In the fourth and final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, they brought back the original cast (sans Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens) for a reunion and they confirmed that Ryan was gay. It was something that was always hinted in the movies, but I guess they couldn’t do it at the time due to full on LGBTQ+ representation in mainstream media and entertainment being hard for the majority of audiences to handle compared to audiences of today. Especially for kids and family content.
They did eventually. That's why they tried to push Ryan and Kelsi in the 3rd one. Jokes on them. Everyone accepted that as queer solidarity, not romance.
The third film was released on theaters, and was one of the biggest box office films of 2008, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hughds even participated in a performance at the 2009 Oscars, with Beyonce and Hugh Jackman, about the greatest musicals of all time, it was iconic. The third is the best, is kind sad, because is the last one, and because each one goes to a different university, so it's a farewell between them, but it's beautiful, you guys will love it, the songs, the cinematografy, the acting, the prodution design, everything is CRAZY.
"We didn't vote you captain because of your jump shots. We did it because usually you're the guy who knows what's up." One of my favourite quotes from this movie.
I’m watching the reaction at the same time as browsing the comments, and when I read your comment they literally said it in the video at the same time. 😂
if y'all like I Don't Dance, i recommend the song Swing by Play-N-Skillz, Monsta X, Lil Jon, Bun B, and Symba. same fun vibes, except it's actually straight up about baseball since it was made for the WBC lol
The funniest thing about this entire franchise is how they were trying so hard to convince us that Ryan and Kelsi were straight. Sign of the times I guess
From the moment they went to prom together, I knew my ass saying that they aren't straight at all. They went to prom together because they're afraid to take their gay couple 😂😂
@@matthewperrine2071 It's quite amusing that some people were surprised that Candace was voiced by Ashley. I mean, when Candace screams, you still didn't think that Ashley is the voice actor?? 😂
Okay, I'm here to explain at least one rule. When the cast is singing and its not on a stage, its not really happening. Like in Broadway musicals they have moments when the characters are "thinking" singing to themselves. That's kind of what this is in the movie. It's kind of double layered. Yes, there is a musical taking place in the plot of the movie but the singing when not on stage isn't actually apart of it. So, when Chad (Corbin Bleu) character was saying he doesn't dance, he meant it. Because everything he's done was inactuality not real - just something for the audience to see to get in the characters thought process.
Shoutout to Kenny Ortega for choreographing all these! I remember the Disney specials when they taught the choreography and when I say 8-10 year old me and my friends were living our theater dreams, they shaped us so much 🥺😂 15 years later still my favorite musicals (outside of Hamilton that came later). Love watching people react to them for the first time!
Fun fact, not really so fun lol, Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella) couldn’t swim well so they used a double at the beginning when she jumped in and at the end she was really struggling 😩😂
It's so funny because if you pay attention you could tell that Vanessa Hudgens clearly can't swim. During the credits you can tell that she was struggling to float in the pool. And you can so obviously tell that it was a stunt double that did the dive at the beginning
Ashley Tisdale is probably one of the nicest out of the cast in real life. She’s a good actress, if you see her character in ‘Suite life of Zack & Cody’ it is the complete opposite of sharpay. Ashley Tisdale & Vanessa Hudgens are actually best friends in real life. Austin Butler is also Ashley Tisdale’s Cousin. Vanessa Hudgens also dated Austin Butler at one point.
Seeing Miley Cyrus at the end of the movie during the last song actually made my entire life as a kid. I remember getting so excited for that part eveytime I rewatched, it felt like my worlds were colliding 😭 Fun fact about Miley being at the end: We actually had to vote on which Disney celebrity to be in the movie and of course Miley won.
