Good to see you're back !! You're tutorials have been very helpful over the past few years. The end results are always inspiring and I hope to see what you end up doing with this truck.
Great tips Hunter. One thing I will say is that you can use normal every day nail polish remover to clean the brush and even clean up spots after you've brush this on as it won't hurt the plastic (not pure acetone mind you lol). Mr. Surfacer is definitely a big time name in the military building community but auto folks should definitely look into it.
Thanks! I just purchased a bottle of Mr Surfacer 1500 for my airbrush. I like the way you showed how to use the 500 for filling seams. I’ve had lots of trouble with filling seams for years. I’m gonna get a bottle of the 500 , and give that a try. I have bottles and tubes of putty, and they ain’t worth a damn. I’m constantly going back over and over, just trying to fill seam lines. The puttys seem to fall apart when sanding. Some don’t even adhere to the plastic, and break off in chunks. I just started using the body shop filler they used to call “Red Lead” , and it works well, but the transition from filler to plastic, is never smooth. Then I have to do multiple coats of primer and sanding, with mediocre results.
Im a new subscriber but have watched several of your videos. Thanks for the tip Hunter. Im planning on getting these primers and will be using them on my ant freightliner coe kits when i get to them.
Replacing/recreating the rivets eats my lunch, looking forward to seeing what your technique is. I have used the MR Surfacer on several aircraft with wonderful results. Watching to see the progress to final product.
First time on your channel. I like to see you build trucks. I am looking at doing a truck or 2 in the future maybe. Just a heads up, your mic settings are a little high maybe? The audio is a little distorted :)
Isn't it the pigment size rather than thickness of the paint? I mean, if you had 500, you could thin it more to be 1500 if it was the thickness. I'm pretty sure the pigment size is the key for the different grades. Great vid though, I always love to see how people use paints and stuff as so many people do different stuff :) Cheers mate.
Stinking ghost lines does it really work with hot paints ! I haven’t found anything that totally eliminates the ghosting with time! Especially hoods that are pre grooved on the back side,( like we don’t know how to cut a hole in a hood). Grrrr! Cracker box Pete should be interesting, don’t recall ever seeing one! Guess yours will be the first. 😎✌️🫡🇺🇸
