Its very important to keep the proper levels. The salt isn't just the source of Cl, but also contains all the ions needed for electricity to pass through water. It controls the resistance in the circuit. And we all know through ohms law, that current is directly related resistance.

Hello I have Intex 32x16x52 can you tell me how many 40lbs bags to add where can I find what products to start with as we just put up the pool?

I have a question, During the morning the pool pump starts as is circulating the water perfectly and the water is dropping the water from the spa to the pool but after a few hours that water circulation slows almost to a stop and the pressure of the filters goes up. I then shut it off and open the filter gauge hole and release vacuum and turn on and then again the water circulation is working but after hours is slows to a stop again… any idea ?

Why leave the salt system off for 24hrs after adding salt? Is this only applied for heavy dosage of salt? Any videos explaining that?
    Thank you for your videos!
I’m just now getting into pool cleaning.

Yes, this is for heavy dosage or start up salt. The SWG won't work until the salt levels reach a certain threshold, so that's why you wait for everything to dissolve but keep the pump and filter running.

The disassociated ions from the salt (Na+ CL-) aid in the transfer of electricity through water. Pools are normally cold, and NaCl dissolves much slower (as does cyanuric acid) in cold water. Time is needed for the salt to fully dissolve into the solution. If you don't wait for the solution to balance out, you may have an excess of ions passing by the cell, creating a low resistance, and a high current condition. Not good for the cell, although they do a decent job protecting themselves. On the other hand, too little and you don't get any current to pass. If you have a hot tub as part of the pool, this is the perfect place to dissolve all your chemicals. If not, just be patient. Salt cells do not have the ability to directly measure salt. They simply have a known curve of a salt to current ratio. It knowns how much current its using, and in a 3200ppm solution that means x amount of salt. If the solution is off, so will its readings and power output.

Hi, shouldnt your salt ppm be acording to your chlorinator and not a set 3200ppm cos then you over working yiur chlorinator to get chlorine

You should use 3200ppm. Its important to keep that level, as it dictates how much current passes from the anode to the cathode. The salt cell is calculating it based on a known current draw at that level, but as it wears it drifts. This is in no way coupled to the actual salt level needed. You should always test with a good test kit. If your cell is close to the real reading, then its in good shape. If it reads different, its getting old, and will simply be wrong. Its no different than any other electrolysis. The plates are going to wear as they give or take electrons. They are consumable. Either way, a true 3200ppm creates the proper resistance needed for this electrolysis.

To answer your question you would need to know how many gallons of water your pool holds.

Make sure to take care of it because a salt generator replacement generally costs about 3k-4k.
