Rob- Lots of those mechanical fire alarms came with re-settable trips- When it popped the first time I was taken by surprise! 🫣😂👍. Thanks again buddy!!! 😃👍
I don't care how much technology progresses or how far they come with LED technology, NOTHING will ever beat the look of incandescent bulbs on cars especially classics 😎
Rob did good! I've been a subscriber to his channel for a little while. Those were some very neat items. Wonderful job on the light. Train stuff is so cool. 😀👍
I have one of those lites from my railroad days but its yellow. My great friend from high school lives in Canon City and worked for the royal gorge railway, and I think his dad did to.
That light is beautiful. Nice job cleaning it up. Tell the truth, if I had that fire alarm I'd be hitting it with the heat gun once a day for a week just to hear it go off. (Okay, maybe two weeks)
Thank you for another nice show, one cool thing about that railroad light is the incandescent bulb and how it fades in and out as the filament heats and cools, reminds me of the tail light of a 1965 Ford Galaxy, those cars had style, not like the cars today that all look like a worn bar of soap.
Being as we live in Colorado, I took my daughter and granddaughter on the Royal Gorge train about 4 years ago. It's great fun, with wonderful scenery. As to the fire alarm, I like it, but as a paramedic/firefighter, we always cautioned that these are not considered to be early warning devices. By the time the alarm goes off, you will have a fire that is pretty much heavily involved, since it is doubtful the alarm will be directly near the point of origin. Great show, as always. Wayne out West
Wayne- The funny thing is when you hear that alarm you’ve got to GO! They were pretty impressive for the time they came out- even more impressive seeing they still work after 60+ years with zero maintenance. 😃👍
Thanks John, great show, that was an awesome group of objects that Rob sent over, that tap looks like new, the Light cleaned up a dream a good use of many of your restoring skills - superb work on the lens - polished to perfection ! I've always wanted to visit the US and travel on one of those large inter-state railroads, the Locos you have there are beasts ! Sending thanks to Rob too !
I wouldn’t mind that train ride, looks like it would’ve been fun and enjoyable. Like the light restoration, it came out most excellent, nice tip on what I call spade connectors, using the needle nose to wiggle them off. Good show young man, enjoyed it.
RR light comment. I retired from a East of the Mississippi RR, after 40+ years. When I started, there were up to five people per freight train, two to three on the engine, and two on the caboose. Lights like this replaced the caboose, and two to three employees. On the engine: an engineer, a flagman, and I can't remember the title of the other person on the engine (kinda an asst. engineer). On the caboose: a conductor and brakeman. Now there isn't a caboose, only a flashing red light, called an ETD (end of train device). On the engine: an engineer and a conductor. When's the last time you seen a caboose, other than in a RR museum? We (wife & I) really enjoy your videos. Thanks.
It’s so true! They made heavy cuts to personnel operating trains and maintenance. Sooner or later it always comes back to bite them in the butt! As a train man you must have seen Buster Keaton in “The General” it’s on TH-cam- Still holds up today! 😃👍
Great Video 👍 Love seeing that visible padlock 🔐, that is awesome! 👍 Those Bakelite wire nuts are fantastic!, I would agree they are better Quality as compared to the Ideal ones👍. Great information and demonstration of the mechanical fire alarm. I thought it was awesome to see and very interesting 👍👍. That Royal Gorge train 🚂 looks amazing,What a Great Looking Train 👍👍. That would be a awesome trip to see all the scenery in the Mountain ⛰ state Of Colorado. What a Fantastic clean up and fix of the train light. The red lens came out amazing!,looks brand new. Fantastic job! Great shot of Old Glory 🇺🇸 Flying in the Breeze. Well again Fantastic video and can’t wait to see what you do on Wednesday. Have a great evening. 😃👍👍
Enjoyable video. Your videos are never too long. Look closely at the Detroit tap and you can see what a beautiful example of American manufacturing/machining it is. The windup alarm is very clever.
John, the fire alarm brought back memories of my childhood home. My Dad had 3 of those exact alarms in his house that he built back in 1960. How I wish I had taken them when I sold the house after he passed away in 2013. As always another great show. P.S - check your email.
Got to say I think the Fire Alarm was awesome. BTW I think you & Magdad should have a Tool Off with 3 different items an easy, medium and hard for the veiwers to judge 😊
Nice items. There is one in Arizona called the Verde Canyon that is great. If you watch How the West Was Won the final shoot out at the railroad station was done where this train stops. Our house is right next to an old train track which I am glad is gone but out in the country it is a multi use trail and even 40 + years after it was pulled I still find spikes. At least once a year during my walks. Frost brings them up and then when the trail is graded they really pop up. Probably because they weren't to careful when they tore the tracks out. I have one on my desk I found not long ago.
Good show. I rebuilt and changed 2 train signal lights for my buddy to 120 volt. . They are similar to our traffic lights but a different order. They were 8 volt and all stainless steel. I like the clear lock. Thank You
Hey ! ❤
Great job on the light, John! Are you still planning on doing a fund raiser auction with your projects? If so, can't wait to bid on some of your restos.
Hello John scout crafter you are very good at restoring tools what's up/? HOUGIE Eagle looks like you gave up on the tools very satisfying To see a tool put back in service, probably a little bit hard work, but I think it's worth it, of course I'm not doing the work. Have a nice day today, and a better one tomorrow. upper Peninsula of Michigan Carnivore
John- My best videos are the ones that when over you say “Wait a minute how long was that?” When it goes fast it’s a good video, when it drags and you want to skip to the end it’s not. 😂😂👍 Thanks!
@@ScoutCrafter aka John, as John said I’d like to see more Resto & less time lapse. Being in Oz I have to wait an extra day to see it so by the time it gets here it’s over. 😂😂😂 keep it up ScoutCrafter. 👍🏻🇦🇺
The soft scotch brite (supermarket grade) and comet or bon Ami does a good job of cleaning Aluminum without scratching too much- also SOS pads are great. 😃👍
John I purchased a drill at an estate sale last week, it is a zephyr 1/2" model 510 rated at 4.5 amps 450 rpm. It works great but needed a new plug.DO you know anything about it?
Hi Wayne! Yes- nice drill and easy repair. Cords on many older drills always dried up and cracked. Replacements are readily available and easy to change. I did a video a couple times on replacing them. Search “ScoutCrafter Drill” in TH-cam search box. 😃👍
That light clean up was awesome!! Amazing what a little clean up of electrical connections can do!! I work on float planes and corrosion is always an issue. What was your method again for the lense??
Hey John, I am glad you liked the loot. I freaked out when I saw that fire alarm fuse. 😅
That light looks awesome!

