Important note: not all of those 75/76mm AT guns are the same. The line that you went down is a combination of artillery and AT where the bottom is artillery and the above is AT. So those guns can do both which is pretty useful early in the game against light armor, but it really starts to suffer against even T-34s which, I can’t stress enough, will be coming soon. In fact, im slightly surprised you haven’t run into one yet. It’s going to be a real nightmare to take out; likely the play there will have to be destroying the turret by shooting at the turret cheeks (a relatively weak spot on the T-34) and then tracking it which will slowly cause the crew to die as the stupidly leave to try and repair. Maybe, since you have the cav squad, you could get an AT grenade on it, but that’s always a risky proposition.
Alternatively, you could get lucky and the tank will turn its side for you to hit or you could rush at it with a BT tank and get the side with that.
Alternatively, if you ask nicely, they may decide not to kill you! It's worth considering, I suppose
So those who slowly died inside the armor are the smart ones?😅
@@ikkezelf599 I was specifically talking about how the AI will just send out one crewman at a time to repair the tank while you actually have nothing which can deal with the enemy’s armor (I have done this with a KV)
I don't know if you realize this, but I am pretty sure that the smoke grenades you're using are Willie Pete or White Phosphorus. 😅😅😅
Yeah I know I am! I try to avoid running my guts through it haha
@Wolfpack345 lol, I was just wondering if you knew, but I appreciate that you took time out of your schedule to respond.
I would highly recommend you start investing your research points into heavier armor and larger guns (be careful as the line they give you is weird in that it combines artillery with AT, AT guns are on top and artillery on the bottom). I have a very strong feeling that now that you’re starting to face 85mm and 122mm guns, it’s is only a matter of MAYBE 1-2 more episodes before you meet the absolute joy of a T-34 or KV-1.
AP and AT miners are free research after you get Engineers. They all can be unlocked at the same time.
Good tip. Thank you!
Yeah, i didn't realize how powerful the AT miners were till recently. especially in defense missions. last match i stopped an entire column of Russian tanks, and I am fighting late-year model tanks (about 25 missions in). still don't use anti-personnel mines though.
@@eugenejackson1358 I like AP mines in defense too.
Put them in the gaps between buildings or barb wire sections. Along obvious foot paths. They work well to slow and whittle down infantry.
I have a hard time remembering to pull back the miners when the first waves start.
@@basecoat1966 if you hold shift while ordering the placement of mines and then click a movement order after placing, your miner will move to that position after it’s completed the last order
@@lukeb1663 Lol.. I do use the shift key to give orders on where to place mines. Never occurred to me to use it tell them to return.
I'm a bad company commander.
Thank you.
FYI the Finland 150cm Search Light is an amazing force multiplier working with arty as it can illuminate any terrain at very long range regardless of terrain features. Position it beside or in front of arty but behind infantry screen.
A wee tip for newer players - consider grouping up a grenadier (he) with your more basic rifle squads. Up to ten infantry can be command hotkeyed (shift plus number) so having a couple squads with rifle grenades really helps, and the leftover AT grenadiers work well as light armour and half track/truck hunters alongside AT rifle detachments. Cheap and effective for their accessibility.
I had a think about some general ideas that can help especially with defending a point.
First one is that a number of medium and heavy artillery guns can dual purpose as heavy AT by switching ammo. The Soviet 122mm and 152mm are good examples amd are a mainstay in my Finnish campaign.
Second is heavy engineers and their coastal artillery guns. It's basically a free 75mm AA gun with a large concrete barricade, though constructing it isn't the most intuitive thing. You need them to build the base then right click once the foundation is set to build the walls and once more to build the gun.
Last point is the 75 K/44 AT gun, you want it. It will destroy anything short of the heaviest Soviet armor past 100m. It's basically a Pak40 on Pervitin.
Just remember to bring a crew for the coastal artillery guns.
It should be possible to set medics to be automatic the same way that AA and AT automatically engage targets. You would want them to prioritize troops farthest away from known enemy contact to stop them from running into enemy fire. Attacking infantry need to leapfrog objectives supported by armour. If they encounter an enemy counter attack, they should be able to withdraw to a prepared defensive position. AT and machine guns should only be advanced to defend captured points. Mortars and other indirect fire artillery should never have a direct view of the enemy. If you have enough, they can be leapfrogged as well.
