Apparently, the key to this is the vacuum pulling the adhesive into and through the hole, filling it completely. I thought these spas/hot tubs were made of layered PVC so, I would have used PVC cleaner and glue. Damned glad I found this video. Thank you very much. Well done, sir. Well done.👍
I am so glad you posted this video of repair. I have this same spa and same issues. The spa received a seam pinhole last summer. I tried fixing it and was not having any luck. I gave up for a bit, but didn't want to throw it because it wasn't cheap and I always think there's a way to fix things, but I didn't have time with work. So, I put it off through the winter, even though I wish we could have used it then. It was difficult to work on with the weather. Now, that I came across your video, my number one mistake was not deflating it to fix it. I also did not use the 3M vinyl & leather outdoor glue for repair. I bought spa glue vinyl repair and that did not work either. I am so thankful I came across your video to try to continue to work on it, now that the weather is getting warmer and nicer. I hope it works on mine when I get a chance to fix it. :) Thank you so much for your post!
Thanks man. With your idea i fixed a several holes in my intex PureSpa, an it is holding air for now. I tried several metods with patches and stuff but none of them worked. This yours is pure fisics. Thanks again. Hope it will work long time. Intead of 3M adhesive, i used BISON adhezive for vinyl and plastic. Tree layers an it is like new. Cheers!!!!!
FYI, the Intex pump has a hole with a plastic cap on the back side at the bottom. You can insert the fill hose and use it to vacuum out the air from the spa.
Mark I have one that I need to fix same way. Could you please help me.... Is the vacuum pump just a regular air mattress pump???? I am looking forward to your reply so hopefully I can get mine fixed before Christmas. Mine is kept inside year round in my basement on 1 inch ridge pink foam to keep it properly supported extra insulation. Thanks very much and looking forward to your reply
thank u so much for this it helped us alot but in the uk we cant get the 3m glue so i have used evo stik serious glue fix and repair adhesive and this worked on ours perfect
dave dixon is this the stuff you used? EvoStik 663565 Serious Glue 33g Tube www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000Y8GU66/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_T36ECbVN80E3M And did you use it to stick a patch on or just on it's own to seal the hole? Is it still holding air? Thanks.
Thanks for the great video, Mark! I know it's going to help in repairing my spa. I was wondering, what is that attachment between your mattress air pump and the hose connected to your spa and where did you get it? Thanks for your help!
I have had my Intex hot tub for going on the 3rd summer. When I set it up this year it started loosing water. Hook ups to the pump are good. When the water level reached 1" above the inlet for the water, it stopped leaking. I emptied all the water and have tried many water tests to no avail. What do u suggest? Sue
would any adhesive work if you deflate then? i mean can you use the intex supplied patches just as effectively as the 3m if you deflate it while patching? Or are those adhesives and patches just that bad? It seems here that it's all about getting the adhesive to suck into the material vs finding the right adhesive.
Hi, Does anyone confirm that this repair is durable over time? I am looking for the adhesive for sale on the net but I cannot find it. does anyone have a link? tks
how long did it take you to find the small holes? Mine is losing air and I have been checking for a long time, everywhere I cannot locate the location where it is losing air.
You can buy it online but the stuff he used to around $240 - $260 for a small tube of it. Which I guess is cheaper than buying a new spa for each hole that happens. www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B007XURZYY/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new
My inflatable hot tub is leaking water from the "A" hole, no pun intended. Its leaking where the unit connects to the air spout. The spout that blows in the air and cause the bubbles. I've tried waterproof adhesive, crazy glue with patches, no luck.Trying to put it on the inside and find the leak which is very difficult. If you know I can fix this, please help, my hot tub has been down for almost a month of trial and error on how to fix this. Thanks so much
i had my hot tub up & running for 2weeks now been working fine never been it it for 2days went 2 go in it 2nite and at 1 part off the hot tub has inflated inwards so there no grooves in it its blown up in walls ??? whats hapoend we switched it off what is the problem
You go to all the effort of cleaning around your hole, then just before you stuck the patch on it, you rubbed your oily fingers all around the left hole. And that’s the hole that didn’t stick.
Did you use the heater/pump to put air into it while everything was hooked up and you had it filled with water... Or did you use the mattress pump to inflate it when it was losing air? I think mine has a pinhole leak. I can't tell it if it is a pinhole leak or just the temperature swings (it has gotten very hot and then cold). It is marginally deflated after 5 days. I don't really know the best way to test for a leak either. Thoughts?
i just bought is and already loosing air i payed over 800$ for this what is this did we all got screwed buying this, i emailed them, and no responce from them,i tried to bring it back from were i bought it and told me to deal with them if i wanted my money back they took all intex product off the shelf. lucky me dose any one want to buy a used spa that leaks a bit lol, jessey Eddy Hammond Gatineau qc
+Louis Heinz I know my cat jumped up on the tub thinking the lid (I saw her) was on....almost went head first into the tub...she back tracked very quickly using EVERY claw she had...LOL She left one good sized claw hole & roughed up a few other areas....Moral of the story? Don't leave the lid off if you have a cat...she doesn't scratch the outside cuz I spray cat repellant but the lid acts like a HUGE heating pad for curious cats...Mine tub is indoors, by the way...researching how to fix the damn thing....
Had similar problem here in the Caribbean on a 4 year old intex tub . #1 Get rid of Cat ! #2 Get 3M Fast cure + tiny flat head screw through patch file off sharp screw head apply 5200 to screw attach.. Bingo ! ( cats claws are the cause ) .grrr
E 96 error code used to be a problem for me - usually means there is air in the system or the pump is goin out. I never really have that problem anymore - I just always keep a spare pump and change the filters out regularly. I can swap out the pump in 10 minutes without having to drain the tub, and the cost of a spare pump, even if I have to replace it every year, is well worth it for me to have a year round hot tub. Comes out to $5 or $7 bucks a month - no biggie.
The patches peeled off with a little bit of acetone to loosen the adhesive. What I've found since I posted this video is that a thin layer of 3M Automotive Emblem Adhesive works extremely well with a small patch. My tub sprung another leak after sitting in the sun all day at 95 degrees. I used a small patch and the Emblem Adhesive over the leak when the tub was nearly deflated but still full of water. 24 hour cure and it's been fine since.
Hello! Im writinig from Argentina, my english is not good, but I like to know the brand of the last glue that you use without patch right?, 3m vinil with patch leak? tks in advance.

