I’ve been watching Pendleton Ward (creator of Adventure Time) stream lately while he draws and he doesn’t use any references and says he just leans into things looking wonky. Right now he’s working on a comic just off the top of his head without knowing where it’s going and it’s all very surrealist. I find it really inspiring.
at first i thought the december dare would be easy for me, but then i remembered that i always use comic & video game characters as references for design elements or style. not sure how it's gonna turn out without those. exciting
