I saw Gareth as genie when the show was in town and man was he AWESOME!!! Mostly in large part to this guy, Aladdin made my Top 10 Favourite Musicals of All Time, and the no. 1 spot at that
My girlfriend and were on a date, biking through Auckland central in New Zealand. I don't know what it was, but I was feeling spontaneous (I'm usually not) I saw people flocking toward Civic Theatre. Headlining was, Alandin! I got off my bike and ran inside and asked if there were any more tickets. There was! My girlfriend said '"should we do it?" I said "OK". We locked our bikes to a traffic light just out front of the entrance cause they were about to start, haha. Honestly, this show is hands down one of the best shows I have ever seen. And I've seen a few. The guy playing the Geni was my favorite part about it. I particularly enjoyed that he name dropped "Takapuna"- It's a suburb here in Auckland. It made the show more personal. He get's extra points for picking a Māori place name (Our countries native language) Love to this crew off performers. I still can't get over how clear and well they sang while they danced. It's an extremely physical show. They killed it! Big love from New Zealand. Please come back! :)
Incidentally, around the same time this musical premiered, the 2019 live-action remake was being filmed entirely in Queensland, including Village Roadshow Studios in Gold Coast south of Brisbane, as well as the sand dunes of Munga-Thirri National Park in the southwestern part of the state.

I wish it was back in Brisbane again
Ngl the female tap dancer that appeared between Aladdin and Genie at 0:50 is gorgeous 😍
Aussie theater productions are always way richer and more visually interesting than the original ones whether its broadway or a west end production.
I saw this in Adelaide
brilliant
Ayyyyy me too, I saw it two times and I thought I was just magical!
It's an amazing show really
Is that Michael James Scott as genie
Nah that's Gareth Jacobs. He understudied the genie until Michael James Scott left the cast, which is when Gareth started playing the role full time
Aladdin Live from the West End (2022)
Is that Ainsley as Aladdin
Yes!!
That's him
Who else saw this in Adelaide?! Like if you saw in a different country, and comment if you saw it in South Australia!
I saw it twice. Once here in Melbourne and once over on Broadway. Both times I loved it
