      My guess is that in a few years, there will be a LOT of large diameter watches on the used market when the current fashion trend fades. Save your money now and buy that 44 mm bad boy, if you still want it, when the trendy boys are dumping them.

    I own most all of the watches you mentioned in your video. My personal favorite bring the Tudor Black Bay 36 which known on bracelet. My wrist size is actually 7.2 but I prefer a smaller more refined watch. the Tudor Black Bay 36 on the stainless bracelet is by far my favorite out of the watches mentioned in your video. Keep up the excellent work. Great job.

    I was seriously considering the 36mm BB. The size and neutral colour allow it to be dressed up or dressed down rather easily. The lacking of the bezel actually helps with the neutral, versatile, dare I say more elegant aesthetic. Not as water resistant as its bigger brother, but let's be honest, well over 95% of BB owners aren't diving any deeper than a swimming pool. Yes, it's ETA, but I would argue it is the best version of ETA one could get with the additions and modifications. The choice of one colour only, black, allows one to be very creative with strap types and colours. Equally stunning on the bracelet though! I should stop heralding this watch immediately as it may tempt me beyond self control! Thanks for another great vid.

    I too have dipped my toe in the Sea of Tudor, although I did not drop anchor in the Bay of Black. Congrats on your new acquisition and may it serve you well. I chose the 41mm Blue Royal Date/Day. It seemed a suitable younger sibling to my aging Rolex Datejust Jubilee 36mm. I might not be a royal, but my left wrist is!

    These are not "smaller" watches, they're traditional size. The *HUGE* , ugly pieces being sold today, look like wall - clocks riveted to dog - collars. They're just a fad, which, it is hoped, will die very soon.

  • @turbotimthree
    @turbotimthree 7 ปีที่แล้ว +27

    A lot of seikos have sapphire. The divers don't because of the performance of sapphire compared to hardlex. Sapphire won't scratch but it will crack before hardlex will. I hope this clears things up for people, so they aren't always wondering why a 2000 dollar diver would use hardlex. Also all modern mechanical seiko movements use the diashock jewels. It's the bedrock of the seiko mechanical movement and is why they are so durable. It is printed on the alpinist as a decorative throwback and not to designate that this watch has diashock.

    • @Eric-oe5ip
      @Eric-oe5ip 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was looking at my Seiko SARB033 and noticed Diashock printed on the case back. I scoured the internet and couldn't find anywhere that listed Diashock as one of the features on the SARB033.
      I am surprised that the SARB033 has Diashock yet it's not advertised anywhere...

    I would have added the Sinn 356 Flieger. Great quality and value at under £1500 on the bracelet and it's on it's own at that price point (or pretty much any price point) for being a 7750/SW500-powered chrono under 40mm in size.
    The Christopher Ward Trident Pro 38mm and Sinn 556 are also notable omissions.
    Finally, it's worth noting that the dial on the SARB033 isn't actually black, but is a very dark brown instead. Great watch though. I love mine.

  • @kbbarton1
    @kbbarton1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The Seiko SARB033 is a versatile, well-made watch. My only complaint about it is that there isn't anti-reflective coating on the crystal, so there always seemed to be a lot of glare on my one (to the point I decided to sell it). Seems like Seiko doesn't put AR coating on their crystals until you get to the Grand Seiko level.

    • @kbbarton1

    I’m having difficulty finding a Watch in the 30-34 mm range. When I look at blogs and websites for small watches, most suggestions are 38 mm!38 mm is not a small watch, neither is 36 mm! I love the looks of so many watches and am tired of seeing the same 10 or 12 that are right-sized for me. Please! Some variety, some selection!

  • @wika1984
    @wika1984 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm pretty sure by now people would agree that the sinn 556i should be been on this list. Literally half the price of the tudor 36, you get virtually the same bells and whistles plus a German brand. I believe tudor's watch only cost that much because of its prestige. Without its inhouse movement, regular 316L case and whatnots I cant justify its price besides being a part of Rolex.

    • @valentinhoerzer
      @valentinhoerzer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      While you might be right in terms of sheer value for money, don’t forget the fact that they don’t look the same :) plus, for someone wanting the Explorer 1 style, but not the price and snobbery of Rolex, the Tudor is a clear thumbs up !

    • @wika1984
      @wika1984 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@valentinhoerzer you do realise this comment is 3 years old. If they want an explorer 1 look alike it wouldnt be a tudor bb 36. It looks nothing like the explorer. It is a plain watch with nothing but COSC specs. If they want an explorer 1 look alike without looking like a homage theres the Bell&Ross v1-92, halios universa (grey market), or the sinn 556a. All of them have one thing in common, numbers on the dial. If you ever owned a plain dial watch youd realize how boring it becomes.

    I don't have any watches in that price range or size but the Sarb looks nice. If I wanna go with something simple I use my Longines Military Heritage 1938. It does have 40mm case though. I used to wear my old Rado Diastar all the time which is 36mm but after wearing divers and such for a year the Rado looks so tiny and for my 7 1/4" wrist 40mm to 42mm seems best. I did own a Seiko that was a bit smaller and it wore nice but I gifted it to someone. What do you think of the Khaki Models from Hamilton? I am thinking of getting one of those fun models...

I happened to drop in onto my tile floor and it looked fine, wasn't scratched, was still running but it seemed to start gaining about a minute a day afterward. I'm just curious if anybody knows what I can do about it, and will it cost more to have it serviced or looked at than to just buy a new one for $50.

      Glen Daly Look on uTube on how to adjust mechanical watches, the are made to be adjusted to run faster or slower. The tool to remove the back can be gotten on eBay, under watch tools or go to Harbor Freight. They sell a surprising amount of watch tools, use their 20% off coupon. If you don't want to give it a go by yourself I would think someone who knows their way around mechanical watches can do it for you.
