The faction leaders in this game crack me up! "No, you fool! You are being deceived, do our thing instead!" ...All the way to the last mission. They simply will not take a hint :D

The story is really pretty good - definitely better than HR for sure. But it's just such an absolute chore to play, and the environments are tiny and barren due to the limitations of being made for a console. HR was the exact opposite for me: awful story, but it *felt* like a Deus Ex game and I enjoyed existing in its universe.
It's mainly because of the many plot holes that exist between it and the first game, as well as the fact that the game was made for the console, so the levels are miniature sized and the game made simpler.
@@CamTarn they feel like polar opposites, but HR felt too out of place. Futuristic flying ships, robots, the typhoon aug?, no normal locks only pins, way different fashion (I can kinda bat an eye on that), boring protagonist (to be fair the gangsta pistol holding alex is worse but still they're both bad), anime acting and weird behaviours, vents in levels always lead to the boss. HR felt like a different universe, IW felt like a bad sequel. Both are unoriginal, and a complete slap to the original Deus Ex. I'd pick IW over the prequels though. I just prefer to ignore them. The IW vibe is not all different. I just don't think there'll ever be a game that comes close to DX2000.
throw box, jump on it, pick up the box, repeat, fly into infinity... troll physics. Also, this game looks older than the first deus ex. Way more primitive.
In what universe does IW look older than the first? One look at the lighting will tell you that it's much less primitive. The lighting was revolutionary. Every game in 2004 was trying to get dynamic lighting. The physics, while absurdly buggy, are significantly more realistic than the original, which didn't even have ragdoll. The textures are also much higher res.
UPDATE: I'm finally playing DXIW, albeit in a visual upgrade with widescreen. I found an unofficial patch that allows the game to run on modern machines and solves many of the issues. It does unfortunately crash during gameplay, but still can be played with regular saving. As a bonus, levels load near instantly as modern CPUs can be utilised. I bought 10 Windows XP PCs to play Invisible War on and it crashes on even one of them! I've pretty much given up ever trying to play it, but I still own the game as Deus Ex is my favourite game ever and I also liked HR and MD. Maybe one day I can play IW.
Sad truth about this speed-run is that there isn't that much to do other what you did. Deus Ex 2 is so shallow in comparison to Deus Ex 1 or even Human Revolution/Mankind Divided. Whole game felt half baked. Shame because that chronologically story line was one of the most interesting. Final culmination.
@@George_Washington_ Why not? In an awful lot of games, movies, books, etc. all prominent positions belong to men, and this is usually considered acceptable. So why not the other way around?

I know this game is no where near as good as Deus Ex 1 (And probably wouldn't have been if not consolized) but does anyone still enjoy the game? I often have fun playing it every year or so. It was a big part of my childhood and i thought it was an amazing game (Which i still think it is but Deus Ex 1 is much better, btw that game is amazing)
I loved it too, was really impressive at the time. And strangely humorous. The voice acting played a big part in that, and the script. Even the stuff that generic guards come out with is just so over the top, it's brilliant.
The game was so confusing, all the way to the end. Everyone trying to win you over and at the end you kill your own self [JC], if I recall correctly? And everyone you worked with pleads with you to aid them instead of the others, this was such a clusterfuck of who to side with.
@@chessemchesse3676 there was a toxic comment here before and i was replying to him but he deleted it. also... funny that your reply to me is to something a year ago too haha
HAHAHHAHAH, well to be honest you had more choices in this game than Mankind Divided. If we are serious tho, Mankind had a really good gameplay. It was the storyline that sucked. Unlike this one. This game didnt have a bad story and it had a complete end but the gameplay was so bad compared to the 1st one. I wish i had played Invisible War first and then move to the original. That way i would have enjoy it more since i wouldnt have big expectations
Haha, yes, exactly this. I played and completed IW when it came out. Decided to replay it recently and bought it on Steam. It's so unpleasant to play that I gave up and just watched the speedrun. By contrast, even though the original Deus Ex is ancient, it's actually still pretty fun!
You can really tell how inadequate Invisible War was compared to DX 2OOO by watching these speed runs. IW doesn't deserve to be in the same boat as the original.
You got to the third level by the time my first loading screen was done

Watching this reminded me how much I love the sound in the game.
Yea sounded a lot like Thief :P

The PC port of IW was designed to crash and restart itself in the process of loading new levels. It's retarded.
That bathroom bit was hilarious
Damn, it's crazy watching a game i spent hundreds of hours on trying to beat as a teen get beat in less than 20mins, gg my dude.
Man who thought it was a good idea to not only make the HUD circular but also make it take up that much screen real estate?! Good grief. Lmao
Great job, thanks for this fine piece of work!
I suppose its agiven that a deus ex speedrun will use the speed booster :p
And i just noticed how you used a pistol shot to get leo to shut up at 8:29 LMAO
glad you picked best ending.

thats the one where everyone dies tbh

patch that makes this game run correctly
