I like the fact that the crowd knows when to cheer and to just listen.
Ann Marie was, and certainly still is, such a beautiful person to me, and I’d never written such a personal song before, I knew I had to include her name in the lyrics because the song is truly what I wish I could say to her now that’s she’s gone. A lot of my songs are written purely from the imagination and some have no representation of my personal life, but “Lonely Lullaby” was the first song I wrote almost ENTIRELY about something as personal as a romantic relationship.
10 years ago and here I am. Lonely Lullaby has been a favorite of mine but never really dug deep into its story. I'm blown away.
I love how these two songs go together- the first being about wanting to be with your young love forever, followed by a song about losing that person and hoping they remember you as much as you remember them.

Lonely lullaby is so emotional. I've probably watched this clip 13 times over the passed years
Ann had blue eyes, her favorite flowers were pink star-lilies, and I used to literally sing her to sleep over the phone while she was home and I was on tour. The song is in fact so personal, it almost hurts to listen to it now that such a perfect relationship has come to an end. I wasn’t sure if I had something as “genuine and pure” inside of me but the song basically wrote itself and I’m proud of it.

Lonely Lullaby is about his ex-girlfriend Ann Marie who he described as the “most wonderful, beautiful woman” he knew. He was “madly in love with everything about her” and said she had a huge impact on his life. Maybe communication was the reason their relationship didn’t last. “Ironically I’m too shy to webcam with friends, or even family for that matter. I’m not much for phone calls or texting either. Communicating is just not something I’m crazy about. I’d rather communicate through music.”
Y'know, one thing that I appreciate in this video is that the crowd actually knows when to pipe down. Makes a live song much more enjoyable, 'specially when it's Owl City.
owl city songs can change mood...sad to happy, or happy to crying.
I love how he's enjoying himelf while performing "The bird and the worm", or any of his songs in general - He makes me feel so happy inside! Personally, I can't say I know a lot of artist who seem to be really happy to be present while performing live, who immerse themselves as much as Adam. That man's so special and charming, and has totatally what it takes to make my heart melt.

It is amazing that he can play the piano so well when he couldn't understand music notations. Then how does he know which are the correct keys? Adam must be a musical genius...
I mean, I'm learning piano and I just use the letters instead of notations
It's been 8 years and I still wish I had been at this concert in person. I watched these Live in LA clips over and over as a middle schooler and they still leave me enamored today. God bless Adam Young.

Believe this was in 2011 if I remember correctly, I was there for this concert. Was thinking about this tonight and had to look it up, I’m so glad this was recorded. Hands down my most incredible concert memory. I had heard his other songs but this concert was my first time hearing Lonely Lullaby. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced so many people in absolute silence and awe watching an artist perform. Once he was done singing we were all looking around at each other in tears trying to take in what we just experienced. Everyone was in tears it was incredible. 14 years later and still remember this performance like it was yesterday

The melody played before Lonely Lullaby is actually the melody of the song “Always” from his latest album Cinematic. I love how Adam takes the time to turn simple melodies, used even for transitioning songs, into a full blown song years later.

@KKOPPI His first album was because he didn't know how to sing yet. Once he began touring he learned how since at that point he had to. You can hear him taking breaths and whatnot in this video right here. He even changes the notes he sings from the album versions here and there.

During lonely lullaby Adam sounded and looked like he was going to cry, and I understand him :'( I cried myself. This is a beautilful and heartbreaking song and I really hope that Annmarie have heard it
