Hi Quan, can you do a lasagna garden bed? It can be as simple as laying down flattened cardboard boxes, wet them and then pile leaves on top. Make little pockets in the leaves and place just enough soil for your seedling. The cardboard will block the weeds and over time the leaves break down and feed the plants. If you aren’t familiar with this method search online for lasagna garden or instant garden. You can use a number of materials to make one but the cardboard and leaves have worked for me. Good luck!!
It is easy to feel overwhelmed in the spring when you see all those stinking weeds! Do not let them get to you! Stay focused on a small area at a time. The cardboard method is pretty easy. I would not spend money on extra soil. Who has that right now?? I also have type 2. I am so encouraged by your attitude! I came here to subscribe from Randy's channel! He is a wonderful mentor! You are loved and you are making a difference too my friend! I live in Utah and we are freezing right now!
Thank you so much and I feel you on the freezing weather. We just got snow for the second time this past weekend and I was shivering in my boots! lol 😂
Couldn't hear clearly due to wind in background. Are you trying to kill the grass in the bed in order to prep for our spring garden? Suggestions: Spray grass with a diluted solution of vinegar and water, Pour hot water over the grass, laying black plastic over to kill the weeds- This method is called soil solarization. Good luck.
I definitely use cardboard for winter to clear the grass and just put a few bags of soil down on top of the cardboard. I lay the bag of soil down flat and stick a few holes in one side then flip it over and slice it open across the top using it like a flower pot and just plant the seeds directly in the bag. When spring comes I just toss the bag and leave the soil in place on top of the card board. You can also cover the space with black trash bags or a tarp till you are ready to use it this spring.
I was also going to suggest cardboard over the weeds. Then put leaves or grass clippings over the cardboard to hold it down. For the lettuce, spinach, and other things you want to plant now, I would just leave a small area uncovered and pull the weeds by hand so you can plant there. When your seeds pop up, mulch around them to keep the weeds from coming back. For mulch, I usually use newspaper with grass clippings over it, because that is what I have available to me and it doesn't cost anything. I hope this helps you.
Hi Quan I'm new to your channel. Get some cardboard boxes. Break them down and then throw your compost and dirt over the cardboard. And plant your seeds.
You can just dig up a small section for lettuce, add some soil in the hole and literally toss some seeds. Lettuce grows really easy. Spinach takes longer to germinate so I usually start mine in a small pot or a.plastic bowl.
Perhaps a no dig thing? Put cardboard down- place like a half and half compost/potting soil mixture on top maybe? Plant seeds inside mixture. That would be kinda expensive, but I've read about Charles Dowding and all that. Look him up if you feel like it.

As someone else said, throw some cardboard over the area that you want for your spring plants. It will kill the weeds

Cover the whole bed with cardboard until you're ready to plant in there. It'll kill the weeds and they will feed the soil.

I agree with others that say lay cardboard.
I did.forget to tell you to wet it very well and make some compost and fertilizer onto and then dirt. And you should be fine.
How's the weeds situation going?
Hey
