I have Ludwig, and I'm a bit of a Ludwig guy, but I do like Gretsch and I'm glad I stumbled upon this podcast. Really great content!

They’re all great. I own both Ludwig and Gretsch. But the best drums in the world might be Tama and Yamaha because of the crazy high level skills of the company.

@@ramencurry6672 Not even close I have owned both. Gretsch and DW have superior
Depth of sound. Better mid frequency of sound than Japanese drums. Ref Keith Carlock

@@mikestevens5512 well I’ve heard that the best drums in the world are Sonor. Maybe the Germans make the best drums

I find it surprising that you were unaware of the huge influence Harrison playing a Gretsch on Ed Sullivan had on guitar players, as well as Lennon and his Rickenbacker. I guess it’s a age thing, actually having a mind changing experience seeing The Beatles for the first time anywhere is one reason, but I often wonder why Hofner failed in the same vein.
    I enjoy your podcasts btw.🥁

Alright! How About That Great Gretsch Sound?
Not to Mention That Great Gretsch Secret Glue Formula!!
I Wonder Where That Glue Formula Ended Up When Gretsch Was Bought Out...
One Thing is for Certain, It Sure as Hell Made Those Multi-Ply Veneer Drums Sound Ice-Cold!!! Wouldn't You Agree DW?

Gretsch is quality. And relatively a good bargain too. Top tier level sound for the price of an Apple computer but will last a lifetime.

Yes. And if you’re on a budget, the Gretsch Catalina line is incredible. Bargain of the century in the drum world.

I bought a Gretch bass drum off this stingy old man jazz drummer and the asshole took off the lugs and tom tree off it so all I got are the shell and the wood hoops. Looking on ebay all the hardware is extremely expensive! So I'm wondering if I can find some other hardware to put on there something better than cb700 but can Ludwig hardware fit? I was going to rewrap in gold glitter just need nice lugs and hoop hooks that'll work.

Jeeze, that is not cool! I would check in with the Gretsch or vintage drum facebook groups and see what they think.
