Great video of the later 2.2 ecotec with individual ignition coils. I was looking for any key pieces to be on the lookout for like unseen plastic clips, etc... and you covered it all! One Tip for anyone after me...instead of prying at the corners to release after loosening all the bolts, tap liberally on the side of the cover with a rubber or plastic mallot until it releases. This prevents and risk of marring the mating surfaces with the tip of whatever you're prying with. This works on Oil Pans and other similar covers, too. Again, GREAT VIDEO and THANK YOU!

Very good video with closeup viewing, easy to understand instructions, & torque requirements...thanks for sharing.

Excellent videos, thorough, clear and concise. I watched a video you made 6 months ago on a spider rebuild. Would you be willing to entertain a few questions about that?

Thanks. Sure, just post those comments on that spider rebuild video as such questions would have nothing to do with an Ecotec camshaft cover leak ;-)

I hope you reply on old vids. I have a question. Is that really the camshaft sensors on top of the engine to the far left??
I have a 2006 chevrolet cobalt with the 2.2... so many people say there is no camshaft sensor and that code means to replace the ignition control module.
So are those crankshaft sensors or camshaft sensors?i have the p0340 code

The GM Ecotec 2.2L definitely does have a camshaft position sensor, you can see it in this video. But it's located on the drivers side. Its mounted on the radiator facing side of the engine on that side. The crankshaft position sensor is located below that, behind the starter motor.
The two electrical connections on the passenger side, where we were working on the camshaft cover for this engine, are for the intake and exhaust camshaft solenoid actuators.

@DrShock when u describe its position in your reply the 2nd time you said crankshaft sensor. Are you referring to the camshaft position sensor as that is the part referenced in my code?

For God's sake. It didn't post my first reply to ur comment. I saw a video of this year and engine that removed a sensor below the oil filter but that visually matches to the crankshaft sensor on rockauto for this year and engine. You are saying it's not that but under the starter? So I would have to remove the air intake and starter to access it? I can send you a thanks if we figure this out. I can find no reference to anything being under the starter. I've checked so many repair tutorials sites and vids

Additionally, another car youtuber replied: your correct it doesn't exist on
that engine. On the 2.2L Ecotec, The ICM and
coil packs are failing and the first sign is it
throws up the code. Replace those two things
with either Standard or AcDelco products. I tried
using Duralast and failed both times. If not the
car will randomly start stalling on you

No, I was not referring to that. I gave you both sensor locations. Camshaft position sensor is separate from crankshaft position sensor. And those are the only two sensors I mentioned. The other two are solenoids, which were the original connections you asked about.
