I remember watching the Val De La O show religiously while living in "El Burque" in the 1960s and later in the 1980s. I am a New Mexico native who grew up in Santa Rosa. I attended many concerts by Al Hurricane and family during those times. The guitar player behind Al on this video I believe is my nephew Joe Chavez who later in 1980 formed a band in El Burque called "Los Chavos".
my dad loved this song by al hurricane. he use to say he was the champion on guitar playing. Everytime I hear this song I get emotional cause my dad passed away 5 years ago he was a AL hurricane fan. in fact our whole family are. thank you Al for the awsome music and memories
I was sadenned to hear of Al Hurricane's passing I grew up listening to his music from my mom and my uncles and cousins. He was a legend and will always be The Godfather of New Mexico music R.I.P. Mr Hurricane..
everybody keep in mind the almost all TV live performances other than concerts are lip sync we just have better technology now so that nobody notices and you got to realize to put an old video like this on you tube the audio probably wasn't the best for recording on that stage so you would have to use the recorded version that is done in a studio. As far as the rest Que Viva El Godfather!!!!!!!
Al Hurricane was a favorite of mine the 70s. He'd come up to Colorado to do dances and we'd dance with our favorite girls all night long. He came up to the Broadmoor in the summer of 1979 and did a kick ass show and dance. That's the last time I heard him live, a few months later I went into the Air Force.
I remember hearing this song on a Spanish radio station that came in from ABQ. In Durango Colo. on College Ave. Circa early 1980s! The darker it got the better the station came in. Respect to the gente that is still able to make it in Dgo! m.r.Maez
omg i love this band. i was friends with Michael "Mik" Sanchez wow this song brings back so many memories for me when i worked at Tumbleweed Restaurant 1995/96!!! I miss those days..If anyone knows how to get hold of Mik let me know :D
I know al is a nm music band. I respect that but I would like to see his band do a tejano song. One that's different than he's done. He's got an awesome accordion/ keyboard player!! I know him personally. Al you should try it!?
