Do people know that since the first edition of this program a new hand icon has been added to the orchestrator which hugely magnifies its usefulness and greatly enhances it's educational possibilities. I think this had is incredible. What does it do? It let's you drag any Orchestrator composition into your sequencer and expand all the individual parts so that you have one track per instrument. From here, if your sequencer has a score package (Cubase/ Logic) , you can study the scorre in notation, or you can study in the key editor if this is your way. You also have the full control over changing the score, adding other tracks etc. Not only are MIDI notes preserved but also custom articulations, control lane CC data etc. Finally, within the Orchestrator you can create your own custom presets from scratch. This is hugely useful - for example, you may wish to design your own ostinatos or themes that you can tuck away as a preset and drag out (literally) when you so desire
I have to admit, I wasn't exactly that interested in the Orchestrator, since I thought that it would be restrictive of my creativity. However, I am very impressed by this. It won't be something I use constantly, but for creating realistic sounding ostinatos, or for a bit of inspiration, this is fantastic. Very good work guys! I'm excited for the other videos. Also, I'm really liking the layout of these videos. It looks very professional. Well dones all around!
sounds amazing! And that you can export your midi files - great for using in Sibelius or Dorico or other notation or DAW programs also. I'm in awe of what's been accomplished here.
What’s crazy about this update is I’m watching how he is playing block chords like a regular keyboard player but the play back spreads like a live orchestra.
Orchestrator is very helpful for us noobs. The ability to create our own presets and patterns turns it from a diversion into a tool. Quite an innovation. Up there with you type it and they sing.
Pre-ordered after watching this. I'm going to learn a lot about orchestration just through all the knowledge programmed into this Orchestrator utility. Well done!
I can't wait till this drops on the 20th. This looks so much more fun than staring at a blank sequencer wondering where to start. You can just get stuck in and see where it takes you. I wasn't that interested in orchestrator until I saw this video. Jaw has well and truly dropped !
oh wow 😍😍😍 you can create some great pieces quickly with this..its great if you have a quick idea and want to get something out of it fast and conviently. i cant wait to try this one out 😍
This is a perfect orchestration learning tool for reverse engineering the 500 presets and in this way, little by little, build up your own melodic lines, rhythms, arpeggiations and total orchestral movements.
Excellent! I don't see myself using it as perscribed out of the box for my final compositions, but what a great tool for both learning and getting inspiration when you are stuck! And what a great learning tool! Thanks to EW for going through 500 different orchestral and textural ideas for all of us to be inspired and learn 😊👏👏 Will definitly use this a lot to draw ideas from, and learn new textures! And by the way, if this is a prelude to how great Opus is programmed, I can't wait to get my hands on both this and Opus 😁 The programming sounds stellar!
The quality is amazing. The possibilities too. I hope I will soon learn music that minimum possible I can justify paying for the privilege. I wish to compose something before my father is taken over by Alzheimer’s. He is already affected but if I could compose something that he can listen to and relate to me it would be for him. He always loved classical and contemporary (Berio for example) music and would love to hear something I compose with such quality and power supported by your beautiful work. Thank you.
@@learningideas Well, once you have the exported the midi, you can just import it into a music notation software. Add dynamics, articulations, etc, fix the layout, and you have your score. Then remember to export the parts, print them, ad hand them to the players XD
Great concept but I have a question! If you want to use several orchestrator scores to make a 2 minute track for example is it possible to do it without having to add another Opus in our DAW ?
I've gotta be honest. As someone who primarily composes improvisationaly, this could be a very useful and inspiring tool for me. I usually steer clear of automatic orchestrators and things like that (unless it's dirt cheap). But I don't know. I may just get this.
great, but what about the symphonic library? how about an update to symphonic orchestra and choir so they also have an orchestrator, doens have to be as powerful as the hollywood one,but for people who cant afford (like me) the hollywood libraries it would be a great udate
It looks interesting and helpful but I have some questions. First, can it do multiple outputs? Second, can a player change the mic positions of individual instruments? Thank you in advance ☺️
Since no one responded: you can change the mics of individual instruments. Each instrument can also have a different output, though I don't think you can assign a single instrument patch to have multiple outputs. (I might be wrong.)
