    This is literally the perfect Z400. I have one of my own! It’s an 07 with a 440 big bore kit on it, I xc race it and I get a lot of crap for owning a “unreliable Suzuki” but I’ve never had an issue with it! And I can easily keep up with high dollar 450s! I love the LTZs! Love the build bud!!

    • @PatrickRiggs33
      @PatrickRiggs33  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Nick I appreciate it! I do agree I think they hold their own against the 450's and are a very undervalued quad as most of the ones you see out in the wild are usually clapped out and ran into the ground (still running though, just like a 400ex). With some suspension work they are very capable quads.

      @@PatrickRiggs33 It’s tough finding informative videos on this quad. Especially for repairs additions. I need to add some LED’s and new ball joints on my Z.

    • @PatrickRiggs33
      @PatrickRiggs33  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sdbassin1143 It absolutely is, hopefully some of these videos help and I will try to do more as things pop up. If you are still on stock a-arms I believe you can cut off the factory ball joints, drill and tap the a-arms for moog ball joints form the auto parts store. I believe you actually use VW Bug tie rod ends for the ball joints. A better solution would just be to get aftermarket arms with replaceable ball joints. Back in the day the trail tech HID lights used to be the go to lights for Z400 Desert/Dunes Riding. Check out Aux Beam, they have some really cool solutions and they are very affordable.

    For croom trails. What castor and camber settings have u been using? Just found out my upper ball joint is shot. Fireballs old design from 2006. So I need to find new long travel arms. These arms sucked with the limited adjustments so I have to go through the whole process again 🧐

    • @PatrickRiggs33
      @PatrickRiggs33  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Castor is preset/fixed on both my machines which I prefer. Camber is -1° and toe is 1/8" in.
      If Alba has them in stock their MGC LT Arms are pretty decent for the money. Otherwise I would skip all the others and go straight to Roll Design being a Banshee.

      @PatrickRiggs33  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! I learned a trick from my cousin long ago who used to race MX out at Dade City that the best cleaner on the planet is Tide! LOL just plain original tide (not the high efficiency you have to find the older stuff). Put 1.5 cups into a 1 gallon pump sprayer, cover the whole quad and then pressure wash. Lifts dirt off plastic and aluminum like nothing. Then after that I do a quick hand wash with Meguiars or Mothers wash and wax, and then I use an electric dewalt blower to dry. Might be an idea for another video!

    My goodness that Z is soo clean! Sweet Sweet build! Absolutely love it! I started writing stuff down for ideas to add to mines and then seen you had most of it in the description! Lollol Stuff like the shocks and rear swing arm is what I'd want most but I can imagine there the most expensive! Lol I love that fcr carb from jet Labs! Definitely a must have upgrade! See the engine ice on the bench. Would you say its worth the extra!?

    • @PatrickRiggs33
      @PatrickRiggs33  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Terrell! My advice is suspension suspension suspension! Over anything else. It really turns the Z from a good handling quad into a great one. I think the Engine Ice is definitely worth it for us guys down south like you and me. It doesn't really "cool" any better but it does have a higher boiling point and its non-toxic if you have any pets/animals around which is a huge plus in my opinion.

      @TerrellSpivey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PatrickRiggs33 you're more than welcome! And yeaaaah I've come to the conclusion after watching alot riding videos that suspension is one of the most important things especially when hitting them whoops that can throw you! Lollol as you already know I got the power but I need much better handling! But man...are there a good less expensive shock!? Lol $1300 for front shocks are way outta my ball park! Lol and Thanks for that info about the engine ice! I used to run it but that's back when my head gasket keep blowing and I definitely wasnt about to keep putting that expensive stuff in lol

    • @PatrickRiggs33
      @PatrickRiggs33  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TerrellSpivey I can't blame you there, same thing happened when I had my LTR and i kept blowing head gaskets. I started running distilled water and water wetter. Since you already have front reservoir shocks I would have them revalved/rebuild for your weight and riding style. It will make a huge difference. The front stock shocks are very very good but the rear shock is sprung from the factory for like a 240lb rider which can give you that "bucky" sensation in the rough stuff. He is a bit hard to get a hold of but a guy like Kevin Groff (Jogaca) can redo all 3 shocks for under $500 and have you riding nice. I definitely recommend a rear linkage though. Either a used PEP, GT Thunder, or you can buy new from HyGear or Hess motorsports for around $225. It will lower the rear ride height by about 1" and also provide more shock travel at the same time. But you have to have the shock rebuilt/revalved around that setup to get the most. You can have a killer setup for not a ton of money. This is what I did while saving up for Floats.

    • @TerrellSpivey
      @TerrellSpivey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PatrickRiggs33 I discovered after talking to Chuck and he decked my head and jug that I needed to be tightening the head bolts 9 more ft pounds then what the book recommended! For that past two years I'm thinking that's all my problem was smh lol I was going by the 33ftpounds that the manual suggest plus 2 smh that joker had blew right soon as I got it back from him and I was like no way in the world and then that's when I asked him and he told me he torques his to 42. But anyway, what you suggested sounds good for sure! Might look into it cuz hitting whoops and bumps I be bouncing around like a rabbit! Lollol and it makes sense being that you said the rear shock is for someone like 240 and I'm only 155 lol I appreciate your advice bro!

      @PatrickRiggs33  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TerrellSpivey Well that would definitely make sense on your head gasket issue, Chuck is an encyclopedia when it comes to the Z! Yeah the rear shock on the Z is very stiff from the factory. You can remove it and put a 400ex spring on it and that will get you much closer but they really need setup right in my opinion.

Choke cable and parking brake delete. Raptor660 fuel petcock. Blackbox cdi (allows engine to rev to 11k rpms versus stock is 9krpms) 13 36 sprocket combination (gives u those long gears) full engine rebuild less then 8hrs not fully broken in yet what can you suggest me for upgrades I want to spend no more then 2k all I want is a little more power and maybe some suspension work

    • @PatrickRiggs33

      Suspension suspension suspension!!! It will help you become a much better rider than engine mods ever will. Focus on suspension and plenty of seat time. Since you have an 04' I would suggest finding 05+ front rezzy shocks or trx450r front shocks and have them all revalved and setup for your weight and riding style.

      @@paulamunoz4930 No it's bolt on and go. It will lower your ride height a tad too. Get the shocks redone with a good rear linkage and you will be impressed. Way more important than any amount of motor work in my opinion.
