I'm surprised that it wasn't stressed that although Jonathan's hand was broken, if Jordan had actually hit the other kid in the face, he may have actually killed him.
Right? I thought Jon was gonna bring that up. Like Jordan may not have intended to hurt Jon, but he did intend to put that same level of strength into that punch which he was aiming at that bully's face. That could've killed him.

What really makes me mad is lois and Clark should have comfort jon more then Jordan. Lois just tells jon it could have been worst and I'm like he almost would have hurted the guy if not for jon. Lois and Clark should have been mad at Jordan and told him if it wasn't for his brother that guy could have been injured and they would have had a lawsuit instead they say its not you fault.
I was thinking the exact same thing. That kid would be dead which is why it's a wonder that Jon wasn't hurt more.

The actor who played Clark in that scene actually reminds me of Jordan.
But this show handles so many things better than Snyder did. I dont want to start on the episode after this. I wont spoil anything if you havent seen it, but black Lex's reasoning for going after Superman, its BvS done right(in one way I should add).
WB should let the team behind this make a Snyderless Clark Kent Superman film with Cavill. The team behind this treats Superman with respect. They understand the character 100%.

@AmosAlofSteel This is the second time I heard that. I thought Abrams' Superman film was a stand-alone, with no Clark Kent at all.
Also, Cavill has a deal that includes one more film or some other appearance, so I doubt he's fired. If so, then Abrams Superman is more of a box office failure already than Aquaman 2 will be because of Amber Herd not being fired & replaced.

I’m sorry but Jordan really really and I mean REALLY needed this chewing out. I know he has anxiety I know the powers are a lot to handle. But he was really feeling like he knew best on when he could control them and was using them pretty irresponsibility even before this. Hopefully this incident had him realize that he hasn’t been taking this situation as seriously as he could have and listen too his father more

@@kephrenh very true. He does need to be more responsible, but the bullying and mental health issues have really messed him up. The road to recovery is not easy but I'm glad that he has his family. And hopefully from now onwards he listens to Clark more and tries to understand him.

The way he stopped jordan from the punch, to me it looked like speed.
This proves Jon has powers they're dormant but he has them. Because if anyone else had done that their arm would've shattered.
That speech from Clark to Jordan is so Superman. These writers really get his character.

This I think makes Tyler's portrayal of Superman the quintessential adaptation of the character. Tyler Hoechlin portrays the selflessness, heroism and genuine warmth that so many people loved about the original Superman comics while also amazingly blending in the awkward mild mannered, slightly bumbling nerd that made Clark Kent such another interesting part of his character. But in this episode we can see the seriousness that comes with being Superman which can be hard to balance with a god-like being as powerful as Clark. The DCEU had a hard time trying to balance the realism that would happen if Superman actually existed, but this scene proves that Tyler and the CW knew what to do. This version of Clark knows the hardships and consequences that come with having great powers like his and that there will always be some people in the world that will fear him for what he can do despite how many good deeds he does as Superman. Tyler's Superman manages to blend the heroism and mild mannered personality that made Superman such a beloved character and not feel too campy, while also blending in the realistic aspects that would happen if an alien hero like Clark actually existed, but unlike the DCEU films have Clark have balance in his life and not make it too much of a downer since Superman is known for always keeping hope. All in all Hoechlin's portrayal manages to have the OG Superman's personality and balance it with the DCEU's circumstances, blending it into a great hero portrayal that many Superman actors will try to live up to.
This show is so relatable tbh. As the youngest sibling, I would often mess up and make clumsy mistakes that would cause my older siblings to be pissed at me. Then my parents would give me a talk and I’d often tell them that I didn’t mean to make them angry. As a younger sibling, u all can relate. Like ur older siblings would always look after and sacrifice a lot for u but sometimes u tend to be impulsive and mess up to the point that they get pissed. It happens to me a lot, especially when I was younger.

