@@ABCboy5 The majority seems to prefer the HD600. I guess this is where personal preference comes in and the fact that peoples ears are phyically different should also not be ignored. To me the HD600 is dead on in the midrange but lacks a bit of treble and the bass rolloff is against my preference which is a well extended bass response even a slight boost maybe instead of a rolloff. Thats why I use EQ a lot too. No headphone is perfect. They tune them to whatever frequency response sells the best. I think my next upgrade will be the Hifiman Edition XS: Supposedly very neutral and balanced best value under 1000$ open back planar.
@@alouisschafer7212 I've owned the 600/650 and currently own the 660S and 58X. I consider the 660S to be at the top, with the 58X being the best value and most 'fun'. I have an Ananda here also and they are very good except they could use a slight mid boost and reduced treble, otherwise they destroy the 6x series in all technical regards. I also have a Focal Clear which I consider to be the most well rounded and overall best headphone I've heard. Also just sold my HD800's. Still really like the tonality of the 660S though even though it lacks in the low-end. Voices are just so smooth on them, even over the HD600 IMO. If you want a successor to the 6x series though, it's gotta be the Focal Clear.
I'm new to the audiophile world but I want to share some of my thoughts. Of course everyone is free to disagree and so on. And my vocabulary and sound analysis might not be up to par so please excuse me for any misunderstandings or confusion. I also understand that one video won't provide everything I need but this really does help. As I am looking to buy one of the HD600 series headphones, HD800 series or any of the higher #'d Sennheisers. My current setup is: Sennheiser HD560S (no EQ) + FiiO E10K (with H gain and bass boost on) Song 1: HD600: It feels so natural, not muffled at all. Feels refreshing. I can hear the instruments loud and clear. Treble feels high enough. I get that feeling of "I want the 600s" HD650: The smaller sound stage seems to be a bit too intimate for my liking. But I can definitely see why people describe it as warm. It feels like there are some thin clouds that surround the stage. Treble seems to be a bit more tone down hence the warm feeling I guess. HD660S: I originally thought of getting the 660s, the sound stage seems a bit wider then the 650 but less than the 600. Treble feels a bit higher then the 650s also. Less warmer for sure than the 650s but less brighter then the 600. Makes me feel "Hmmm...the 600s might be better." HD700: *shakes head* Hold on did things just become smaller? The music also seems to be a bit more muffled. I don't know how I feel about the HD700 to be honest. Detail seems okay but not as good. HD800: Holy that sound stage. I don't think my 560S can do it full justice here but good lord. Its like I just got dropped into a large hall and yet the sound is quite clear. HD800S: Like the HD800 but with what I feel is a very slight muffle. HD820: I don't know how I feel about this one. Its like you took the 800 and just muffled relatively hard. The instruments don't sound as nice as the HD600. And rest of it I still feel more or less the same. I will also say I am in the camp of the HD600 or HD800/HD800S. With maybe the 660S still in there. What do you all recommend? Most of my current music is mostly instrumentals, video game music (like League of Legends music), KPop (2nd gen like SNSD, and etc), and anime music (openings, endings, etc). And I play video games (hardly FPS, I'm pure trash at that). I like Bass, and would prefer some but don't need too much.

