I went to juvie in high school for having weed in my bag and telling the truth... this kid slapped a young woman and ran and got to stay out. What has changed in the policy of school officers in the last 14 years??
Teacher here. This was an expel-able offense back when I was in school in the mod 2000s. But now EdCode protects kids so called "rights", but it's usually the violent kids or the kods that drag everyone else down that EdCode really protects.
Usually it depends on what type of school you go to. It’s not always policy changes. I went to a school that was labeled the “rich, white, druggie kid” school and stuff like drugs and assaults usually ended with slaps on the wrist. One day I saw a guy slap his girlfriend push her into the lockers and then scream in her face kind of like this video. This happened right in front of the principal and all that happened was the principal separated them and he got a few days of detention and remained at the school as if it were a minor incident like skipping school. This was about 13 years ago. I knew of students at other schools (that didn’t have students with loaded parents) who did similar things and were sent to juvie and/or alternative school.
Girls and women are second class, even today. The cop "understands" what he did, and I think it is more than just the running. Many cops are wife abusers.
Unless there are significant aggravating factors, first-time battery charges don't ever result in jail time anywhere in the US. Drug policies have just been unusually harsh.

I could tell right away when he was in the polices office that the whole time the main reason he wasn’t saying anything wasn’t so they could use anything he says against him, it was bcuz he was thinking “Should I run or naw?” over and over in his head. He was weighing his options.

The step dad just setting, and not furious says a lot more, and let’s go to the boys mom….really?
I think both sets of parents are failing their kids. It's a symptom of modern day America. Girls act out of control, so do the boys. They're both constantly abusing each-other, cheating on each-other, encouraging their friends to just be scumbags. The cycle continues well into their adult lives and we all have to act so shocked. Are both kids being raised by divorced parents? We sure instill good values into our kids with all this getting knocked up and bringing strangers around to be their new "Daddy". No wonder nobody knows what a healthy relationship looks like.
Gotta love how the parents on both sides couldn't care less about what happened. The step-dad was like "...ok." when told his daughter was slapped. Mom was like "...ok." when told her son was arrested. Well I guess if all parties are just fine and dandy with it that's all that matters.

Progressive policing

I think both sets of parents are failing their kids. It's a symptom of modern day America. Girls act out of control, so do the boys. Are both kids being raised by divorced parents? We sure instill good values into our kids with all this getting knocked up and bringing strangers around to be their new "Daddy". No wonder nobody knows what a healthy relationship looks like.
They are kids, we were all going thru it at that age. Immature, hormonal, angry. We also don't have much context.
Gotta love how the parents on both sides couldn't care less about what happened. The step-dad was like "...ok." when told his daughter was slapped. Mom was like "...ok." when told her son was arrested. Well I guess if all parties are just fine and dandy with it that's all that matters.