Not even just that but in general when you make big mistakes when you’re young and you think you can’t fix it. The last scene when Jordan is speaking with Lois and she hugs him and he lets it all out… I’ve gone through that. For a show about Superman’s family, it’s really relatable
I'm a younger sibling and the only sister my brother has, the biggest issue I have with my sibling is he's a covert narcissist who is trying to rule and dictate my life at every turn.
Jon has to have some strength and speed to block that punch. That Shockwave looks like it would do more than fracture a hand.

Some local punks were giving a handicapped man a hard time. Jon Kent intervened, and there was this amazing image of him standing between the bullies and their prospective victim, with his hands on his hips--the basic "Superman" pose.
In the background, young Clark is looking over Martha Kent's shoulder, as she carries him away from the potential danger. The look in Clark's eyes, as he watches Jonathan confront evil, is profound. It is the look every boy has in his eyes, when he sees Superman.
It says, "That's who I want to be."

In my opinion john is one of if not the best charcter in this show the love he has for his family and especially his brother is amazing. This is why im starting to think he might end up as a villian. I'm honestly sick of Jordan getting upset because he doesn't get his own way, look how upset he almost got when Clark was reluctant to let him play because his powers are getting stronger. Jordan your father is literally Superman, a guy who always has to keep his power in check to make sure he never hurt innocent people in a world of cardboard. You can't keep secrets about your powers from your father, it's a bad idea waiting to happen
Yeah he really needed that chewing out today big time. But I think it’s finally been made clear to him that he doesn’t know what’s best when it comes to his powers. And Clark let him slide because he didn’t want to risk ruining any joy he might find but clearly playing that game was a bad idea and Jordan only really wanted to play in this one to satisfy his ego. Even Jonathan (who’s ex who dumped him and apparently left him for his old teammate on the opposing team who then insults him about it to his face) is level headed enough to keep his cool. So yeah he got chewed out and rightfully so but I think this is the character development he needs

For me this scene was more about the parallels between Jordan and Tag vs Clark and Jonathan. Both Jordan and Tag are struggling to adjust to their new powers and are the target of aggression. Clark and Jon are trying hard to defuse the situation and both end up hurt in the crossfire. Also note how the scene was cut that both Clark and Jon hit the ground the same time. I also think Jon will develop powers at some point just different ones which will mean they will always need each other and be connected.
Superman is about hope. Tag and Jordo don't see this as gifts because no one is offering a vision. In the future, Jordo could join his Dad and share his mission, Clark just needs to give Jordo the vision. Each time a superpower kicks in, Jordo needs to see this as a step up. He needs to get this vision of hope from Clark. Tag could be Smallville's Flash if Clark takes him under his wing.

The brothers are my favorite part of this show. I love how the writers won’t take sides between them - they can both be great kids and they can both be awful too. Their relationship is so real. It’s excellent writing.

@@daltonnash6136 In most cases it takes around 6 to 8 weeks to recover from a broken arm or wrist. It can take longer if your arm or wrist was severely damaged. You will need to wear your plaster cast until the broken bone heals.

The really ironic part is that back when Clark had Jordan practice punching that log, Jonathan told him to imagine that he was punching this exact kid in the face. In retrospect, maybe not the best inspirational advice even though it might have been gratifying to see Cutter's head explode like a water balloon.

Even without the powers. They are still at least 30 times to 10 times stronger than a normal human.
His reflexes and accuracy is catching Jordans hand was also slightly super human. And to be fair even though it broken it DID stop Jordan, who should have been able to punch straight through his human hand. His powers are probably coming in slowly and properly rather than Jordans haphazard development.

@@jeffpierce585 In Supermans first tory line. Where he couldn't fly but just jump very high. His planet Krypton had 30 times gravity and red Sun. Then adding that with his ability to metabolize Yellow Sun to get stronger and the lighter gravity on earth
It allowed him jump really high.
The flight ability was added later and so another retcon occured
I think Jon has powers but it works off his will power rather than emotion like Jordan. Jon willed himself to stop Jordans punch which activated his speed and strength but only during that moment. Hence why he managed to actually get infront and catch the punch which would require the same strength to do but then broke him arm. Just my theory tho!