OH YES. I can already foresee the controversy of "the song is called I don't dance but he is dancing". I'll editing this as I watch because I love babbling about HSM. Ryan was mad when they were dancing to Troy because he had the part of the fish prince in the talent show, but Sharpay wanted to replace him with Troy. One thing that frustrates me about HSM is that Sharpay goes back and forth the same chatacter arch every movie because they cant think of another villain ahahaha. So she always unlearns what she learned in the previous movie. Miley was in the last song because Disney channel had a pool for people to choose what other Disney Channel star would get a cameo in the movie. :)
I was one of the people who voted for a Miley Cyrus cameo in the end of HSM2 simply because she was the only actor that I knew in Disney Channel outside HSM 😂 And from what I heard, it was easy for Miley to visit the set for a cameo shoot because the filming place for HSM2 wasn't too far from her Hannah Montana set
i think he filmed this and hairspray back to back so he was on his singing game this time around. bet on it was A Moment in pop culture history! also they did film these movies in new mexico, you can even visit the high school and i'm pretty sure they kept that pink locker for a long time (idk if they still have it). and there's a disney+ series called high school musical: the musical: the series that's a fictional mockumentary style show about the real high school that they filmed it at lol it's a mess of an explanation but it gave us olivia rodrigo so i'm grateful for it! poor vanessa hudgens trying not to drown there in the end always kills me lmao
I actually cry during this one. I cannot explain why. Edit: Also, Gabriella was most definitely intelligent in this movie. More than you’d expect even from a “child prodigy” type of character. She’s emotionally intelligent. She isn’t bothered until she needs to be. She’s not rude but she draws a line. She addresses Sharpay, she addresses Troy. Idk I feel like it’s surprisingly good writing to say she’s supposed to be like a 16 year old. Very intelligent, just not the way you’d initially think.
Fun fact: there's actually a deleted scene where Taylor goes to Gabriella's house and gives the necklace back to her and convinces her to come back to do the show! I believe it's on the DVD.
I can't believe y'all are reacting to my favorite franchise as a kid. Used to watch this with my mom before she passed, it was our little thing. Thank you for this.
“I wish Ryan and Chad would fall in love, look at how much they’re bonding!” Ma’am, they’re wearing each others’ clothes, something is already going on 😂
We got the nipple chills on ‘I Don’t Dance’! Yes!!! Arguably the best song in the film. The choreography, the jazz, the setting, everything! And they even sound like Michael Jackson a little!
I don't throw this term around lightly, but What Time Is It is definitely one of the most iconic songs in this franchise. Students are STILL singing that song on the last day of school before summer break
Definitely one of the best sequels that’s better than the original along with The Godfather Part II, The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Spider-Man 2, Shrek 2, The Dark Knight and Paddington 2.
I unapologetically love High School Musical because they’re just great movies and had no right being that entertaining. The second one definitely has a lot of good songs. Great reaction guys! You’ll definitely love the 3rd film next.
Troy : *Went to a golf course and have a mental breakdown* Chad : *Gets married in a baseball field with Ryan having a clean white shirt throughout the entire song* 😂😂😂
With Gabriella… the whole point is that she wanted to relax during this summer. She literally said she’s been moving for years and never gets to enjoy down time. Also, I kinda agree that it would be hard not be jealous and react to Troy’s behavior, but that’s part of the “academic” ness of Gabriella. She understands why he is spending time with sharpay and how much these experiences can help troy so she’s trying to be patient. She says it herself… the romantic relationship will work or it won’t, but Gabriella gets mad when sharpays antics hurt her personally and her friends. Maybe too logical for a high schooler, but I get what they were going for.
I love how these Actor are all still close to this day. Vanessa and Ashley are BBF. When ever Corbin has had a new show on Broadway Zac and Lucas always show up and always together.
Lovee that Tara realize the intense flirty vibe that Chad and Ryan have like we were all thinking the same and the song is literally a gay metaphor and they even switched clothes
When this came out, my then 3 year old daughter was obsessed with Troy's solo song. She knew all the words and would imitate his performance. It was hilarious.
OMG YAAAASSSSSSS!!! We are continuing the HSM movies! Y’all are already making my Monday! I was looking to see if someone had commented about this! I loved their reaction to it, especially Greg saying Ryan had lost his mind. I don't remember when I first saw that scene, but it was definitely years later for me. I still remember the words though!
idk why greg is so surprised by disney channel lol their stuff is ALWAYS well produced, they always get talented kids who can sing and dance for their projects lol its disney this is their thing 💀 also fun fact miley’s appearance was fan voted !!

When you started talking about how smart she was shown in the first movie I thought you were gonna say her being smart was the reason she was so mature about the whole thing lol. I actually never thought of her being less in the spotlight in this one. Around when the third movie first was coming to Disney Channel -It was played in theatres first then came to Disney Channel probably two years later - They played all the movies to lead up to it so I was a bit older rewatching this (maybe 11) and the scene where Gabriella sang 'Gotta Go My Own Way' made me cry. I really felt everything with her. Like it moved me so it did not feel like she was lacking in any significant way since that scene got the biggest emotional response out of me. Like that was literally the first time I can recall crying over a movie. But you're sort of right in that she was less present in this one.

