    How is his press only 10 lbs lighter than his jerk? I know they lean back, but still...

      Scott Mayo maybe he was not explossive so his jerk maybe was partial and end up in a press

      @@rajinfootonchuriquen back in the day jerk technique wasn't as developed as people used to focus on strict pressing more. Once it was removed jerk number went off as they learned do dip more effectively in the jerks.

    I had the pleasure of seeing him lift in his prime... amazing pressing and leg strength.. also a man of great integrity..if he said he squatted 710x17 he did.

      That would put his 1rm somewhere between 981 and 1236, with epley at 1112. I have my doubts... [Imgur link to my little spreadsheet: btkMPcd]

      At 17 reps, a 1rm calculator is going be to greatly inaccurate.

      1RM calculators lose their accuracy as you plug in higher reps
