@@fonso003 editing mistake with the battery drain test. Battery % of Go jumped from 3% to 47%(video) while the timer keeps running, giving it extra 1.5 hours.

Subscribed to your channel right away! Also like your chilled voice and background music. It is a good contrast to the ever so "quick and exhausting world", if you understand what I mean.
Interesting comparison. I am wondering if some of the power settings on the Lenovo were not working properly? According to a quick look the ally has 40Whr battery, and the LGo has 49Whr. With the same basic hardware inside, how could the LGo lasts almost 3x as long with a 25% larger battery? I am wondering if some settings didn't stick, which led to increased battery life, and perhaps slower loading times? Just an hypothesis though. Nice testing btw!
Probably different tdp. There's no way in hell that the llgo will archive 3 hours on baldurs gates lol unless he put a quiet mode 10w something like that.
There's more to the battery than just mah. First, TDPs aren't equivalent. So just because they say they're using the same TDP they may not. Second is components, screen power usage can vary incredibly wildly. Comparing two completely different panels just based on brightness, color levels, ect has nothing to do with power consumption. It's only comparable when you're increasing brightness in the same panel. Also battery composition can be different. That's why the new OLED Stream Deck gets double the battery life while only increasing mah capacity by 20%. So just because they use the same CPU/GPU doesn't mean they are the "same".
The Legion Go startup time varies - and frankly sometimes the Legion Space app doesn't even boot up (which is good). The Go battery life in real world for me has been about 10-15 minutes more than the Ally. I run the ally in a custom TDP 18w manual mode. And the Go was in its "performance" mode. Playing Diablo 4 at 720 on the ally 800 on the Go, I got 1h 23 minutes on the Ally. On the Go, I got 1h 37 minutes. If I run in "turbo" mode on the Ally, I get a bit over 65 minutes. The Go for me is the better handheld for a few reasons. 1) Battery is a smidge better, 2) the sticks are tighter and are hall effect, so less likely for drift, 3) the screen. It blows away the Ally and the Steam Deck. I'm hoping for some firmware updates and optimization on the Go, because for this processor, this device is the way to go. I am planning on upgrading my SSD to a 2TB in the Go, as I did with the Ally.
Isn't performance like 25w? Balance is 15w and would make it a lot more comparable. If you did that it would be like 2 and a half for the Go Go and 1:30 for the Ally.
Sure but the go speakers will always suck it'll never have VRR or LFC and the button layout won't change the right stick will always be too close the the buttons 😂
Thank you for this video man! youve covered alot of what other chanels didnt cover! Im a little surprised at the loading times of legion go being a little slower considering the ram is faster. But the ingame loading from area to area makes sense because this utilizes the faster ram . Thanks for that battery test, gives me a better idea of what i can expect. The legions battery is bigger and why it took longer to charge maybe the longer battery life of the legion is because it doesnt have vrr like the asus does and looks like it can affect some if not most games, thats really interesting. Cant wait to try this out myself as i have an ally that ive been enjoying since release. My only concern is its weight a size as I will be travelling alot with it and playing it lying down lol! and if not having vrr will hesvily affect games that dip down to 30 fps, as the ally still makes 30fps games look smooth
If you travel and don’t play it at home ALL the time, get the ROG ally. But then again, even though the legion go is huge, it is still very possible to travel with and you will get used to it

*gets seizures* nice vid though. I wonder why the Legion is soo slow compared to the Ally, both have the same CPU, is it strictly because software or does the Ally have a better SSD?
Because the Ally has been out much longer so it’s had software updates. Can’t expect the Legion Go to be better in the first months of it being released
It is because Lenovo went with a display and screen size that is pushing the Z1 Extreme APU harder than it should. They tried to go with faster LPDDR5 Ram to make up the difference. The problem is that it is still the Z1 Extreme APU clocked the same speed as the ROG Ally with the same GPU and CPU cores. No amount of software/firmware updates are going to make it run games at decent frame rates on its 2580x1600 8.8 16-10 screen better than the Ally on the 7 inch 1080p screen. That is just what it is. If Lenovo went with 1080p then it would have been the better choice. Only option for the go to run current tripple a games decently without the help of VRR and LFRC is to play at 800p and lock frame rates that help with the screens refresh rate to prevent screen tearing on games that frame rates spike and dip considerably. I think Asus got most of it right with the Ally with exception of the SD card placement and slower ram speed but everything else is amazing and I can play current tripple aaa games and not worry about frames as VRR does an amazing job with more demanding games