@@justlive2809 in that case i'd say it was probably more than just respect then 😏😋
When my wife showed me that scene I told her "I think the film's trying to say they're both switch hitters."
@@jongon0848 trading uniforms after a game is very common
They’re going to get blown away by High School Musical 3. I can’t wait for Greg to cry.
literally same lol greg is definitely gonna cry
Sharpay became 1 of my favorite Disney villains in this movie. The way she managed to isolate Troy, and separate him from Gabriella was pure evil.
Yesssss
!!!!!!!!!!!!
That performance of the 2009 Oscars was SO ICONIC
That performance of the 2009 Oscars, was SO ICONIC
"We didn't vote you captain because of your jump shots. We did it because usually you're the guy who knows what's up." One of my favourite quotes from this movie.
I’m watching the reaction at the same time as browsing the comments, and when I read your comment they literally said it in the video at the same time. 😂
Notice how Ryan and Chad switch outfits after the game aswell
Yessssss
no.. they didn't .. they're also the only people who like the first movie more than the second one
"Hey batter batter, hey batter batter, Swing!' 🎶
“I got to just do my thang”
That's my jam
But you gotta remember! He DOESNT dance!
if y'all like I Don't Dance, i recommend the song Swing by Play-N-Skillz, Monsta X, Lil Jon, Bun B, and Symba. same fun vibes, except it's actually straight up about baseball since it was made for the WBC lol
Kelsy is 100% straight lol. And if you think otherwise you have a projection problem.
Sharpay’s “I Want Fabulous” song is one of my favorites it’s so catchy. She’s a fun antagonist.
Thanks for calling her an antagonist instead of a villain like so many others do lmao
Ashley Tisdale seems like a great person, and like they said when casting Rachel McAdams as Regina George, "only nice girls can play mean girls."
I know the creator of Phineas and Ferb, Dan Povenmire absolutely loves her and says she's a joy to work with.
@@matthewperrine2071 It's quite amusing that some people were surprised that Candace was voiced by Ashley. I mean, when Candace screams, you still didn't think that Ashley is the voice actor?? 😂
@@800Ms-k6n all I see in my head when she's on screen is Candace lmao. I really love Ashley she's honestly so great
Okay, I'm here to explain at least one rule.
Do you know he also did hocus pocus and the descendants which is basically gen z’s high school musical. He’s a legend for real across all ages lol
It's so funny because if you pay attention you could tell that Vanessa Hudgens clearly can't swim. During the credits you can tell that she was struggling to float in the pool. And you can so obviously tell that it was a stunt double that did the dive at the beginning
The opening number of HSM 3 is spectacular, you're going to love it
Ashley Tisdale is probably one of the nicest out of the cast in real life.
I remember getting so excited for that part eveytime I rewatched, it felt like my worlds were colliding 😭
Fun fact about Miley being at the end: We actually had to vote on which Disney celebrity to be in the movie and of course Miley won.
Lmaoo 😂
I was one of the people who voted for a Miley Cyrus cameo in the end of HSM2 simply because she was the only actor that I knew in Disney Channel outside HSM 😂
And from what I heard, it was easy for Miley to visit the set for a cameo shoot because the filming place for HSM2 wasn't too far from her Hannah Montana set
i think he filmed this and hairspray back to back so he was on his singing game this time around. bet on it was A Moment in pop culture history!
also they did film these movies in new mexico, you can even visit the high school and i'm pretty sure they kept that pink locker for a long time (idk if they still have it). and there's a disney+ series called high school musical: the musical: the series that's a fictional mockumentary style show about the real high school that they filmed it at lol it's a mess of an explanation but it gave us olivia rodrigo so i'm grateful for it!
poor vanessa hudgens trying not to drown there in the end always kills me lmao
Gotta give major props to Zac. His singing and dancing leveled up so much! He had to have put in some crazy work to get better
I can't believe y'all are reacting to my favorite franchise as a kid. Used to watch this with my mom before she passed, it was our little thing. Thank you for this.
“I wish Ryan and Chad would fall in love, look at how much they’re bonding!”
