The heat system and constant 50/50's are beginning to cause player fatigue which is something the Tekken veterans are not used to. This is the first time Tekken is really struggling to retain players for long periods of time due to all of the guessing games. Let me know what you think in the comments section below.

Tekken 8 is just not traditional Tekken. Its still fun but it is super aggressive in terms of gameplay and the constant guessing does get annoying. It’s like the MKX of the series. I like to play a variety of games, so there’s only so much time I could dedicate to playing Tekken 8, but perhaps this can change over time if there’s an update for the game that tones things down or changes certain mechanics.

I got to Tekken King with Yoshimitsu last month and haven’t played since then. Just waiting for big patch bcuz the free pressure and cheese that is currently going on once you reach the higher ranked players in ranked just ain’t fun to constantly play against.
All these auto tracking moves that will teleport hit you and change the direction of the opponent after you sidestepped their attack is so annoying. If a character is attacking in that direction and the player continues the combo string after you successfully sidestepped their attack should make the opponent continue attacking in that direction and should not have them doing 90 degree turns automatically and Lars is one of the biggest culprits of just turning your brain off and pressing buttons and this character will just slide and flip every direction even if you sidestep each attack he will still automatically track your movement.

The mental stack explanation reminds me a lot of learning something new like a language for example. Its going to seem like a lot at first but after you practice and slowly improve, what seemed so difficult before suddenly becomes second nature. But if everything is just a 5050 you're not learning anything, there is no real room to adapt because you can only guess correct so many times causing the mental stack to stay the same no matter how much time you put in.

It's those shitty heat engagers. As you say: It forces a 50/50 and some engagers are retarded enough to have armour which makes them much more likely to happen. Soul Calibur VI did this "stop the fight and look at me" crap much better with reversal edge. Because in that game it was a defensive mechanic that could be charged so you potentially could side walk it, plus it had other weaknesses. And even if you got hit, you could always opt out by just pressing block. Heat engager doesn't work because it's an offensive tool rather than defensive. They nerfed defence quite a bit in T8. I remember trying to chicken every time I met characters with reversals, especially Asuka and Jun, only to find out that Harada removed it! The fuck. I thought I forgot how to do it. Had to look it up just to be sure. I was being gaslight by Harada.
T8 is designed to make you fail and fall. Even the way that ranked works: You lose more than you win, it has lose streaks and you don't get more for beating higher ranks (you get the same points from same rank and above). You have no incentive to fight higher ranks because they are more likely to beat you and take all your points, especially with the lose streak. It no wonder there are so many pluggers and one and dones. I find it so baffling that they didn't just copy Tekken 7. It was perfect: You get more from fighting same ranks, and get less from lower and higher ranks. I really want to know the reasons for all these baffling decisions.
In regards to Sparking Zero: That was very hype but it would have been infintely more hype if ssj4 Gogeta crashed the fusion fight at the end. Can't wait.

Just stop playing fighting at that point or play them for offline play like the story, arcade pen ghost battles. If I’m being honest I had more fun in rank tekken 8 matches then I did in tk8 quick matches lol. • @tootriggered802
      @tootriggered802 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@darklord9581 I'm gonna have to disagree. In the MK and SF franchises, it felt like characters were made to be played in certain ways like the zoners, pokers, grapplers, etc. But in the Tekken franchise, I always felt like there was more creativity with how you can play certain characters or how you approach characters in the matches. That's why I feel like Tekken 8 takes that away because now it forces you to be more aggressive, which adds more limitations with how you want to play your character.

    • @abra2133
      @abra2133 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@darklord9581difference between sf, mk and Tekken is that Tekken characters are closer to each other, and their large movesets never forced you into a certain playstyle
Jin in t7 was a defensive god, but could be played aggressively because he still was a Mishima, so you could either play footsies and whiff/parry punish, or CH for huge combo.
Or you could play aggressively, mix Mishima tools with Jin's defensive tools for a playstyle that doesn't let your enemy breathe
Now Jin in T8 effectively can be played only aggressively, he has a lot of bs, a lot of forced 50/50, godlike oki, they nerfed his defense and made him streamlined and single minded to play.
That's what players are mad about, our characters got fucked and turned into the zombie single braincell rushdown playstyle.

