Very well explained. To many people forget about blocking. Look at a thrower, baseball player driving bat thought the strike zone, or throw a good punch. If the the front leg is not basically blocked out all the gather energy is lost to horizontal movement versus bring it up to vertical and out. Really like your explanations. Have you considered a teaching progression? Would love to hear your ideas on this. Keep up the great info.
Excellent video(s) - well explained - made me want more technical advice - does anyone know how to contact Greg directly via email ? Thanks for your help
@MrDeltaMaster Wow, 7'2", that's awesome. Very impressive! And thanks for the comment, you make a great point. Reaching is something that doesn't work for everyone, but for a beginner jumper, focusing on reaching out with that jumping leg helps them overcome one of the most common mistake I see: not flipping fast enough over the bar. Just by thinking 'reach' helps these jumpers get better lean away from the bar which, in turn, helps them flip fast enough for a better clearance. Thanks again!
Alright here's my story this is my last year of track at my middle school (8th grade) so the whole season I'm the best jumper undefeated so about 2 weeks ago my jumping coach takes intrest in a guy who's about 9 inches taller than me (take note I'm only 5"5) so since then he kinda left me out and coached him not to mention we barely get time to jump at practice anyway I got about 5 20 minute sessions when it was about 10 people with me so no direct coaching anyway so he trained him 1 on 1 for t
I don't think the comment worked since it was on my iPod but anyway I'm just gonna sum it up here He's about 8 inches taller then me he got more 1 on 1 training in the past two weeks then I've gotten in the past three years we are tied at 5"6 today (technically since it's 1 am) is our last meet wish me luck posting results tommorow
@GreggBlanchard yes, i totally understand where you are coming from, once again i wasnt trying to be a douche but i was just making sure no one was getting the wrong information, but yeah it all makes sense haha

You need to change shots from a close up to a long shot so that as you are talking about certain motions, it can be seen.