Yes!!!! ROG ally was at 70fps, legion go was at 50 fps. Once optimization kicks in, you’re gonna have an absolute blast on the Legion go. I actually dock it, and use my mouse and keyboard.
Tbh at first I liked the legion go more but after the fan noise test I’ve just realized how brilliant and quiet ally’s cooling is. I really care about the fan noise so this test decides which one is better for me.
First: no need to write two useless comments 💀 Second: once I am searching for a good mobile device I want to get a quiet, light, good looking and a powerful device. I believe that a quiet device is a good device. If I were to buy a mobile device I would really care about it being quiet and the highest quality possible which ROG can provide with ease.

I really don’t if I have to mention the battery start draining when you turn on the game …
I really wanted the Legion Go to destroy the Ally. And while it still seems like a great device, the decision to go with a portrait screen really cripples it for me. That and the weak speakers.
@@PeteOlivaIt can for game display settings. The Deck has a layer to correct it for games with issues and Valve are constantly adding them. Will Lenovo do the same?
@@rushmore3927 I hope so. This is honestly one of the main things that I hear a lot of people talking about that is making me apprehensive about taking the plunge.
@@PeteOliva Because scaling is all messed up. For example, Red Dead Redemption is unplayable with Vulkan on a portrait screen. The ROG Ally runs it perfectly.
First off, Legion has 3 batteries to charge. Both sticks and the main. As far as batteries draining, we didn’t see any live data, or if the two decks were running equally optimized. So yeah, not a fair similarity at all. They also share the same chipset. So…
holy god bro my eyes 😅 dont do that anymore with the lights btw amazing video but i think at the end the differences are not that big only thing what matters is the size of the device and the display itself and of course battery its like an iphone pro and pro max . . .😅

I’m sorry but when you say “but when the screen turns on, it doesn’t matter” Yes, it actually does matter. This is why these companies put “bigger” everything on products. Because it lures people in like this. The Ally beats the Legion in most categories. Because the Ally has been out much longer so it’s had software updates. Can’t expect the Legion Go to be better in the first months of it being released
I believe it is software
Im gonna get an asus rog ally for now. But i really want a laptop to play Starfield at 60 fps
Did you update the ssd in the ROG. That my effect the bootup time
Everything stick

