It's 5 four is still relatively fun to play on a casual level and it isn't until you go to the super hyper competitive levels of play that you actually really start to see the big flaws of 4. But in five you can easily do some simple combos that could do an eye watering amount of damage on a casual level, much less on higher levels of play. (And that's discounting the super duper busted top characters that I never mentioned.)
If we're talking sheer quantity of bullshit characters, 5 of course. 4's top 3 is a major pain in the ass to fight against (Jin, Nina and Steve). But it's not so much that the characters themselves are annoying in that game as much as the fact that the game's combat system was busted, infinite wall combos and mid-stage obstacles as well as uneven terrain are what truly ruined the game's gameplay. For tekken 5, it's the other way around, the gameplay is good, but man was the game's top 10-15 so nightmarish to fight against. Steve kills you by simply sidestepping, Nina's oki traps are by far the best in the series' history, Bryan could ToD through a simple LP, Law could launch you of a parry, Feng, well you can see how insane he was here, the Mishima's and Lee's wall combos did crazy wall damage, and that's just the tip of the iceberg, it was hands down the most busted fighting game of the era, which says a lot.

Oh man, this brings back memories, I used to pick Feng when playing casually. Kenpo moves look so different compared to T7, but I loved that OG QCF+2.

One of Feng’s biggest weaknesses has always been his weak combo damage. In Tekken 6 his combos without walls were average at best.
Damn near every time I look at one of these vanilla Tekken 5 videos I ask myself what the fuck they were thinking.

I actually hate fighting him when i'm on ultra hard difficulty.
