaws, all the while injecting poison. These fish were so spectacularly powerful in their bite we used to through things laying around on deck into its mouth just to watch what it could destroy.

In 1946 American Leonard Clark and Peruvian Jorge Mendoza descended the Perene River to the Tambo and then to the Ucayale River to become the first etnic Europeans to have crossed the Eastern slopes and foothills of the headwaters of the Southern Amazon basin.
