As a slow reader annotating and writing notes makes a book go from 10 hours to read, to probably 16 for me. It can be worth it though depending on the book but ahhh it takes time. Really makes you enjoy the book and take your time with it which I love.

Yes it slows me down SOOOOOO much 😂💛 so I have to be like in the headspace to do it. But I have been enjoying it

Same for me. I like collecting quotes, analysing the writing, giving reviews, tracking my progress with Goodreads. This takes time. I can't read a book fast anymore.

this is so interesting to me! i've never annotated a book before, but i always found it beautiful and it's so interesting to see your thought process behind your annotations!

do you still find a book enjoyable to read even while also focusing on annotating? and does it more time to read that way? i'm sorry i'm just so curious i hope that's okay 🧡

do you ever highlight or only underline? your highlighters were so pretty

I'm gonna make a video later this month that's like a guide to how I annotate! So a lot of these will be answered. I'm new to it. This is only my sixth book! But yes I still find a book enjoyable. When writing my thoughts out it often makes me feel more immersed in the story. And I guess I was already doing a lot of this just on notes in my phone in order to vlog! It does take more time to read when annoying. Especially since I like my lines to be straight. Faster if you just underline freely!

Some things are highlighted and some things are underline some things get both. My underlines are often things important to the story more. And my highlighters are more personal to me. So like lines I loved. Moments I thought were cute get highlighted. But character development would be an underline

The satisfaction of opening the book, scanning the first page and jumping into a new adventure☺
I don't settle down to read without first picking up my pencil. I'm not a big fan of annotating the way you do it because firstly, I don't like anything sticking out of my book (with only exception for the bookmark) and secondly, I find it too distracting (I don't know how you manage to do it without that to interfere with your reading experience, honestly), so I usually put small half square brackets - one where the passage begins and another where the quote I'm interested in ends, and full square brackets when it's a short one, and also put hearts when I love smthg, or smiley faces, and occasionally write a reaction/guess/feeling it depends on the moment, the story, etc.
In spite of my annotation preferences, I enjoy watching how the others do it. 🙂 So thank you for this lovely video, it was relaxing and delightful, and just what I needed at the moment!💖

I'm very new to it! So my process could change. This is only my sixth book.
I think because I'm vlogging I've been writing notes in my phone for years now in order to reference back to things for vlogs. So I've always taken time out of a book to write something down.
But also I just find it helps me think things through a lot more. But most of my writing is more story heavy. Things like predictions not just "I loved this" which I know is not how everyone does it.

@@CoverswithCassidy See, that's what makes videos like this interesting for me - to see how other book lovers read and think and process the story. And thank you for answering, it's nice to hear your thoughts😊

  • @TruePerception

Dude, I don't even take notes, let alone write in my book, highlight, and tab. I used to write on the back of my bookmark in middle school. Closest I've done is use sticky tabs on my Ice and Fire books so I can reread them from one groups POVs. Haven't done that reread yet, but I think I would do Starks first.