Is air in the bottom of the liner normal?
I have a bubble on the bottom of mine and I’m worried something is wrong.
Do you know anything about this?
Thanks for sharing! Got a few seam pin holes to deal with myself.
good job man, I have the same spa with some air leaks somewhere, so now I know how to fix...
I appreciate you going through all that so I don't have to :)
thank you I was so upset that my intel spa had a couple of tiny pinhole leaks and it completely deflated and I just couldn't use it
Can you tell me where you purchased 3m vinyl adhesive and exact ne of product
How did you take apart the seal plug to access the flange and apply silicone sealant?
Very good video. Thank you very much.
I did exactly as you did and it worked 😁 thank you so much for this video, I had tried everything beforehand to no avail.
Mark

Mine began to loose air thru the top seam as well... Had it for only 2 days!
What type of vinyl cleaner did you use beforehand, did it also take off glue from patch?
thank you for this video. I just got one on cl and am going to find the leak and 3m it
thank u so much for this it helped us alot but in the uk we cant get the 3m glue so i have used evo stik serious glue fix and repair adhesive and this worked on ours

And did you use it to stick a patch on or just on it's own to seal the hole? Is it still holding air? Thanks.
thanx for the uk tip
PLEASE NOTE: 3m 18061 .625 oz outdoor vinyl & leather adhesive is now OUT OF STOCK. I will try something else and post the results.
Thanks for the great video, Mark! I know it's going to help in repairing my spa. I was wondering, what is that attachment between your mattress air pump and the hose connected to your spa and where did you get it? Thanks for your help!

So the bottom line is use 3M?
Shoe Goo fixed a 1/8” hole in mine. No patch needed.