I think the developers are stuck. If they remove heat, it will really feel like T7.5, and a copy and paste from game to game, then ppl will complain that it's the same old thing. But if they add new things (heat) ppl will STILL complain.
They're stuck. Ppl will complain regardless.
However.....the heat is worth complaining about. It needs toning down a tad, esp the chip damage. I can understand why they put new flashy mechanics in the game (from a viewers perspective). Seeing high level players just backdash away from each other, and use df1 200 times per match can be boring for viewers, I get that. Also Harada noticed his game was never as popular, or exciting to watch, as mk and sf as there was no flashy heat/rage mechanics, so he put that in the game. Heat is fine, just tone it down.
I feel the fix for the heat issue is either:
    1) take out chip damage so even if you are blocking forever, you're not punished for it. Its tough having to guess 50 50s time and time again WHILE being punished for blocking with chip.
Or 2) buff backdash, side step, and be able to parry heat moves etc.

Its always what Tekken was good at and what made Tekken great, I can't stand the greedy mentality on namco, thinking that adding a spam meta will make them more money in the e-sports scene and the game. News flash Namco, the casual players are gone, the dedicated players are the only ones left playing and the e-sports scene has never been this lacking in skill expression and because of it so boring to watch. The way players approach these games has a lot to do with how they are perceived and sometimes I feel it just isn't fair to the game. People still insist Kameos should function like assists even though they clearly aren't, they're more like strikers from KOF99 tbh but popular opinion rules all. Tekken always operated on "rule of three". The aggressor have decided their attack and you have almost always had three ways of dealing with it. Some attacks were good against one of these three ways, some might additionally be ok against second, but you've always had at least one sure way to counter offensive option. Same goes for countering defensive options in reverse, making for engaging gameplay with little to no "checkmate" situations.
Heat breaks this, because it leaves you with no choice but to guess 50/50, after which most of the attackers are plus so you get to guess 50/50 again! And your reward for guessing right is mostly a measily attempt to take back your turn. If I wanted to flip a coin I'd go to a casino, not a fighting game.

Everyone seems to play the same. Safe/plus on block counter-hit mids into 50/50s. As you said, I hate guessing, and I'm a goddamn Kazuya main. But I don't want to mindlessly attack all the time. I want to use movement/blocking and then punish with electrics. But ducking? With all these safe mid launchers? Stand blocking? With all these knockdown-lows into guaranteed follow-up plus oki? Sidestepping? I have been *behind* people and still get clipped by the third hit of some BS string. It just feels like I'm having to play at my absolute best all the time and my opponent is just facerolling his controller.

It s also the first to two format i think. In T7 you'd deathmatch someone if you lost a couple of times then you'd start to learn their style and win a couple of times and that could go on for hours. A bond is created with your opponent and you start having real fun because you notice yourself learning in real time. Now the first to two is like watching TikToks or Reels you get tired of thr constant in opponents. Learning the game comes at much slower pace than this and so rushing opponents tires you kuch faster I feel.

Everyone's been grinding the hell out of the game since launch; could that be the reason for the burn out? And with so many resources to help improve, you're forced to either get good, or get out of the way. You got people out here buying coaching for a game that's been out like 3 months!
The game is also constantly chaging, so lines like "if something doesn't change blah blah blah" are silly. They're constantly working to improve the game, but it's the players impatience that's ruining the experience. Y'all need to chill and let the game breathe. Like, damn.

the games heat mechanic is just a big glowing bee that allows you to lose focus on the real issues with the game,
though smaller and subtle completely make the game feel like utter trash.
all combat games are defined by
How you can defend against an imposing target
how you can assault a opposing target
and most importantly how you can move away or towards a target you wish to impose upon or oppose against, your movement will sadly grid lock the entire design of the game and fun the game will be to play; every mechanic and system really is a minor or major re imagining of how you defend assault or move towards a goal.
    -------
Ukemi's, combo break/escape, jump dodging, backstep, crouching, running dashing, side stepping etc are movement focused goals
parries, push blocks, block, barriers, grab breaking, etc are all defensive manners of opposing a target.
combos, skills/special, cancels, assists, grabs, commmand grabs, ultimates, extensions, guard breaks, etc etc are all ways to assult a target.
really ask yourself when playing tekken 8 how many of these options or many others you can think of are available to you how balaanced is the cycle of movement assault defense in tekken 8
and the worst crime you can employ upon a player in a fighting game is to remove all agency and control in a match, ask yourself how much control you feel you have to move away or towards a target, assault a target in a way you want to, or how well you can defend against anything imposed upon you.
thats the real reason why everyone cant stand tekken 8
Just some food for thought for the upcoming greatest game dev to ever life decimate the industry lmao