if it's the HD600 series you are interested in then i would recommend the HD600 the most, however it's a little power hungry but i guess you already knew that. I've had the HD660S and i think that the sound is slightly veiled due to the recessed upper mids but it is very easy on the ears though.
Very interesting. To me the HD600 and HD660, sound the most neutral and therefore the best. The 650 sound a bit too dark, lacking a little in the upper frequencies, but otherwise ok. Then when the switch is made to the HD700 it sounds very colored in the low mids, while also having some peaks in the highs. It doesn't sound good to me. The HD800 and HD800S sound a bit more neutral again, but less so than the HD600 / HD660. The HD820 is again rather colored sounding. I'm listening to this on my HD560s.
@@MarkoVlasicAudio I have to be honest, the HD 600 sound the best to me. I immediately notice how both the 650 and 660S sound darker and , imo, a bit veiled/muffled. Neither of the 800 models sound better imo, and the 700 is just weird, sounds kinda dull/metallic. The 600 is still the benchmark imo.
I used to use the Sennheiser HD-600s for recording/editing and a few years back purchased a pair of HD-590s off of eBay and I must say they performed extremely well side by side the HD-600s. I still feel that they would have done well in this interesting line up in spite of the newer arrivals.
I bought the HD-590 about 25 years ago, I still have them. I had read it was mostly similar to the HD-600 but better sensitivity with some small compromise of purity of timbre, resolution and refinement. I was using them with a Sony discman back in the day, I believe it would have struggled with the HD-600, not to mention the HD-590 was half the price. I generally like the 590 but they can sound a little less than natural, a little too metallic in the treble. Just a guess but I imagine the high frequency response isn't as smooth as the 600.
Interesting to see (and hear) that Sennheiser's most expensive pair of cans are the least popular. I have to agree, along with the Hd700, they were my least favourite. I sold my Hd700 last week in favour for the 660s. My hearing has thanked me everyday since. Amazing comparison, effort and sound reproduction by the way. Thank you. Subscribed.
They are very good and better than cheaper models but they are priced insanely high that is why people react relatively negative about. If they were priced around 1k mark then it would be completely different story but they are not :)
The HD600 demonstrates its neutral tuning with its crystal clear and balanced sound. The HD660S is not for everybody because Sennheiser decided to tune the upper mids down. The HD650 demonstrated here seems to have the typical "veil" (recessed mids) some Versions of the HD650 are plagued with. Apparently no HD650 is like the other since Sennhesier responded to the complaints with silent revisions. An early 650 will be different from a new version which has a proper neutral frequency response and should sound much closer to the HD600. Graphs dont lie people, when there is a dip in a certain region that dip is 100% audible. So yeah the HD600 is still Sennheiser's masterpiece. The HD650 is on the 2nd place because it needs a bit of EQ and its more expensive than the HD600: 311€ (343$) vs. 349€ (385$). Also the stock cable of the HD600 is better. You could also buy a HD6XX from Drop for only 240$ plus shipping and customs. Drop is stupid and only ships from within the US so it takes forever and be careful with the rates and the customs in your country. Id rather get a real HD600. Unreal how much nonsense hype people stir up around the HD800 series headphones. They are hilariously expensive and sound so weird.
Just returned a pair of hd660s because they don't hold a candle against the hd580 precision i have. Not only they sound muddy, but also i don't hear any improvement in the bass or treble area, they even have less bass punch. Sad because i really liked the new design
@@omniscient4510 Sennheiser needs to step up their game before other manufacturers like Hifiman take over. I feel like all the HD600 series headphones that followed the OG HD600 are pointless except for the HD6XX because it is super cheap for customers in the US. Of course the HD560s exists and its pretty good but man they really have to come up with something new and better for their "mid-fi" lineup.
That 700 is an interesting beast. I didn't care for what it did to the Arena, sucked the warmth out and left it tinny and hollow sounding. On second song it it sucked a bit of warmth out of it but the fidelity in the high hat really came to life, the guitar were a bit too bright sounding in my opinion. No real opinion on the percussion track . The Vivaldi though, wow, lost a hint of warmth but the violins came to life like a blanket had been lifted off them, sounded amazing. Defiantly a niche headphone, I would guess it's not great for rock, pop, folk , r&B, but might be amazing on bowed string instruments. I would like to hear more comparisons with it just because it's so unique. 600/650 very similar sounding though my speakers warm friendly unoffensive. 660 similar to the other 600's but with a dash more treble and a higher level of fidelity high end. The 700 hollow, tinny, but with fantastic detail in the bright percussion instruments. Keeps the high end fidelity of the 700 and fixes the weird tinny problem. 800s very close to the 800 on my home rig. 820 another odd duck as it sounded bit less detailed than the other 800,like a slightly blanketed 800. I wish I could hear them all in real life, cool vid, I was surprised how much of a difference I could hear considering everything is being colored by the microphone, compressed through youtube and recolored through my speakers and headphones.
The HD700 can sound really amazing on some tracks, close to HD800. But really awful on other tracks. You just have to find those tracks that doesn't accentuate where they are already boosted.