Love your shirt haha!
Thanks! 😁
No way in hell the difference between battery life with same tdps and wattage somwthing weird here.
I love the Ally it's amazing it just dies too fast
Bud, I swear I’m not trolling you but your legion go is way slower with start up on both the boot and legion space, then mine.
I don’t know what’s up with your, I do have my vram up to 4g though.
Dang. I just changed the v ram
@@CyberDopamine be carful though, when I did change it and played a graphics intensive game, the charging stopped working and I had to turn it back to 3g.
I bought a 100wt charger and now it works on 4g. I think they may need to update the firmware to help support 4g with the 65 wt charger.
@@CyberDopamine games run sooo much more smoother then the rog at 4g but the battery thing is concerning
I’ve changed it now. Luckily no battery issues yet!
Man those Battery tests make me dont want to get the ally 😂
Omg legion go last longs! Does it much difference between rog ally x and legión go battery
Here before 100k. Great content!
Haha heck yeah
nice comparison, thanks!
big big thanks for doing this...i m thinking for both devices and i dont know which one better
I just wanted to say you Jewelry looks good on you Hands
Oh heck yeah my family are jewelers!
Which one is better for gaming legion go or rog ally
Legion bro
Ally bro
The new software update for the lenovo is out on the 10th. So you gonna see the difference after that?
Yeah for sure. Probably on my shorts page
peu etre non ?
So should I keep my legion go or trade it in for an ally?
Keep the go!!!
@@CyberDopamine could you make a video of the controllers you can use with the go? Like compatibility
Did you get a chance to test The Finals whist the beta was running?
Yes!!!! ROG ally was at 70fps, legion go was at 50 fps. Once optimization kicks in, you’re gonna have an absolute blast on the Legion go. I actually dock it, and use my mouse and keyboard.
Incredible! What accessory do you use to dock it? And out of interest, what mouse and keyboard do you use? Thanks man 👍
Tbh at first I liked the legion go more but after the fan noise test I’ve just realized how brilliant and quiet ally’s cooling is. I really care about the fan noise so this test decides which one is better for me.
Coward 🫵
Ally runs at 80-90 Celsius legion go is 70-80 at the same wattage.. I’d rather have a loud than a overheating device
Rog ally is probably quiet cause it’s busy frying the sd card
First: no need to write two useless comments 💀
Second: once I am searching for a good mobile device I want to get a quiet, light, good looking and a powerful device. I believe that a quiet device is a good device. If I were to buy a mobile device I would really care about it being quiet and the highest quality possible which ROG can provide with ease.
Great video! I subscribed.
Thank you so much!!!
That battery life alone makes me want to buy one
The Lenovo go is definitely an amazing device when plugged it got more add to the fps… I have been playing returnal since it amazing you got some drop but overall it good. They have to look at god of war 2019 it’s not really pleasant. I totally forgot the size of the device when I got immersed in the game in fact I love it. I really don’t if I have to mention the battery start draining when you turn on the game …
at 10:00min... thank you i'm epileptic
Hahaha
I really wanted the Legion Go to destroy the Ally. And while it still seems like a great device, the decision to go with a portrait screen really cripples it for me. That and the weak speakers.
What does portrait screen mean?
Why does the portrait screen matter so much?
@@PeteOlivaIt can for game display settings. The Deck has a layer to correct it for games with issues and Valve are constantly adding them. Will Lenovo do the same?
@@rushmore3927 I hope so. This is honestly one of the main things that I hear a lot of people talking about that is making me apprehensive about taking the plunge.
@@PeteOliva Because scaling is all messed up. For example, Red Dead Redemption is unplayable with Vulkan on a portrait screen. The ROG Ally runs it perfectly.
Love your videos bro
First off, Legion has 3 batteries to charge. Both sticks and the main. As far as batteries draining, we didn’t see any live data, or if the two decks were running equally optimized. So yeah, not a fair similarity at all. They also share the same chipset. So…
What is that screen tearing on Legion with BG3?
holy god bro my eyes 😅
dont do that anymore with the lights
btw amazing video
but i think at the end the differences are not that big
only thing what matters is the size of the device and the display itself and of course battery
its like an iphone pro and pro max . . .😅
Exactly!
So basically rog for the win ,no surprise here holla
Love the profile pic.
What about fan noise on both devices?
Great Vid as Always Just BE CARFULL!...showing personal info by accident in future vids.
Thank you. I will be more careful next time
The ally is still better even now there was new video that the ally performance still outperforms the legion go plus it runs quieter , cooler
And its more lightweight so its use is more for a handheld than the legion go
Have they added 900p yet to the GO?
my go boots 6 sec to get to the log in. not sure why yours took forever. lol
Was that max fans? Because my Go never sounds like that.
Max fans, keep in mind the mic was directly facing the fans output so it is a bit more dramatic
I’m sorry but when you say “but when the screen turns on, it doesn’t matter” Yes, it actually does matter. This is why these companies put “bigger” everything on products. Because it lures people in like this. The Ally beats the Legion in most categories. I wanted to get the Legion and sell my Ally, but the only thing that it has going for it is the screen, and no that doesn’t make it ok. Try and be less bias next time. Be at 0 with both items and be straight forward
What ssd are these two using?
FxSound will make the the Legion go speakers way better.
What is that? Just a program that can eq?
It won’t actually, though. Mediocre hardware is still mediocre hardware.
@@Splackavellie85 do you have the device? Because I have it. I know it won’t be better than the Rog device regardless, but it sounds better than out of the box.
@@CyberDopamine yes
I believe some chinese company will make a mini keyboard for the legion
This a cool video like to as could the run a usb DVD drive or USB blue-ray drive ?
I wonder why Lenovo didn’t round the corner of the touchpad like Steam Deck. It looks odd and out of the place imho 😂
Thanks if I buy I will choice Legion go
