    The infamous Snyder interview from 1981 uploaded in full for the first time- Snyder spends most of the time chain smoking and goading Manson on in any way possible, while a somewhat sedated Manson rues having to talk.

      Are you aware that there are other interviews of Manson?
      Geraldo Rivera - 1988
      Heidi Schulman - 1987
      Diane Sawyer - 1993
      Charlie Rose - 1987, etcetera.
      You know the man was mad as a hatter, right? There´s no question you could've asked that would've rendered any insight into his mind, or motivations.
      Do you think Snyder asked the wrong questions? What question would you ask that you think this madman would ever give a straight answer to?
      I assure you that no matter what was ever asked of Manson he would only ever say exactly what he wanted to, whether his answer had anything to do with the question or not.

    When in college in the 80s I was doing a term paper on cult killings. I wanted to do a phone interview with Charlie. My advisor thought I was nuts to believe he would agree- but he got the address for me. Three weeks later got a note from the prison stating he agreed and a phone number to call. I called on the chosen evening, and the staff member said he knew nothing about an interview with him, and said he can not get him to the phone. Called a few more times over the next few days and went to an answering machine. Wrote another letter to the prison and no response. I was disappointed to say the least.

The words say "take care of yourself because life is hard", which is a totally fine thing to say to your kid, but the sentiment says "look how badly I've been treated by this world, don't let it happen to you", which is complete, utter bullshit. well, he did try and pin the murders on Susan, when it was Tex. She is of course partially responsible for 8 deaths that night, and there is absolutely NO excusing any of it. But everyone with an IQ above room temperature knows that guy was just a crook, capitalizing on tragedy and a mother's grief for her daughter. Still say Manson was the ringleader and did explicitly tell them to kill, but Bugliosi is a bottom feeder, that much is obvious. He had a vested interest in stoking hate and a lack of forgiveness, and boy did it make him filthy rich. What happened to Sharon was a huge boon to him. Disgusting, but it's the truth.

      i feel like so many ppl are nuts just like Manson. They can never realize the truth on almost everything in life is somewhere in the middle, in the grey. Did they probably do Manson wrong and build him into something he wasnt and completely fumble this whole thing, and all this other stuff thats held in contrary to the story for the mass public? Of course they did. But Manson was also a low down, piece of shit criminal that would likely deserve to be in prison one way or another, (like he always had been) regardless of his exact role in these particular crimes. Manson def had his role in it, but i will say he DID get railroaded for other ppls stupidity as well. But people dont want to or cant see the nuances in things, its either he was a psycho, mind controlling, voodoo killer and guilty.....OR hes totally innocent, used, set up and framed type shit on some batshit conspiracy theories. I mean come on lets get real. Regardless of his role in these specific crimes, this is a guy who has robbed, assaulted, cut, and shot people, and by his own admission. He's not some martyr you should look up to and idolize. Thats exactly what the people around him did and look where they ended up.

    This is one of Manson’s most honest and down to earth interviews. He actually seemed pretty even-keel. Instead of taking advantage of that, Snyder tried to bait him time after time. Snyder just wouldn’t let him answer anything. At one point he says Manson’s face is all carved up and his eyes are glowering. Snyder’s eyes were more mad than Charlie’s here.

      Double A Food Reveiw not all psychopaths are like this, in fact I doubt Manson is a psychopath. Y’all just use that as a buzzword for any criminal now. And for the record no you don’t have to be aggressive with a psychopath and you shouldn’t, if a psychopath is raised in an abusive home he will be very likely to go on and commit crimes, it’s actually the reason any psychopaths turn out to be criminals at all, unless there’s some other strange development in their brain chemistry. And regardless of what Manson is, being aggressive here obviously didn’t do shit, because we barely learned anything since the interviewer wouldn’t shut the fuck up. I’ve seen other interviews with Manson where the interviewer was calm and respectful, and manson actually talked like a normal person.

      You are right, not all psychopaths are criminals. And yes, other interviewers have been passive with Manson, and he has walked over them, filling their ears up with his bullshit. I believe Manson IS a psychopath. He clearly shows a grandiose sense of self worth, he is manipulative, lacks empathy, and is a pathological liar.

    • @uncleclem7381
      @uncleclem7381 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Also, you can’t exactly attribute psychopaths committing crimes to abusive home life. Yes, people like Ed Kemper, John Wayne Gacy, and Charles Manson all had abusive or hectic home lives. This may, especially in Kemper’s case, have skewed the difference between right and wrong. But people like Ted Bundy had otherwise normal home lives, and they still commit egregious crimes. Abusive households definately play a role, but people like Kemper exhibited signs of crime before his mother’s abuse started. This is attributed to his father killing a chicken in front of Kemper, and making Kemper eat it for dinner. That is not abuse; this confused Kemper because: “why are we allowed to kill these chickens but not the dog next door?”. Abusive homes plays a role, but a psychopath is a psychopath, and can still kill with no remorse.

    He has got to be the worst interviewer at this moment. He was trying so hard to let everyone know he is a tough interviewer but Manson really is way beyond him and isn't conditioned like Tom. Tom must have looked back on this interview with regret as he had a real opportunity to be one of the first to interview him and pick his mind. What a waste!

      It was a way of Manson simply saying that "word is" doesn't always have any relevance or truth to it. Im not saying that I support Manson. But his point was well made, yet obviously not worthy of consideration by the interviewer.

  • @chrisj197438
    @chrisj197438 7 ปีที่แล้ว +83

    He is a product of experiences early in life. In his time it was somewhat rare for a child to be born in his circumstances. At every point of his childhood those responsible for nurturing and protecting him failed him. He learned at a very early age to be empty and void of any feelings many of us take for granted. In today’s society Charles Manson’s are born daily and being released from prison just as fast.