Ma’am, they’re wearing each others’ clothes, something is already going on 😂
you realize trading uniforms after a game is super common, doesnt mean anything
@@mastixencounter You realise this was a joke about fictional characters in a movie?
Projection at its finest.
@@DragonForceAnimeReviews lol stay mad

We got the nipple chills on ‘I Don’t Dance’! Yes!!! Arguably the best song in the film. The choreography, the jazz, the setting, everything! And they even sound like Michael Jackson a little!
I don't throw this term around lightly, but What Time Is It is definitely one of the most iconic songs in this franchise. Students are STILL singing that song on the last day of school before summer break
Arguably the best of the trilogy
no way thats hsm3
Agreed. But they are all great.
Definitely one of the best sequels that’s better than the original along with The Godfather Part II, The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Spider-Man 2, Shrek 2, The Dark Knight and Paddington 2.
@@shayasimshsm3 cannot replicate the masterpiece that is hsm2.
HSM3 to me is the best
I love Chad and Ryan swapping clothes with no explicit explanation
The musical numbers in the third one............ You're not ready, you're not ready
Here for the "IS THAT MILEY CYRUS??" lol
I unapologetically love High School Musical because they’re just great movies and had no right being that entertaining. The second one definitely has a lot of good songs. Great reaction guys! You’ll definitely love the 3rd film next.
Ashley Tisdale and Zac Efron were actually best friends during these movies
That final shot is funny because apparently Vanessa couldn’t swim and you could literally see on her face that she was like drowning 😭
Greg said “great dive” totally not noticing it was a big man doing the stunt😂😂😂
hm that was a women
It was definitely and noticeable that was not Vanessa 😂 but it was not a man. 😅
Troy : *Went to a golf course and have a mental breakdown*
Chad : *Gets married in a baseball field with Ryan having a clean white shirt throughout the entire song*
😂😂😂
They dont keep up with each other these days tho Ashley been saying that for awhile and both of them are pregnant
I didn’t know they weren’t as close anymore til all the talk of Ashley not being at Vanessa’s wedding.
I Don't Dance is actually such a bop
real
Do you like this more than the first?!
Yes this is my favorite one outta of the franchise.
Definitely.
Yes, but the third is my favorite.
The third is the best. I would say best songs and HSM3 TBAB part is my favourite. Can't wait for that reaction
@@southeastasiandude disagree, most people I talk to say the second is their favorite and I think it’s possibly the best dcom of all time.
Lovee that Tara realize the intense flirty vibe that Chad and Ryan have like we were all thinking the same and the song is literally a gay metaphor and they even switched clothes
Apparently, Kenny Ortega Originally wanted them to be lovers but Disney Rejected it
When this came out, my then 3 year old daughter was obsessed with Troy's solo song. She knew all the words and would imitate his performance. It was hilarious.
Thats so cute😍😍
This movie is why I sang what time is it at the beginning of every summer growing up 😂 this movie is my favorite out of the 3
the way she instantly got the gay vibes from chad and ryan…… so real
OMG YAAAASSSSSSS!!! We are continuing the HSM movies! Y’all are already making my Monday!
Fun fact, "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a song was actually a deleted song during it’s original run on the Disney Channel & remembering being as part of the DVD release bonus features 😆😅 but it looks like they added the song in the Disney+ release? 😙 either way … wild song lmao.
I was looking to see if someone had commented about this! I loved their reaction to it, especially Greg saying Ryan had lost his mind. I don't remember when I first saw that scene, but it was definitely years later for me. I still remember the words though!
i will nEVER forget growing up and learning the All For One dance choreography that they would teach at commercial breaks in-between the movie
One of the few movie musical soundtracks that I can sing every song perfectly from memory! Thats how ingrained it was in my childhood
This was filmed in Southern Utah, and my boss loves to share how he helped teach the crew how to play baseball for the baseball scene. 🤣
5:32 Greg experiencing pure joy
idk why greg is so surprised by disney channel lol their stuff is ALWAYS well produced, they always get talented kids who can sing and dance for their projects lol its disney this is their thing 💀 also fun fact miley’s appearance was fan voted !!
