I'm not surprised that "My Girl" won your Temptations song poll. It is such an all-time classic. It has one of the most famous opening lines "I've Got Sunshine On A cloudy Day." It was written by Smokey Robinson and is one of the greatest feel-good love songs of all-time, This is one of those songs which is timeless and spans all generations.
"Just My Imagination" and "I Wish It Would Rain" are brilliant Temptations tracks. "Kiss And Say Goodbye" by The Manhattans, "I Can't Help Myself" and "Bernadette" by The Four Tops, "Have You Seen Her" by The Chi-lites, "Under The Boardwalk" and "Up On The Roof" by The Drifters, "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" and "Tracks Of My Tears" and "Tears Of A Clown" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, are all great tracks.
This song came out in 1965 (my junior year of high school). I actually bought this on a 45 rpm record and gave it to my girlfriend. It was the "A" and the "B" side was "(Talking 'Bout) Nobody But My Baby" I was hoping that she would think of me every time she played it...........
The Temps are one of my favorite groups, and in my opinion, this is their best lineup. Some other great songs by them are "Can't Get Next To You", "Get Ready", "I'm Losing You", Just My Imagination", "Ain't Too Proud To Beg", etc.
I remember listening to this song as a kid, before streaming, when I would sit and listen to the radio. No foul language here, no cr*tch-grabbing, no twerking, just simple-cool dance moves, coupled with sweet vocals and harmonies!
Absolutely love the Temptations! I was in high school when this came out. And we were all doing the Temptation walk. So many great hits and artists came out of Motown. Actually got to see The Miracles at a teen club and it was amazing! The girls went crazy! So many great memories! Thanks for reacting to this beautiful classic!
When someone mentions Motown, this is the first song that everyone seems to think of, and you can hear why. All the Motown artists recorded din Detroit MI for most of the 1960's just 80 miles from my house in Lansing MI when I was a kid. Found out my blind cousin went to the Michigan School for the blind with , get this....Stevie Wonder. After growing up with town music on the radio and TV etc., as a little boy in 1960's it shaped my life. But the group that won my heart over all was not the temptations...it was the Supremes!! At one point from the 1960's they were 2nd only to the Beatles in record sales. The Beatles had about 20 singles, and the Supremes had about 18. The amazing thing about Motown was they invited everybody in to enjoy the music while fighting for Civil rights to be let in and most of young people loved them all. now today there is all this damned separatism on the media... back then it was all on one station, fair and square popular music competition, and room for everybody. It wasn't perfect but it was progressing toward a better world. What the hell happened?
Another great reaction to a TRUE CLASSIC! Awesome. I LOVE IT. You can't go wrong with this song that almost everyone knows! That was a special time in musical history with all the dancing groups. We need people like you to keep these songs alive for future generations! WELL DONE, LADIES!
I guess the female perspective equivalent to this classic Motown song is another classic Motown song by Mary Wells called "My Guy" .. I'm sure you both know it ( everybody knows it ! ) .. It's essentially a one-hit wonder, but it's a beauty .. The movie "Sister Act" ( about nuns ) famously had a version in it called "My God" .. Anyway, thanks for another fun reaction ! .. Wayne
Hi Beautiful ladies! This is one of your subscribers from Down Under! Thank you, thank you for reacting to one of my FAVOURITE songs! LOVE it! Love your channel! Peace and Blessings to you from Australia.
I have to say that if someone would create a radio station that devoted itself to Motown? And introduced this music to a new audience? They would make a zillion dollars. The list goes on forever. Temptations, Jackson 5, dianna Ross and supremes, 4 tops, marvin Gaye, stevie wonder and so many more. Too many to mention. Great music!
Bravo ,excellent choice .Temptations,1965,with the great David Ruffin on lead. This song was written by Smokey Robinson, specifically to match Rufffin's gritty voice. There are those who may disagree with me when I say that the Temptations were the greatest R&B/soul group ever. They are the template by which all r&b/ soul groups are. This is truly an iconic song and David was a truly magnificent vocalist. You should listen to David Ruffin sing lead in I Wish It Would Rain, You'll Lose A Precious Love & It's Growing. You will not be disappointed.
This is an absolutely great Temptation song but my favorite Temptations song is called Papa Was a Rolling Stone if you listen to that song that song will tell you why it was my favorite Temptation song they've got a lot of other great songs but that song touched me in a special way and made it my favorite.
As usual, The Funk Brothers at their best on this song. The legendary David Ruffin on lead vocals here. Song was written by Smokey Robinson. Try The Temptations tunes, Ain't Too Proud To Beg and I Wish It Would Rain...
Love this type of dance-your-socks - off music. You will appreciate a fantastic cover of that rocking Do you love me (Dirty Dancing) by Aussie legend Jimmy Barnes and new soul singer Josh Teskey. Also a must-hear is Teskey Brothers Hold me.
Anything that David Ruffin sang lead on for the temptations was a banger you should dive deeper into them one of my favorites is Beauty’s only skin deep
one of my favourite songs is the Temptations under the boardwalk which they also did a version with Bruce Willis which was a UK number 1in 1987 please check that out i,ve sent you the link to your ig
A great song and a great performance. But still, both Ruffin brothers were not the best quality of people. And that ended David's run with the Temps, and eventually his life. A huge waste of talents, as it usually is.

An incredible timeless song like you said!
We called it the Temptation "walk" back in the day. What a wonderful 😊 time.
The simplicity of this song is never lost on me. One of my most favourite songs. Doesn't it just put a happy smile on your face when you hear it!
"Just My Imagination" and "I Wish It Would Rain" are brilliant Temptations tracks. I just love the moves these Ol' School R&B artists made when singing their songs!! great tune!!

The Temptations.....one of my favorite top 20 groups in pop/rock/R&B history. They were flawless!
The Temps are one of my favorite groups, and in my opinion, this is their best lineup. Some other great songs by them are "Can't Get Next To You", "Get Ready", "I'm Losing You", Just My Imagination", "Ain't Too Proud To Beg", etc.
What a GREAT GROUP..Grew up with them..in Detroit,Mi
I love the temptations. I grew up hearing their music at home and when visiting relatives.
I remember listening to this song as a kid, before streaming, when I would sit and listen to the radio. No foul language here, no cr*tch-grabbing, no twerking, just simple-cool dance moves, coupled with sweet vocals and harmonies!

Growing up, during this era and in Detroit, most of the stations here played Motown music. Notice the choreography and clothes.
I love this song too.
Another great song that’s very relevant today is ‘ Ball of confusion. ‘
Another great reaction to a TRUE CLASSIC! Awesome. I LOVE IT. You can't go wrong with this song that almost everyone knows! That was a special time in musical history with all the dancing groups. We need people like you to keep these songs alive for future generations! WELL DONE, LADIES!

Temptations for Life
My cousin danced to this song on her wedding day this past weekend with her dad was beautiful.🎉❤

Early 60's, every teen age boys favorite 'close up' dancing song. Played, usually badly, at every dance venue in the US. Classic!!
This was written by Smokey Robinson. Another great cover of a Smokey Robinson song is "More Love" by Kim Carnes - definitely worth checking out.
there was a movie made in the nineties i think based on this group called the five heartbeats. it is one great movie
Motown classic!
Its nice to see you begin to scratch the surface of my life's soundtrack but, boy do you have a long long way to go.

David's brother Jmmy Ruffin had the massive hit What Becomes of the Brokenhearted. Check it out
P.S.They are the standard by which all r&b/soul groups are measured.