Dos mais antigos, percebi que o HD 660S teve uma evolução sobre o HD 650 e HD 600, embora ainda fique atrás do HD 700. Eu já tive todos tirando o 660 e o 820, atualmente tenho apenas o HD 800S, e esse áudio capturou bem a essência de cada fone, me fez lembrar nitidamente como eles soavam de verdade na minha cabeça, e me deu saudades da época que experimentei eles, principalmente a emoção que tive quando fiquei impressionado com a superioridade técnica do HD 700 sobre os mais antigos, e quando experimentei o 800, fiquei mais impressionado ainda... Bons tempos.
HD820 sounds worse than the others without a doubt but then it's a closed back design though, i preferred the 600 series with the HD600 being the best. I did notice that the original HD800 sounds a lot more open than the new 800S version. HD650 was not as clear as the HD600 in the upper regions but still sounded nice, in this sound demo i find the HD600 to be the best and also i understand why it's considered to be neutral. Worst are the 700 and 820
Han used the same clips as those for focal testing. Personally I prefer focal sound signature. However, I prefer the fit of Senheiser cans. Very useful. I recently bought a pair of Elegia for c400 USD with stands after listening these clips. Thanks Han.
Best Best to let each listener to objectively pick their best audio. For me the too 3 are the HD 800S HD 600 and the HD650. I have the HD 600 and is the best balance for money that you can get.
Hello everyone. Really interesting demo. I listened to this video very carefully with my modified Sennheiser HD 580 that sound almost like the HD 600. The 820 is unattainable while 650 and 660 I think sound worse than the 600 (sound less natural and less airy/bright) although perhaps the 660 is close to the 600. The 800 sound good but perhaps too neutral and ethereal while the 800s are less bright and slightly "intubated". If I had to choose a headphone today, I would be undecided between HD 600 and HD 800. If I consider the quality/price ratio, I would definitely still choose the HD 600. HD 600 and H580, I think I can say that despite being a project of 20 years ago, they remain a great reference. A record not even broken by Sennheiser. (Like 575) Very good video!!!
TH-cam ne peut pas rendre totalement justisce au HD600 et HD650. J'ai entendus ces deux casques en magasin au même moment il y a très longtemps . HD600 = richesse sonore , aération , ambiance acoustique , transparence . HD650 = écoute plus charpenté , timbre très réaliste. Pour moi il faut acheter les deux casques.
Yesterday, I came upon a channel that had the same kind of test and yet, listening in the same HPs (HD400 Pro) things sound different. Very interesting. Still, this is such a useful and only logical and practical way to give audio samples comparing headphones. This makes verbal commentary moot.

Ну и то как закрытость наушников влияет на бас на 800 серии видно чётко, что самые низкие частоты бьют по ушам заглушая другие частоты и басхеды этот эффект любят

HD700+ went for a very difference direction, which shows at the last song, it goes for very huge sound stage which almost only good in an orchestra or similar scenario, where 700 and 800S did well for other music, 600 or 660S feel more normal and enjoyable
I agree, I have it in conjunction with the HD 650 and the real fault of the HD 700 is not really hights, but the problem is the MID Bass which has a gain of how 3.5 dB if you are free at 0 dB or 1db the Headphone gets much more clarity leaving much less than 650 and worth a lot. Greetings

In the demo the instruments and vocals feel more forward on HD 600, while on HD 650 the melody feels more forward. Is this also the difference in reality?
I actually like the hd650... so analog and smooth. The mid range and vocals has a dreamy quality to them. Hmmm, might have to get one. I wonder how close to hd6xx is to the 650's. I owned the hd600's... and they had a very very grainy mid range that was forward, harsh, and fatiguing. The hd650 is sweet sounding in comparison.

