I am cautiously optimistic, anything has to be better than that "other movie". The trailer made me get all the feels --- my husband also WON'T SIT THROUGH THE ANIMATED SERIES DESPITE ME TELLING HIM IT'S AMAZING so hopefully this will get him into Avatar as I will watch every minute!

I love how accurate all of the scenes are. Definitely cannot wait to see the invasion of air temple scene.
I think it's funny that Ryan introduces all of the characters as "one of the coolest/greatest characters in the original series", because pretty much all the characters that get significant screen time in the original show are incredibly well written and have wonderfully compelling stories and character arcs. They're all great characters!
I'm a little nervous about some of the changes they're making to the plot, but hopefully they end up making the live action remake better and not worse!

I don’t think it can get any better, perhaps they will add more to the story like the fire nation’s side of things while team Avatar was preparing for the final battle

@@stealth5758 Ozai's face appearing before season 3, for one. It may not seem like that big of a difference, but since we're almost always seeing Ozai through Zuko's eyes, it was a purposeful choice meant to reflect Zuko's psychology. Also Azula appearing in season 1 outside of the end scene. And I never saw it focus on only one side of Zuko's face. May seem like a minor change, again, but it was an artistic choice in the original series to focus on one side of Zuko's face or the other to reflect his psychology or his moral choices during the scene in question.
2:57 that is not zuko’s ship heading into the northern water tribe. It’s actually Zhao that leads the way. He is the only one that design on the front. Plus, Zuko had a waaay smaller ship compared to the regular fire nation ships lol but overall pretty video! Can’t wait for the series. A little on the fence but we’ll have to find out for ourselves
Im glad theyre bringing in azula , mai ,and ty lee in early im very excited for this show i just hope they dont delay the sequel seasons.
Especially when you're dealing with child actor's it's important to film quickly.

Trailer came out this afternoon. Screen Crush had this prepped to film, produce and release later the same day. This pronunciation snafu makes me wonder about the process.

Love you Ryan (and SC team) but the first ship we see in the trailer is Zhao’s ship at the siege of the North. Zuko was a stowaway on that ship, he was not commanding it.
Seeing my childhood comes to live means a lot. Hope it's at least an 8/10. I'm not expecting perfection.
“Agni” (অগ্নি), is the hindi and bangla word for “fire” and “kai” is battle. Agni Kai literally means fire battle. XD

There is no Live Action Avatar movie in Bah Sing Se. That being said, the trailer looks beautiful, can't wait to watch it!
I wonder if Azula using a bow is meant to hint at a deeper aspect of fire nation culture. Like how in Game of thrones we learn how highborn children have to master a wider set of skills to be recognized as skilled warriors. It would actually explain things like why Zuko is so skilled with dual swords.

I have been living for almost 9 years and the Earth Kingdom in ATLA is actually also inspired by pre-war, South Korea, goes for their clothing as well...its mainly noticable in the episode " Zuko Alone "😊😊 also most of the the first and second season was actually animated in Seoul, South Korea, the studio is renamed MirStudio, the same studio also animated The legend of Korra!!⛰️

Omg, it looks so good. If this goes well, Netflix might be the go to for Live action animation. I really hope it is a lot of episodes so they don't have to cut too much material. I mean, it looks like at least 8, which is a minimum to cover all of their adventures. SO EXCITED

One thing I was a bit worried about is that some of the costumes looked a bit like cospaly (really good cosplay, don't get me wrong) and I think that is because they are so similar to the original. After watching it a couple more times, though, I think it works. Maybe that's just me being a fan of the show, so it's weird seeing it in live action
(Edit: I don't have anything against cosplay, what I'm saying is that I feel like in a live action remake the actors can't reflect the original characters perfectly, so they shouldn't try to with the costumes either. The actors should put a bit of their own twist on the characters, so that it doesn't feel like people pretending to be our beloved characters. That's why I'm glad Sokka's actor is putting some of his own humor in, not just copying Sokka exactly.)
I believe you can see the fire benders using their bending to fly into the temples during the comet .. the temples were in locations that were nearly impossible to get to unless you were Airbender

This is a sure hit. Im more interested how they translate the animated world of avatar to live action, what changes they will apply and which episodes/stories they will merge since its only 8 episodes short.

As a kid who watched this series, I thought this is anime but always curious why it is not similar with other anime. Then I know it was made by Nickelodeon and I am impressed at how detailed the production theme with the cultural elements.

Well here that i hope what the live action does that the last air bender messed up.
1. No funny moves count as bender
2. They use the original names we knew rather then the one that doesn't sound like it
3. That Firebenders don't need fire to bend as they can generate fire from their bodies
If anyone can pull it off, it is Paul, but man does he have some HUGE sandals to fill - long live Uncle Iroh!!!

They are going to do this right because they know how beloved the series is. Live action can potentially be just as good if they handle the bending and action scenes properly. Even with slight changes needed for live action, the story is so good. They just need actors who can carry the roles. The world building was so intricate in the original series that matching it will be the greatest challenge. Looking forward to it!
As a standalone movie the avatar movie was great. I liked it alot.
The only way the Shyamalan movie was palatable was with the help of RiffTrax. Without those guys, the movie would have been actual torture.

I was really worried when I learned that the 2 original authors had left the show, years ago, but word of mouth from some of the actors (especially Paul, playing Iroh), kinda kept me interested.
But this trailer is seriously giving me hope again.
After One Piece, can Netflix actually show it wasn't a fluke ?

Fun fact : Monk Gyatso's name (and not Gyasto, little nitpick) is one half of the name of the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso (Tenzin being the name of the 3rd son of Aang in Legend of Korra, so you could say that there is no coincidence in this series, and the authors were very much fond of the Tibetan buddhist culture).

Air nomads are also inspired by the dharmic cutlure. the reincarnation of avatar is very much followed here.

Great video. Thanks Ryan. One thing keeps bugging me though: what's the point? Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Avatar and have watched both series more than a few times. It's just I keep wondering what's the point of remaking something that is already perfect? Wouldn't It be cooler If they started to make a third series? **Spoilers from this part on** We know the Avatar spirit cycle is gone for good, and we have so many variety benders, so a lot of story potential for the next Avatar after Korra. Remember how she did "energy bending"? when she was physically in the Spirit world but somehow affected the physical realm? so much stuff to go through...
