Absolute Gold standard. We constantly need to hear and be reminded of the Gospel. Christ died, raised, ascended and seated (rested) and the really good part is He hid your life in Himself when He done it, finished it perfectly because you cant. The penny will drop eventually as you meditate upon the Gospel truth. Thankyou Rod!!!
My pastor said in a sermon on discipleship "The Gospel is the good news that your life can belong to Jesus, and that he will shape you to be like him and it will be a glorious life." & "The Gospel is the good news that your sins can be forgiven and so that you can live a life like Christ." From another sermon - "Jesus came to give himself to you - that is not what the Bible teaches, the bible teaches Jesus came that you would give yourself to him." I think this is a collapsing of Law & Gospel, am I on the right track? Thanks I have been a student of @Fighting4theFaith for many years Thank you Ted & Dr. Rod!
YES!!! so good. I've mentioned 1517 over and over again to Pastors and other Christians. I get a blank stare or they think I'm being critical of them. I don't try to be but goodness I can't help telling them where this beggar found the bread of life. For 1517 and Mockingbird are DETERMINED to know and proclaim NOTHING but Christ and Him Crucified. As Rod said. This is where I must to live!! I'm praying for the whole of the church to have ears to hear. God is faithful and merciful. He will hear our prayers for His church. In His timing. I'm really impatient for this! They feel like they are hearing what is correct that it's all about what "they" do....Their Jesus is too small. They hardly need Him at all and they don't even know it. I say to some "the law kills" it is meant to kill us and that is its only job... what? No that can't be right. So only broken people will be out there looking for the kind of help that comes from Rod's "Gospel for people broken by the Church". I remember the first time I found and listened to it... it was like that day I could breath again, that day I had joy for the first time in a long time. Only broken and hopeless people will be looking for Christ to help them and to lift them out of the utter despair of trying to do this yourself. That is exactly what happened to me. I was in the church for years!!! and cried out for what seemed like a really long time. What is wrong with me?? Why can't I get this right? All the rest of the church seems OK. It was my constant prayer over and over again. Well God heard my cry. Thanks you guys!!!
I think about this when I hear people say "I'm proud to be a Christian." If the Gospel is correctly understood as being purely a gift, and the only thing that we contribute is our sin, what is the basis for the pride?
No freedom to say yes is the most radical idea in the Lutheran "arsenal." In Luther's language, we are in total bondage. I can choose which shoes to don or what color I want my car to be. But unaided I cannot choose the Savior. I'm so glad. That very bondage allows me the freedom to be saved. To be saved. By another. Thanks be to God.
Hi brothers, question here. When God does all the work for us, that includes the gift of faith and the good works of our new Adam, what could possibly keep Him from saving all mankind, as He clearly stated it's His desire? Will He use the elected few to bless the many in future ages? Why would there be an election otherwise? May God bless you, I love your shows very much, Luuk from the Netherlands
It just can't be that simple! Oh wait Jesus says in scripture that it is....burden is light..yoke easy Father-Christ-Holy Spirit's Contribution: Faith given > Belief given > Any Biblical goodness in me and that comes out of my mouth given > to Abide/stay in him given > conviction given > repentance given > forgiveness of sins given>Christ Given> Comforter given...promise of hope given. Man's contribution: Man can Sin. Man can choose Sin. Man can choose to separate from God. Man can rebell against God. Man can reject. Man can resist. Man can choose idols. Keep up the great work 1517 ! It is needed greatly!
We need not only to hear the Gospel regularly, but to eat it (Him).

Thanks Dr. Rod for the rethinking part of your sharing today. And Ted on the reminder on the turning that comes from outside - an alien Word!
Thanks

Excellent! It is Christ as all -that is what the Cross makes our forever.