To my ears. For series6 - 650 is the most balance one even though it’s too dark for my taste, 600 is push too much in the mid and 660s is the opposite being mid recess with treble being push. However for Baroque track the 600 is the most impressive one as it’s sounds very clean and airy space for acoustic and details. For series 8. What happened to 820 😞 why?? !

I have both hd600 and hd800(sn# 25xx first batch year 2009). They shine when pair with a powerful tube amp but at first you must upgrade the headphone cables

I am French. This is what Senneizer doesn't like, he modifies the sound of the same reference without signaling it. I have the 2022 HD600 and the sound is identical to the 2022 HD650 with supporting measurements. The old HD600 was better and much clearer, Senneizer screwed up the new HD600 (the low midrange is blown out and there is a -3dB dip at 2kHz)

You can see why (almost) everybody hates the HD700. Also, HD800S - the hype appears to be justified.

I used to like the HD650 over the HD600 but I think I got a broken pair of HD600 because mine sound muffled and boring. I sold the right away.

660s with a Zen DAC is amazing and not overly expensive

You could also buy a HD6XX from Drop for only 240$ plus shipping and customs. Drop is stupid and only ships from within the US so it takes forever and be careful with the rates and the customs in your country. Id rather get a real HD600.
Unreal how much nonsense hype people stir up around the HD800 series headphones. They are hilariously expensive and sound so weird.
Just returned a pair of hd660s because they don't hold a candle against the hd580 precision i have. Not only they sound muddy, but also i don't hear any improvement in the bass or treble area, they even have less bass punch. Sad because i really liked the new design

I feel like all the HD600 series headphones that followed the OG HD600 are pointless except for the HD6XX because it is super cheap for customers in the US.
Of course the HD560s exists and its pretty good but man they really have to come up with something new and better for their "mid-fi" lineup.
HD650 is a warm headphone for those with treble sensitive ears like me.I can't stand the shouty upper mids of HD600
That 700 is an interesting beast. I didn't care for what it did to the Arena, sucked the warmth out and left it tinny and hollow sounding. On second song it it sucked a bit of warmth out of it but the fidelity in the high hat really came to life, the guitar were a bit too bright sounding in my opinion. No real opinion on the percussion track . The Vivaldi though, wow, lost a hint of warmth but the violins came to life like a blanket had been lifted off them, sounded amazing. Defiantly a niche headphone, I would guess it's not great for rock, pop, folk , r&B, but might be amazing on bowed string instruments. I would like to hear more comparisons with it just because it's so unique. 600/650 very similar sounding though my speakers warm friendly unoffensive. 660 similar to the other 600's but with a dash more treble and a higher level of fidelity high end. The 700 hollow, tinny, but with fantastic detail in the bright percussion instruments. Keeps the high end fidelity of the 700 and fixes the weird tinny problem. 800s very close to the 800 on my home rig. 820 another odd duck as it sounded bit less detailed than the other 800,like a slightly blanketed 800. I wish I could hear them all in real life, cool vid, I was surprised how much of a difference I could hear considering everything is being colored by the microphone, compressed through youtube and recolored through my speakers and headphones.
The HD700 can sound really amazing on some tracks, close to HD800. But really awful on other tracks. You just have to find those tracks that doesn't accentuate where they are already boosted.

