    There should be a TV show of just Americans driving on British roads. It's mesmerizing.

    I love how nice the comments are. Always thought the UK had alot of pomposity but I realize now how wrong I was. Lots of good, considerate, and humble people in England.

    What a charming couple ! The speed limits in the UK is 70 on a motorway . That are like your Interstate roads . 60 on other roads, except when going through towns and villages . Where they are generally 30 . But you will sometimes a 20 mph usually near a school .

    I drive on roads like this every week as I live in the country.. but there are much narrower than these folks..try driving in Cornwall or parts of Wales where meeting an oncoming tractor is nothing short of a nightmare which usually means backing up and driving in reverse around bends and even sometimes uphill or downhill (Wales) .. I had to smile when you said how narrow the road was! I grew up in the USA in the 60's/70's and every time we came back to the UK for holidays to see the family, I remember my parents remarking on how narrow the roads seemed even though that was all they knew for their whole life... but you soon forget when you are driving on wide roads in big automatic cars as we did then! I hope you enjoyed your trip! :-)

    Thought you drove really well here. I'm American with family in the States and England. A lot of the rural roads are precarious and can be unsettling if you're not used to driving on the opposite side. Looks like you enjoyed your trip.

    A nice, jolly couple , the lady has such a lovely accent - we like Southern accents in the UK. Use to love the Barbara Mandrell show. If your unfamiliar, stick to 'A' roads if you can, ''B' roads are very old and unpredictable in width.

    3:09 "Do you need your sunglasses on? Oh! A little turtle or something just crossed the road."
    Yeah, signs along the side of the road will let you know which wildlife here in England use the roads. We have zebra crossings, cattle and sheep crossings, deer tend to cross anywhere they like, whenever they like, and turtles and other amphibians usually use the purpose-built underground crossings, but you must have seen one using the over-road pass.
    Throngs of turtles cross British roads all the time, usually early morning and early twilight. I'm sure you noticed the sign for 'snake crossing' at exactly 3:02?
    Hope you enjoyed your visit here?

    This is not a main road . It is a side road , what we call a, " B" road . You will have to remember, these road were in use a long time before the car was even thought of . Many have been in use for 800 to a 1000 years . Our main roads are called motorways and are just like your Interstate highways .

    As teenager with a car in England not all teenagers drive recklessly to impress others. Also the speed limit tends to be 30 in built up towns/ villages and the sign with the black diagonal line is the national speed limit, which is 60mph.

      expect for duel carriageways and motorways where its 70, still using the same sign.

    • @Replevideo
      @Replevideo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it's 50 mph on those narrow roads. The sign just means the end of the 30 mph restriction. After passing it the speed limit is dependent on the type of road you are on.

    • @richyspleen
      @richyspleen 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You only have to give way to emergency vehicles when they have the blue lights (or if its a doctor green lights) and sirens on, When they are on an emergency call. Without them on they are no different then any other road user. I think the driver just said thank you for letting them past not for giving way to them for being an ambulance.
