That album Don't Be Cruel is one of the best albums ever. Mad hits off it! Don't Be Cruel, My Prerogative, Roni, Rock Wit-Cha, Every Little Step.

That frenzy was for that album and then Bobby was regulated to a second tier artist.

Bobby Brown was the bad boy of New Edition. This was his 1st solo lp. If my memory is right he won another award & won on other music award show This was a platinum lp. with i believe had 6 hit songs. That had us jammin' on roller skates & on the dance floors in the clubs + house parties. Still have the lp. & 3 of the 12" singles.

Bobby Brown was given the title and rightly so is STILL the KING OF R&B SWING! He was Street cool with R&b SWAG and dancing LONG before USHER, OMARION or CHRIS BROWN. Aside from Michael Jackson or Prince. Bobby Brown was truly the KING OF STAGE. (Hense the title of his first album). You been through alot Bobby. We still remember. Don't ever forget that!

Wow what a find!! I searched this, not as a reaction, and found your reaction!! I watched this live and it was one of the most memorable AMA's because of this performance. At the next school dance we had after this broadcast we were all trying to do our best rendition of this performance. Pure gold.

Bobby Brown is not washed up!! It’s called he has gotten much older. The drugs and alcohol was part of the problem. He was very young in those videos. It’s true that what you do in your youth sometimes will come back to haunt you. He was still one of the very best!!!

This is the ORIGINAL! r&b bad boy, before any of them, Chris Brown, Jodeci, R Kelly, he was the first to have that street style for a singer. New Edition was straight from the projects, naturally hood, didn't have to fake it, it was just them

  • @Frankincensedjb123
    @Frankincensedjb123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Bobby Brown was originally in New Edition which spawned Bel Biv Devoe and all together and solo produced a ton of great music back in the day. Poison, Do Me, Run. Also good to check out from that era is Boys to Men and Tony Toni Tone. Great era for hip hop and funk. It REALLY needs to come back. We lived on the dance floor to this stuff.

He’s amazing I’m so mad I didn’t grow up In that generation by the time I was born usher was the man, but you gotta check out 93’s AMA’s Bobby cost hosted it, performed and won an award over MJ which was a very rare sight to see back then when Michael or prince was on the polls usually no one beats them but Bobby took it that night, sadly after the early part of 93 the most he was doing was touring on his Humpin around tour which was mega hit tour from the 92 album he released after 4 years of don’t be cruel because he fully toured on don’t be cruel for 4 years and then release his 3rd album in 92 and tour on the self entitled name of it called “Bobby” the thing with that album was it had marked the end of his era and the new Jack swing era as a whole, all the artist that making hits from 88-91 new Jack swing artist their next albums flopped expected Janet and Michael, when it came to Bobby’s next album it didn’t flopped but in comparison to dont be cruel it didn’t add up at all, although he had an amazing tour and was still able to have hits on the billboard and then years later the song “two can play that game” was later remixed into a house beat song because was becoming popular so while Bobby was getting off drugs and wasn’t making music he still had a hit outside of the U.S. in 95 and that song came out in damn 92 alsoooooo, don’t be cruel came out in 88 and didn’t stop selling till 95 as well so that proves that Bobby was that mannn he was a legend regardless I wish he had more guidance otherwise then that the same praise people give that monster Rkelly they would’ve gave to Bobby, I’m still teambobby

Going back, on top of what I said earlier about how on fire he was back then: during the beginning of the healing part of my divorce I was in the grocery store as totally randomly My Prerogative jumped into my head and immediately I was bobbing around happy with an attitude shopping for groceries - to include the fitting spirit of NGAF about people seeing me singing this low and dancing to myself pushing the cart hahahahahaha.

Yep Bobby Brown had taken off big time.
He even wrote a song for ghost busters
2 and had a cameo in the movie.
The music industry loved him, Hollywood loved him. The sky was the limit.
And then he got with Whitney. It’s not just a story about how drugs
destroy you its a story about when certain people get together they effectively destroy themselves.
If he hadn’t of gotten with Whitney he would have been a superstar till this day.
Im not saying it’s her fault but I do think when he got with her he went from a social user to addicted. I don’t think that ever would have happened if they hadn’t of gotten together.
When some people get together they just create the perfect storm.
Once they broke up he was able to kick the habit. I think once he was away from that situation he was able to see clearly in a way he hadn’t since they first got together.
Unfortunately it was too late for his career. Too many years had past at that point.
But at least he got his life back.
As everyone knows Unfortunately Whitney wasnt able to kick her demons
