The 1996 E300 D has a built-in engineering flaw, as I discovered with the same problem. If any air gets into the fuel lines, the bubbles rise to a high point a form a bubble block of the fuel lines. Having air leaks won't usually cause much problem UNLESS you park the car on a 2% or steeper grade pointed up hill. Then all the air bubbles migrate toward the front of the fuel injector pump and block the lines. I never solved the problem of the leaks to my satisfaction but I didn't need to as long as I always parked the car pointing down hill on any grade, it always started without a problem. But point it uphill even a little bit and NO WAY would it start. Every city parking lot has a slight grade for shedding rainwater, so always head it in or back it into a downward slanting grade and it won't give you starting problems like this.

Any suggestion please.thank you
I want to know were is feed pump can be seen in tha engine.is it near the injection pump or near the fuel filter.thank you
Prise d'air au niveau de la pompe hp changer les joints et vérifier le circuits d'injection
This car has not been used for almost 6months.so my observation the diesel fuel return to the gas tank.so the fuel line is empty.
Did you figure out the solution? Have the same problem with my e300. Thanks!
xjinit it ended up being one of the lines has a super tiny leak and was drawing air in.
John Bertram wich was a problem. ?
@@islandoftiki So did you replace the line? I have a leak with mine.
@@islandoftiki same problem here, was the leak underneath the car?
Mine did-- leak om the fuel preheater
