I wish we could've heard more acoustic stuff from Jimi. All I've ever seen are those two songs he did on that Zemaitis 12-string tuned down to C standard. Those were SO GOOD!!
Some Should NOT Speak when it Comes to that they Don't Overstand!! BAND of Gypsies was the MOST POWERFUL Album He MADE..."POWER of SOUL" (Which the SOUL Less CANNOT OVERSTAND!!)
LSD acid came around n the Experience was born n Hendrix became the king of hippie land but he wrote some creative material n plenty of it in a short time Robin Trower along with Frank Marino Mahogany Rush kept the Hendrix influence going throughout the seventies Eric Johnson n Stevie Ray Vaughn kept it going throughout the eighties Stings cover of Little Wing n countless tribute acts like Randy Hansen keep the sound resonating still today😅 It doesn't matter what format Hendrix music will live on forever n how long u hear the songs u don't get tired of listening to them😅
You see Jimi Hendrix was even called the Black Elvis because they need to compare someone. The Hey Joe song to me was the right song. It introduced him again with the color play. He’s not just a Blackman..It’s obvious a Blackman . I only heard Are You Experience. I mean Jimi was only doing the music they tried to colonized as their own.JIMI took it back big time. He was able to play for the majority without animosity because he was marketed that way. We always have to find away those days to appeal to the so called majority. Look at Prince did. He did the same formula. Appear blended in they are not scared of us. Crazy looking back. But with his skill set on the guitar he got over.
Never to be surpassed. No one could match him in the 30 years either side of his peak. Certainly no one is going to have anything near his talent in this day and age of packaged ease ,for as long as this planet lasts. He is the high water mark. Mitch is also a legend . Mike Jeffery is a twat
The two alternating notes in the intro to Purplse Haze are a Bb octave. There is also an anchoring E played with each strum. In standard tuning, it would be 6th fret on the low E (a Bb) played with the 7th fret on A string (an E), then alternate with the 7th fret on A (again an E) and the 8th fret on the D string (again Bb, but an octave up). Just alternate between those two diads.
He pushed Guitar vocab, 4ward. He did thangz, nobody else, has done. Bein nventive, wuz Mos Def, his 4tay. He wuzn't really about playing an E Diminished scale, super fast, & clean. Still, people who did dat later, were greatly nfluenced by his methodz.
Seems unfair to make musicians sign contracts promising to write new songs for a new album every 6 to 9 months or whatever it was. Also, pushing them to play concerts non-stop for months on end. It's too much pressure. But i understand about concerts. You have to go at it every night because it's a big machine with a lot of people, plus they're renting various things so every night (or day) you're not using it is money down the drain. But still, it kills the artists & performers. They need time off or the band will lose members or break up. The music will suffer. They develop health issues, some even die. The musicians and crew are often too young and have been raised badly so they do stupid things. Meh, ya only live/die once!!
LONG LIVE HENDRIX.😀
He was a very mutitalented man, his legacy lives on forever.

Oh dear, here come the list makers, and “don’t forget---“ Can we just give HENDRIX some love here. Is that okay??????
I'll argue with anybody the most important guitarists of the last 60 years were Hendrix and Van Halen. Pure soul.
IMHO Jeff Beck should be included. His continued growth and experimentation and natural talent was unsurpassed.
That's the only truth. But you forgot 1 other...Dimebag Darrell...who reinvented it in the 90's, making him the 3rd and final one.
@@OneOfUsHere Jeff Beck should be included
@@EzraDarrow Dimebag should definitely be included as well. Eddie thought he deserved the bumble bee stripe.
R.I.P Jimi Hendrix 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
3:52 you might want to include Funk rock in there too: Who Knows from Band of Gypsys live @ Filmore East.

Great doc. Shouldve picked a better bass player for Jimi.
Jimi ended up with Billy Cox his old army buddy.
The riff in Purple Haze isn't an octave, it's a Flat fifth...E to Bb

Was he a 'virtuoso' guitar player? Not by any stretch. Was he a musical genius who changed the electric guitar forever? Most definitely. Rip.
