The loop station battles are 100% prepared songs they have performed many times b4 or are premiering at the battle itself. If you check some of their older performances you will see the more raw versions of these songs, sort of while they are still in beta test form.

They practice a lot of these routines beforehand, so they have a lot of songs ready to go for these battles. I guess they just throw them out with the vibes of the opponent. Don't think I've seen many battles where they just freestyle, it usually doesn't flow right though.

He was the first person to bring a Helix Line 6 to an event, and no one knew how to judge it because it sounded TOO good, so he ended up getting voted out on some technicalities. His rounds sounded completely unlike what everyone else was doing due to the quality and clarity of his sounds and he's also just an incredible artist.
That judge with glases in the final round .. called Beardyman he is a Legend he is a looper too but he s improvising his music without any preparing .. u can check his videos specialy the old ones .. they re so stong

Their battle went to a tie-breaker, and Rythmind only won because So-So was very drained out from the event & Rythmind took advantage of it by making a sick beat to ease past him. And in the finals NME's first round is still considered one of the best loopstation pieces of all time, but his second round piece was trumped by Rythmind. Interesting thing was that he only used one looper throughout the whole competition while some others used more than one (and also some other sound mixers). Maybe because of that handicap he put on himself the judges preferred his pieces more than the others. Not saying that he isn't talented or undeserving but at first I was also a bit skeptical of him winning, so I can relate to what you said.