Tell me how in the world that Chad and Ryan had more chemistry in one entire musical sequence for about 4 minutes than Troy and Gabriella in the entire trilogy 😂😂
Troy and Gabriela definitely had chemistry especially 2nd and 3rd one because of them dating in real life
Nah the chemistry was crazy in hsm 3. their hand holding was next level
Come on Troy and Gabriella have chemistry, but Chad and Ryan did have better chemistry than Chad and Taylor
Ur joking right? Zac and Vanessa have SO much chemistry. Especially in the 3rd movie
how can troy and gabriela not have chemistry when they have real life chemistry as zac and vanessa????
I Don't Dance the baseball song is my favorite of the 1st 2 movies.💙
I didn't even get to see the 3rd one since it came out in theaters as you mentioned.
It has been theorized chads and Ryan’s duet is not about dancing 👀 Ryan is comfortable with his “dancing” while Chad is not
The fact that I still know ALL the choreo to this movie is insanee, that say a lot 😭 this movie is so good
I was like 7 when the first one came out. And a group of boys in my class did the basketball choreography for the talent show 😂
Nice lol
53:23 There's a deleted scene that shows Taylor convincing Gabriella to go back and she gives her the necklace then
am i the only one who cried while watching this with yall, just from nostalgia even the 1st one got me emotional. also my fav is the 3rd one and im gonna cry again especially at the end iykyk.
So excited to see Greg and Tara react to this movie! The "Bet On It" Music Number is my favorite from this movie 👍
Yall gonna loooove the songs from the 3rd movie
0:09 I’m shook. HIT THAT NOTE QUEEN!!!🎉🖤🔥
I don't know how many times I've watched all 3 high school musicals. My favorite one is High School Musical 2.. I love hearing zac's singing. I think the first one, Vanessa, sang with Drew Seely.
Haven’t seen this movie in what feels like forever. I would always watch this and all the other high school musical movies when I was home sick from school. These movies were and still are my comfort movie! Love the songs!! I’m actually going to be in a theatre production of hsm 2 in this summer!! Can’t wait love this franchise!! My top 3 fav songs in this is you’re the music in me, what time is it, and everyday.
I've watched this movie at least 10 times with my daughters and I never noticed that Gabriella had the necklace at the end. Good catch.
did u guys not notice that chad and ryan switched clothes 38:43
Oh my gosh
I watched these movies so much when they came out, my niece was a big fan. They were on repeat. But I gotta admit, this movie was always my favorite.
I can't wait for the third one since now it feels like an ensemble, since we actually care what could happens for all these characters
26:43 that has to be one of the most beautiful shots in that movie Gabriella chilling on top of the pool waiting for Troy with that beautiful night sky and those little lights behind her
so excited for you guys to react to hsm3 its my all time favorite! I wanna thank yall for giving the hsm trilogy an unbiased review, I'm glad you guys are enjoying it and giving it a fair shot!
Bet On It is such a banger 🔥 My fave HSM song
Interesting to note: Not only was this the sequel where Zac Efron was finally able to sing the songs all on his own, but when he did. At the same time, Michael Jackson and his daughter Paris were visiting the set of HSM2 to discuss with director Kenny Ortega of plans for him to direct his then-upcoming concert “This Is It.” Paris happened to be a fan of HSM as well too.
I love Bet on it and I can’t dance in this movie! Zach Efron just frolicking in the golf course had me gone when I watched it the first time. Can’t wait for you guys to watch the third film, the songs go hard!
Ryan and Chad's I Dont Dance is definitely their confessions of love for each other.. and they switch clothes afterwards to really prove it
Alright I’m 24 and all I can say is THANK YOU soooo much high school musical 2 was my peak when it first came out when I was 7 years old and remembered every song top to bottom 😊❤
"Bet on it" is such an iconic number 😂👌🏼
I LOVE THIS. Such great numbers, the artistic side of HSM movies is so underrated.
I seriously need you to watch the rehearsals. You see how much work they put into the songs. It's unbelievable.
Not going to lie, I cried on the last high school musical !! It’s really good and it closed out my childhood era..
The premire of this movie was crazy for us 2000s kids, we had this, followed by the Suite Life/Raven/Hannah Montana crossover episode, AND the first episode of Phineas and Ferb. Legendary moment in kids TV
2000s was the prime time for Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network. Truly the best time to watch TV for a kid.
You guys make me so happy with how excited you are by these movies 😂😂😂😂 so excited for you to see 3 get that CINEMA BUDGET