Rob is quite a guy. I could tell you were having fun. Great repair on the light and a great video.

You are so right- the LED or Xenon flashers are instantaneous and don’t have that old school cool! 😃👍
Fantastic restoration on the train light, the pad lock was really nice. Thanks John
Nice light I live in Colorado and ride that train it's a cool ride and fun ride
That Resto-Rob is one GREAT GUY!!!!!! I NEVER cared what the rest of the tool guys said!!!!
Congratulations on your pardon.

Great show today John!!! Resto Rob hooked you up pretty good. Thank You for sharing 😃
Great stuff today. You need to let folks know that the big scissors are for ceremonial ribbon cutting. Don’t know if they do that outside the US.
Jack- I have a pair of ribbon cutting scissors that actually cut! These are plastic and only are for show. 😂👍
Great video and great train light. My favorite thing though was the visible padlock. I love seeing exactly how things work, and this is the best!!!
Hi John. Very interesting video again. That light looks really nice.looking forward wed.have a great day.👍👍❤🤠...
Best washer and dryer ever. I have the exact models. My set is over 25 years old!
You’re absolutely correct! My Dad bought those in the mid 90’s I believe. We went together to buy them and it was a memorable experience. 😃👍
Very interesting as always John. I really liked the clean up of the train light! 👏🇺🇲

Hey John, I was actually just setting up my shop down here in FL today. I took the majority of my tools and all my SK with me. Was 12,000 lbs worth!

What a super package you got from Rob. What a great restoration on that engine light that was well done and a great demonstration afterwards

I love that light...great stuff. Cheers
I've been to Colorado and the Royal gorge was on my list, but I never made it. Slightly regret that now, can't have it all! Great stuff!!

Great box of gifts from Rob! That train flasher came out fantastic! The alarm is also cool. Nothing like the atomic logo!
Awesome show as always. Your videos are never ever too long. Could watch you for an hour easily 👍🇺🇲👊
Awesome job Scout👍👍
I like that red light.
Fred- You like the vintage cool down of the filament giving it that old school flasher effect! 😃👍

Great restore on the RR light😊

Thanks. Appreciated. Really enjoyed that.
Hey John! it'll be cool if you turn one of those railroad spikes into a screwdriver
Wonderful stuff from Resto Rob! Question about the Christmas blow molds, can you touch up paint them?
Yes however it’s best to use a clear paint- If the paint is too opaque the light won’t show through. 😃👍
Nice video

The US is the only country that use wire connector
Some electricians are using Wago now but they are a bit pricy. 😃👍
Donald Trump needs that to warn people not to step in the swamp until he cleans it! You should see the slime that's in there!