Can the midi data be transferred to normal midi files outside of the orchestrator? Are these sounds out of the box or have they been heavily processed?
Thank you so much for this. Very helpful. Can I ask what keys you're using. I'll be upgrading my old yami and I like the simplicity and volume control of the one you are using. Cheers Mikael
Just bought it and I am loving it! I have already created 3 new “ score” style presets by keeping things that i liked and chsngingba whole bunch if other parameters. The pencil is super useful for msking your own stuff. QUESTION: can users share the presets that they create with other users? Is there a site or a forum where we can post our own preset creations and also download new ones from others? That would be awesome!
Along with listening to art music pieces, I would use this once a week to gain ideas' but I would continue to use my own method of composition and orchestration. Sometimes, my methods don't produce the results I want.
Today I installed Hollywood Orchestrator and the banks, I'm still testing it...at the moment I'm fascinated, congratulations. This Orchestrator is brilliant for classical music. Do you think EW will make orchestrator presets for other musical genres as well? Orchestrator for Hip Hop, POP, TRAP... and other modern genres?
If you go onto the page for Opus, then you can see what different editions you need. I believe X gets the Gold content plus an extra mic position, while X gets the full product (I might have remembered incorrectly though).
As far as I know the whole Opus Edition is included in the same way like every other EW product with gold and diamond. Composer Cloud has the Gold, Composer Cloud X the Gold + one mic position everything in 16 bit and Composer Plus has Diamond with all mic positions an 24 bit. You can read it in the FAQ section of the Opus Edition.
I purchased the Opus Diamond package with Orchestrator. I have installed it but Orchestrator does not appear in the Opus browser. Where is the installation video? What am I doing wrong?
Can we please have this for more banks as well? ie. Gypsy, Stormdrum etc. I can´t say how happy I am to see you´ve created Opus, Play was genuinely a horrific instrument to work with!
Sounds really great ,and the orchestrator seems very well implemented. The patches sound more ‘processed’ and less ‘raw’ then in the current play engine. (In a good way....they sound terrific) Have you guys created ready to go ‘out of the box’ sounding presets in Opus ? Great Job 👍🏻
Thanks for the walkthrough, but there's a little more I'd like to know. I'm experimenting with it now so I get to know it inside and out. This thing is pure genius though.
Question: Can I just use automation clips for dynamics rather then modwheel? I'm using FL Studio. In terms of jamming, eyah modwheel is great, but for composing, I would need to have much more control and ability to correct things.
This is incredible! Great video. But where are the actual samples coming from? Are the sounds from hollywood strings? Can you also do an ensemble using the fantasy library?
This is making use of the libraries from the Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition (including the strings). There is a separate Fantasy Orchestrator also - th-cam.com/video/ygVAaQ9EeNQ/w-d-xo.html
Awesome...We CAN do polyphonic legato with divisi ???????? Am i right ? 1 instrument per note....polyphonic....legato ? INCREDIBLE. Has nobody noticed that feature ?
But how does all of the notes that the orchestrator is generating get recorded into actual midi in your daw? Seems like you only covered the live playing aspects of it.
MIDI Export: with MIDI export, you can record complete passages with any Orchestrator preset with all data as MIDI region and change the material afterwards. This enables you to adjust your recorded material, change notes in any detailed way to create 100% individual compositions.
Holy WOW!!! Major kudos to EastWest on this!! Can someone please show a link that will show the differences between the OPUS Gold and OPUS Diamond? Thank you!
This product is awesome!! Unfortunately, Hollywood Opus and the Orchestrator are too powerful for my machine to handle, don't have the spec to cope with it? Such a shame, cos this be be great thing to own and use?
I've been waiting for that for years! Not only it will hepl arranging tracks fast, it will teach me the how to and the rules of orchestration in a fun way (compared to boring and dry books only). One day to go ! Can't wait! I can see casualties here: Competitors and my CPU :)
Is there anybody out there that knows how to set up Opus as a multitimbral instrument in Protools 2022? Tried to set up like I used to set up Play but not working.
Currently you can only get Hollywood Orchestrator with Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition, which includes all the instruments needed to run the Hollywood Orchestrator presets.
The Moods feature is included in all versions actually. They just sound the best when you have all the microphone positions included in Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition Diamond or ComposerCloud Plus.