HD 800S é o melhor de todos, seguido do HD 800 original e o HD 700, o HD 820 achei mais fechado e abafado comparado aos outros 800. Dos mais antigos, percebi que o HD 660S teve uma evolução sobre o HD 650 e HD 600, embora ainda fique atrás do HD 700. Eu já tive todos tirando o 660 e o 820, atualmente tenho apenas o HD 800S, e esse áudio capturou bem a essência de cada fone, me fez lembrar nitidamente como eles soavam de verdade na minha cabeça, e me deu saudades da época que experimentei eles, principalmente a emoção que tive quando fiquei impressionado com a superioridade técnica do HD 700 sobre os mais antigos, e quando experimentei o 800, fiquei mais impressionado ainda... Bons tempos.
HD820 sounds worse than the others without a doubt but then it's a closed back design though, i preferred the 600 series with the HD600 being the best. I did notice that the original HD800 sounds a lot more open than the new 800S version. HD650 was not as clear as the HD600 in the upper regions but still sounded nice, in this sound demo i find the HD600 to be the best and also i understand why it's considered to be neutral. Worst are the 700 and 820
Han used the same clips as those for focal testing. Personally I prefer focal sound signature. However, I prefer the fit of Senheiser cans. Very useful. I recently bought a pair of Elegia for c400 USD with stands after listening these clips. Thanks Han.
Best Best to let each listener to objectively pick their best audio. For me the too 3 are the HD 800S HD 600 and the HD650. I have the HD 600 and is the best balance for money that you can get.

Hello everyone. Really interesting demo. I listened to this video very carefully with my modified Sennheiser HD 580 that sound almost like the HD 600. The 820 is unattainable while 650 and 660 I think sound worse than the 600 (sound less natural and less airy/bright) although perhaps the 660 is close to the 600. The 800 sound good but perhaps too neutral and ethereal while the 800s are less bright and slightly "intubated". If I had to choose a headphone today, I would be undecided between HD 600 and HD 800. If I consider the quality/price ratio, I would definitely still choose the HD 600. HD 600 and H580, I think I can say that despite being a project of 20 years ago, they remain a great reference. A record not even broken by Sennheiser. (Like 575) Very good video!!!

HD600 = richesse sonore , aération , ambiance acoustique , transparence .
HD650 = écoute plus charpenté , timbre très réaliste.
Pour moi il faut acheter les deux casques.

Yesterday, I came upon a channel that had the same kind of test and yet, listening in the same HPs (HD400 Pro) things sound different. Very interesting. Still, this is such a useful and only logical and practical way to give audio samples comparing headphones. This makes verbal commentary moot.

Ну и то как закрытость наушников влияет на бас на 800 серии видно чётко, что самые низкие частоты бьют по ушам заглушая другие частоты и басхеды этот эффект любят

HD700+ went for a very difference direction, which shows at the last song, it goes for very huge sound stage which almost only good in an orchestra or similar scenario, where 700 and 800S did well
for other music, 600 or 660S feel more normal and enjoyable

I agree, I have it in conjunction with the HD 650 and the real fault of the HD 700 is not really hights, but the problem is the MID Bass which has a gain of how 3.5 dB if you are free at 0 dB or 1db the Headphone gets much more clarity leaving much less than 650 and worth a lot. Greetings

I actually like the hd650... so analog and smooth. The mid range and vocals has a dreamy quality to them. Hmmm, might have to get one. I wonder how close to hd6xx is to the 650's. I owned the hd600's... and they had a very very grainy mid range that was forward, harsh, and fatiguing. The hd650 is sweet sounding in comparison.
6XX is a variation of 650, so the sound should be nearly identical.

660s были бы лучшими, если бы не задвигали вокал слишком далеко назад, да и вообще весь звук в них слышится будто в районе затылка. Я думал, мне попались какие-то бракованные 660s, но нет, в видео такой же звук (слушаю на HD598, если что), как и у моих. Ну и ещё: в играх 660s вообще НИКАКУЩИЕ на фоне 598.

To my ears. For series6 - 650 is the most balance one even though it’s too dark for my taste, 600 is push too much in the mid and 660s is the opposite being mid recess with treble being push.
However for Baroque track the 600 is the most impressive one as it’s sounds very clean and airy space for acoustic and details.
For series 8. What happened to 820 😞 why?? !

This is what Senneizer doesn't like, he modifies the sound of the same reference without signaling it.
I have the 2022 HD600 and the sound is identical to the 2022 HD650 with supporting measurements.
The old HD600 was better and much clearer, Senneizer screwed up the new HD600 (the low midrange is blown out and there is a -3dB dip at 2kHz)