Leapfrogging is important not just for mortar teams, but rather for every unit used. Infantry, in particular, absolutely has to be leapfrogged unless you’re willing to have devastating casualties on an approach.
@@lukeb1663 As I said: "Attacking infantry need to leapfrog objectives supported by armour."
@@Lord.Kiltridge wow I’m blind. Lol it’s good to know that for future reference

Love the content. I feel like you are also becoming much better at the game as the campaign progresses. Can't wait for the next one!
Get the marksman squad they are cheap and the best infantry they can hit super long range and shred through infantry, every time they shoot an enemy dies, they have a higher rifle skill then the sniper and they have insane health
I second that. They're amazing infantry.
Oh yeah that 85mm AA gun is quite a decent AT gun. It’s got about the same (I think it is the same) as the T-35-85 so it can reasonably deal with anything but like KVs at extreme range or an IS at basically any distance frontally.
The Fins will sing songs of your glory for ages
"Isänmaan puolesta!"
Loving this series, keep it up!
Please, thank you!
GG and yes, smoke grenade, White Phosphorus tossed on the engine deck will flame a tank!
This is absolutely bonkers video!
Love the game play, I would be pulling my hair out with the micro managing.
What's up Wolfpack, Looooooong time fan and sub. I like this series. Different than your flying and sub stories but better than war at sea, imo.
Always enjoy your vids.
Great episode
Is it just me, or does Wolfpack say right when he means left?
I frequently malfunction
he is confusing the enemy spies
@@Wolfpack345 - you mean in a manner similar to the way in which a certain Englishman is Usually Hapless? ;)
nice literally just caught up for another =D
Great video
Hey Wolfpack. Have you tried the mod that makes the conquest a bit more difficult? I forget the name as I am sitting here, could be "conquest enhanced" off memory, the ai is a wee bit smarter, there's more maps and more importantly the enemy will really dig in with at/arty positions on capture points. Also they will throw armies with different composition during their attack phases so you may face an infantry heavy or even an armored spearhead.
The Advance Continues
Rifle AT grenadier damaged the Tank btw around the 16min mark
45 mm gun, 7.62 mg on the T 26
Any plans on doing more Sturmovik campaigns? What do you think about Wings of Prey/Birds of Steel?
I'm pretty sure you lost a lot of those tanks later in the mission to AT rifles. Later war tanks don't have to worry nearly as much about the PTRD and PTRS but they are a nightmare early campaign.
Meanwhile Finnish AT rifles suck extreme ass. (Except for the blessed L-39)
Cavalry is a military arm...Calvary is where Jesus died. Thanks.
So my ears did not deceive me. He was switching the V and L. At least he didn't say hemlet. 🤣
@@ericstearns170 Ah, Hemlet, the famous Danish prince! 😉
Finally seeing some flamethrowers next mission?
Why do you not use infantry together with armor?
Must suck being Wolfpack knowing you'll just get backseat-gamed every upload
PLEASE HELP. Whats the hot key to get ur artillery pieces to set up? ie at 14:15 when ur trying to get them from 'movement mode' to 'set up and fire mode'. Sometimes i click on a destination for my emplacements and they move to the position and just stand there and get shot
Also do certain units take longer or faster to repair vehicles? Ive noticed hull or transmissions take a long time to repair but wheels are almost instant
Can you paus in this game to give commands or is it just realtime?
Jajaja OMG kinda hard battle, at least 2 Lost tanks
big
Won't you need a truck repaired to tow the 122mm howitzer?
No, I can for the poor finns to push the gun around.
Do you have any mods installed?
Not this time
"Push against the Russians! For the Axis! For the Reich!" 1st lieutenant Hans Zimler ,a officer from Germany, says to the Finnish fighters.
First!
Man, You have to stop double clicking when ordering tanks to attack. It tells them to rotate front towards the target losing time and life in the process. Anyway, great gameplay! Cheers!
I honestly had no idea double clicking did that lol. Thanks for letting me know
@@Wolfpack345 i did not play this game but have a lot of time spent in Men of War, which is similar i see. The same goes for infantry, double click sends them to destination, no questions asked, one-click sends them there too, but when they spot enemy, they will open fire. Both commands are important in different situations ;)
