    Congratulations man! Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience.
    I have always told my wife that we will work hard enough that one day we own a jet. watching you buy the best single engine piston plane makes even want to work harder towards our goals.
    May god bless you with tail winds and clear skies.

    Cloud streets form when cold, stable air air spills into an environment with just enough moisture at cloud level. The stable environment keeps the clouds from becoming too tall, and also allows for the clear spaces between lines of convective clouds to form. The cumulus clouds that form orient themselves with the mean wind. Beneath each row of clouds are little convective vortices. The clouds form where the air is ascending within the vortices. The clear spaces form where the air is descending.
    Cloud streets are especially common when cold air rushes over bodies of water. It is also quite common during lake-effect! Often in West Michigan when the winds are right, bands of clouds and snow organize into lines, or streets, similar to what was spotted over West Michigan on Wednesday.

    The aqua blue ponds you were flying over were Kaolin mines. Kaolin is used in paint, chalk, and a bunch of other things. That is what makes the water so blue. Congrats on the new plane.

    Congrats on the new plane! The blue water ponds are in fact old mines. The color somehow comes from the Kaolin (chalk clay) they were mining which isn’t blue at all but instead is white.

    Great plane, great video. Thanks for sharing. I hope to own a Cirrus someday. Question on the 121 ground frequency. Is that regional or by class? At my home airport ground is 124.4. Thanks again.

    • @steveandbeth
      @steveandbeth  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! I guess I’m not 100% certain if ground being on 121 is regional. I know that JFK in New York, LAX in California, and most of the airports in the Midwest that we use are all on 121, but I think we’ve also been to a few where it is a different frequency!

    Hey Steve, quick question about the Cirrus if you don’t mind. Is there a big difference between the G5 and G6? Basically do you think it is worth the price difference when buying used? Thanks

    • @steveandbeth
      @steveandbeth  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its been a while since I've looked at a G5, but if my memory serves, I think airframe-wise, they are basically identical to an earlier version G6. Later G6's have a few aerodynamic improvements that add a couple kts. G6 has nicer door handles, perspective plus avionics (very similar, but a little faster and maybe better resolution?), and the LED wingtip lighting. I guess in my mind it would come down to the price difference in the used market, which I haven't looked at in a long time. If there is not a huge price different, the G6 does have some neat new features. If there is a big price difference, I'm not sure most people would care too much about the small difference in features.

    Why did you guys to buy a new one vs keep the one you had? I’m also a Cirrus driver. Love the videos!

    • @steveandbeth
      @steveandbeth  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No really good reason for buying the new one, other than it’s nice to have the plane under warranty and the 5 year warranty was just ready to expire on our 2018. Also, we fly a lot of hours, so from a resale perspective, it seemed to make sense to sell the old one before the hours got too high and to start over at zero hours on the new one.

    Beth; how do you like the Bose Pro Flight in a piston plane?

    • @steveandbeth
      @steveandbeth  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I really like the ProFlight headset! We do a lot of long trips and after 8 hours of flying the A20's/A30's get really uncomfortable for me. I think there's a little more noise than with the A20 headsets in a piston, but it doesn't bother me.

    Why not hand fly in the clouds? Only way to stay competent in real IMC is to fly in real IMC.

    • @steveandbeth
      @steveandbeth  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only real reason for us not to hand fly in imc is because we were taking off at a busy time of day from a busy terminal environment (Naples/South Florida) where we knew we would be getting a bunch of vectors and handoffs. I’d much rather be on autopilot in IMC when workload is high.

    • @SMcda
      @SMcda ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeh totally understand, I am based at KPGD. Since actual doesn't happen that often down here I take advantage of it whenever I can, just in case the 700 bombs (I know not often) and I have to actually fly the plane in IMC. What year was the 22 you sold?

    • @steveandbeth
      @steveandbeth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That makes sense! We get plenty of IMC up in Minnesota! Our last one was a 2018.

    • @Captndarty
      @Captndarty ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You couldn’t be more wrong. If safety is your priority, which it should be versus showing off your manlihood, you would utilize all of your equipment, including the auto pilot set back and monitor what is going on. Work smarter not harder. There’s a reason real pilots, professional pilots use auto pilots.

    • @SMcda
      @SMcda ปีที่แล้ว

      @Captndarty Yep, tell that to the pilot who loses his A/P and can't hand fly the airplane. Had it happen to a friend flying his Cirrus. You missed my point if you read into my comment that using the A/P never has a purpose. But never hand flying the plane is actual is a request to scare the shit out of you.
