After filtration the water comes into contact with the tank membrane and pipes. Doesn't it therefore add micro plastics back into the filtered water?

You didn't mention that microplastics come from synthetic fibers used in clothing, bags, etc. Washing these synthetics sends a large amount of plastic down the drain. Are synthetic cloth grocery bags better or worse than a thin film plastic grocery bag? The synthetic cloth bag has much more plastic by weight and it is in fine fibers that shed particles. Do you need to use natural fiber cloth bag?
Most bottled water is filtered yet still contains micro plastics. I wonder if synthetic filter material sheds micro plastic particles? What about all the plastic filter canisters and tubings in a water filter system? Are there microplastics in GAC filters? What about carbon block filters? What are the binders in carbon block filters? All carbon filters shed particles, just smaller and much fewer as they are flushed.

Plastic pollution is indeed a threat to every organism in the world. It can be dealt with but its one of those issues that can be tackled but its so small and MANY of them is in our surroundings. I hope our body and other living creatures can adopt to plastic pollution. If not, then rip to all of us :(