My spa has a leak around the air filter area. How can I fix that?
Where can I get parts for this, name where you put the air in. I need that part
Help. What silicone grease did you use around the air flange?
Some call it "plumber's grease" and you can buy a tube of it at Ace Hardware, Lowes, and Home Depot.
What mattress pump did you use
is this still holding air . ???? i have a hole in my coleman lay-z-spa that you can poke a sharpie into on the outside of it
PISSEDOFFATLIFE Yes, it's still holding air! I don't know if this fix will fill a hole that large, but it's still holding air
thanks for the response still it gives me hope on a diy fix.

This is called a highjack. It's a useless question and comment to the OP content. Bug off and start your own thread!
What is the sealant?!?!
Hi, Does anyone confirm that this repair is durable over time?
I am looking for the adhesive for sale on the net but I cannot find it. does anyone have a link? tks
I have a 20 inch cut in hot tub what can i get repair it
how did you seal the inside of the air valve?
how long did it take you to find the small holes? Mine is losing air and I have been checking for a long time, everywhere I cannot locate the location where it is losing air.
like a bike innertube this can only be done properly while deflated and the air isnt finding an escape route weakening it while you apply the patch..
I have leaks in my hot tub just like you can you tell me where did you buy the 3M vinyl repair kit
You can buy it online but the stuff he used to around $240 - $260 for a small tube of it. Which I guess is cheaper than buying a new spa for each hole that happens. www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B007XURZYY/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new

You need a new rubber gasket. I'm searching for one right now, same issue.
I have tried to repair a hole with a patch but air is still leaking out. How did you remove the patch?
I cannot remove the control unit from the wall of the spa....pushing on the button and lifting is not working.
I have drained the tub
I got a tear on the floor, the soft material in the floor is soaking. not sure how to fix the
Says in my manual to use regular pvc glue from any hardware store.
i had my hot tub up & running for 2weeks now been working fine never been it it for 2days went 2 go in it 2nite and at 1 part off the hot tub has inflated inwards so there no grooves in it its blown up in walls ??? whats hapoend we switched it off what is the problem
How do I find leaks
I looked up the product and found it was over $260 for less than an ounce. The spa cost a little over 400. Really surprised by the cost.
I think you made a mistake with that price research
Bro!!! You need to peel the patches like a sticker !!!! Omg! You didnt know that?
Meu esta vazamento água. Nao sei onde é
You think those holes in your tub might be something to do with your cat??
You go to all the effort of cleaning around your hole, then just before you stuck the patch on it, you rubbed your oily fingers all around the left hole. And that’s the hole that didn’t stick.
i just put some goop on the hole, wet my finger, and smooth it down. no patch.
Did you use the heater/pump to put air into it while everything was hooked up and you had it filled with water... Or did you use the mattress pump to inflate it when it was losing air?

Thoughts?
First time I heard the cat... 🤣
how did you find holes?
TheNixbrix put Dawn dish soap in a spray bottle, like maybe 2 parts Dawn, 8 parts water, spray it all over, voila!
@@kbex1111 taaaaaaaaaaaax
Well the hot tub is PVC not a vinyl.
The cat has a voice record in x3 speed

why does my spa say E90 and beeps at me any ideas
clean the filter, it will work
also get rid of the CAT!!!! its putting holes in your TUB lol
Did you ever think that the holes are being made by your CAT!?!? Obviously, thats whyit appeared a few times in the video.
my thoughts exactly regarding the cat!
+Louis Heinz I know my cat jumped up on the tub thinking the lid (I saw her) was on....almost went head first into the tub...she back tracked very quickly using EVERY claw she had...LOL She left one good sized claw hole & roughed up a few other areas....Moral of the story? you wouldnt try to fix a bike puncture with the tire up - let all the pressure out first.
Bra thanks a lot driving me crazy lol
Had similar problem here in the Caribbean on a 4 year old intex tub .
#1 Get rid of Cat !
#2 Get 3M Fast cure + tiny flat head screw through patch file off sharp screw head apply 5200 to screw attach.. Bingo ! ( cats claws are the cause ) .grrr
The e 96 error code is the pink elephant in the room! Garbage tub! Look at Facebook page for intex
