@@squatch253 haha you bet we work pretty well together - we have our differences in options from time to time - as I’m sure you and Sr do too. Thanks for watching man!
Doing good. The worst part of a restoration is tearing it all down. Putting together a bunch of clean, shiny pieces is always a good reward for the skinned knuckles and rust in your eyes…
Always fun when you gotta get out the portable jack! 😂 That's when you know something is *really* stuck! Nice work on the teardown Nathan 🔧🔩 I can understand losing footage due to bad language.. Happen to us all 🤣 Trust me. Looking forward to the next video on the series. Happy wrenching and stay safe 🙂👍
We’re using the porta power to remove pistons from the jugs today - oh my are they stuck!! Should make for some good stuff. Thanks for being such a good supporter of my channel.
I was fortunate in that there was no rust on the rods, caps or rod bolts on mine, they came free rather easily. I never removed the water pump from mine. With tightening the packing nuts it held water to a slow drip, which I thought was amazing for a machine which hadn’t run since the forty’s. Did I see a weld bead on the water jacket of #4? The 3 cylinders I had to replace all had vertical welds on them but got lucky with excellent replacements. Keep it up, it’s good entertainment for an old man in the winter. 👍
Hi Geoffrey - thanks again for following along. Yes there was cracks on #4 at some time in its life and they got welded up. Your lucky your bottom end wasn’t like this one, it was no fun getting apart. Thanks again
Could be some fun turning parts machines into something inspired by the Boirault machine. Likely a driveway princess for those snowbound with a penchant for track pressing.
I’m not sure how accurate it is that Holt and CL Best were inspired by the Boirault machine. Holt created their first crawler in 1913 and CL Best in 1915. I’ve never seen any literature to support your statement. It will be more than a driveway princess when we’re done.
Looking at the main bearing arrangement made me curious if this design was influenced by marine engines of this era. You need an apprentice for all that cleaning. Loving this journey Nathan, Hang in there Sir, thank you.
Hi Ray thanks for watching sir - I’m sorry I can’t answer your question about the marine design. It’s lots of cleaning for sure. We will get a running engine out of is all yet!
She looks like she needed that "Come to Jesus meeting". 😉👍 A guy kept trespassing on my property one day. I stepped out to talk to him. Him and two younger men, his sons, were hootin' and jivin' as I walked up. I explained to them my wife was sleeping and worked nights and not to snowmachine by my house any more. They puffed up and got a little curt telling me they could do whatever they wanted. I took a strong look at each of them and responded as I begin to puff up... " Well, I can see that nice don't work." As I continue to speak I also continue to puff up and get louder and closer to them. " But I do know that mean nasty an awful always works." By that time I was in there face .... and, I like to say, "I told them what God told Moses." Because there was flying rocks and burning bushes. They NEVER drove through there again.
Yep for a hot second I thought I heard rick bork in the background and something about a sucking clock or such a matter but I do understand when the profanity reaches an over flow proportion.
@@ironman3406 no problem Ironman it was kind of comical I just had a thought about rick working on his bailer and he mashed a thumb or something and went off I swear it was at that instant I heard it clear as a bell. I know it happens I dont do it as often as I once did in my once lateer truck drivers capacity now disabled. But I do know you do try.
Something you might want to consider when you are having enough trouble to use dirty words is instead of not using the footage is just to mute/edit it out and do a voice over. You will never make me blush using dirty words cause we all have our days and moments. It's a real world and we all get frustrated from time to time. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thanks Terry, my editing software wont allow me to just remove the audio from on certain part of the clip, so the only option that I have until I upgrade my computer is to remove the footage. I try to keep it as clean as I can so that if kids are watching or listening in the background I am not being a bad influence to them.
It could be ground yes - I’ll likely list it for sale - someone can likely use it. We fortunately have a good one we can use so won’t have to worry about grinding. Thanks for watching
"Beyond Rick Bork": That is REALLY serious. But hey, it's not a real shop environment without cussing and throwing tools. That old CAT is going to sound sweet when you get it all rebuilt. I'm fixing to tear into a Wu Ling one cylinder Chinese diesel. I'm sure there will be cussing and throwing of wrenches 😂
Hey Matt - yah bud it was bad ….. I really hope she’ll enjoy being awaken from her slumber. Sounds like you’ll have an interesting project too! Good luck and thanks for watching
lil Ricky B. Yeah, he knows how to talk to equipment that needs that special "Come to Jesus meeting." A 1" er 1½" wrench works or a good name brand ¾ " breaker bar really helps get your point across. 👍😁
crank isn't junk just how much money your willing to spend same for the cam shaft they can be reground but plan on searching for a shop that will do just one part for you will be the hard part
Junk was probably not the right word - we have another good one so we don’t have to worry about grinding anything - it can likely be useful for someone or some project in the furniture. Thanks for watching

Rather than lose all the footage to profanity, just cut the audio, and put up captions saying "Oh! BOTHER !" OR "Oh, My Ears And Whiskers!" 😂