Keep in mind they don’t think John has powers. (Just in case you aren’t aware, the amount of force to break a skull is significantly greater than the amount required to break a hand/arm)

@@Eldergodconsultant Actually it makes sense. When the metal tubs fell on them, I think it wasn't a coincidence they didn't get hurt because they were together. Yeah, later it was revealed that Jordan did that, but I think all of Jordan's manifestations of powers have been shown when he was with Jon.

Did anyone else notice that when John got super angry and emotional ,it triggered Jordan. Like almost weakened him. What if, John is his counterpart. Remember in 1x06, the punch by Jordan would have shattered a regular person entire arm but John essentially stopped and was quick as well. We see Jordan being strong but not quick. In addition, remeber how he was able to grab the hammer with BOTH hands (a day before he basically broke his arm) and was able to kinda throw it at the solar panel. I think John has powers that will counter his brothers but needs an emotional trigger to trigger them. I would love to know what people think.

This is such a refresher from Boys and invincible makes superman come in a different light.
He was also lucky it was just a broken hand.
Imagine what would've happened if that punch had hit the intended target, it could have been a broken skull or broken neck.
And yes, I know the kids an asshole and a bully and is probably is due for some humble pie via a knuckle sandwich.
But speaking as someone who's been in Jordans shoes, while there are times it's absolutely necessary to defend yourself if your threatened or attacked, doesn't mean you have to or should.
I started taking self defense and martial arts classes specifically to protect myself from a particular tormentor. It definitely got me out of several scrapes by figuring out a quick defense so I could then run for help when cornered.
But one particular day when he found out I was doing martial arts, he tried goading me into a street fight. A friend who trained at the same dojo asked why I walked away when I could probably kick his ass in two seconds. I replied it was 2 things.
1. That's exactly what he wanted, even if he had no idea the mismatch was the other way around.
2. As satisfying as it would have been to make him feel pain, even put him in the hospital. It was even more satisfying to see the shocked and humiliated look on his face when I didn't play into his stupid game.
Let me be clear, this isn't a "VIOlence OnlY BegAtes MORE VIOlence" sermon. If you are threatened, but if you see a quick exit there is no shame in using it (your own safety is priority) and if you have no other choice, never forget a fight is never like in the movies, even if you come out on top you'll still get hurt.
Clark is a good Dad
I love the fact that Clark didn't blow up at him, because he understands the situation, but he still made Jordan aware that he should be held accountable for what he did, and that controlling his powers is not something to scoff at.

I knew I disliked the Jordan character based on his immediate reaction to learning that his dad was Superman. Every episode he keeps making stupid decisions and never learns.

What sucks is that after Episode 6, Jordan gets treated with kindness while Jonathan is the one who gets treated like a stray dog.
This can easily be applied to us all in using our words responsibly and controlling our tempers. Words can hurt in a way that takes a lot longer than a broken bone to heal. I love this show.
I don't know if you noticed but there is a beam around Jonathan's hand when he blocks his brother's point he goes at the same speed.
Kinda weird that they didn't bring up that Jordan was about to / could have killed a kid. That is a bit more important to discuss than hurting your bros hand I think
Dear Zod, a Superman acting responsible and heroic. Wow. I'm legit impressed, thats the most Superman-ish scene I've seen in years. On a freaking Arrowverse tv show. Urge to break my vow to not watch anymore Arrowverse shows rising. Also the casting is on point with Lois, getting strong Margot Kidder vibes from her.
Remember Jon took a punch from Bizzaro world superboy.
Jon healed from his arm and hand being broken like nothing. He's at least an enhanced human being
The twins reminds me of Lizzie and Josie ( Legacies, The Vampire Dairies) in terms of personality but maybe Jonathan is a late bloomer in terms of his powers
