I don't know what you expect out of a free game, its also not like these cosmetics have any actual value besides looks so theres no reason for them not to rerelease them
@@NeonTurkey What I would expect is new cosmetics. The point of limited time cosmetics is to be rare, seen once in a blue moon. It makes people want to buy them before they are gone. So when rec room releases a 20,000 token item that is limited time, people will spend money for tokens to buy it. Then they rerelease it to make another quick dime, not even caring about the devoted players who bought it when it was still rare. I would also like to point out how they remove the weekly challenge system that was just fine the way it was, and coincidentally, the only way you can get skins now is to wait a month, or buy them for 3,000+ tokens. And also taking event items that were free and reselling them for thousands of tokens (Especially invasion items).
@@Grundlepimpbut they do release new cosmetics? the point of weeklies were never to get limited skins, they were to get skins (even repeated, as told by rec room with “already own this skin? get a 4 star box instead” for when you complete it while owning the skin. that proved the skins would be repeats and sellable. rec room constantly gives out free items through surveys. Like 5 minutes for a free bubly, or even the new science department thing where completing a survey every month gives you free items. and yes, the amulet is overpriced but it actually did something than look cool aka open up doors, cause random events like the one in showdown, or even when the science shovel/halo would put a aura around your character. shouldn’t make it too expensive but it doesn’t make it cheap
@@Grundlepimprec room made it clear they don’t want people being left out of items (though there will be obvious exceptions, like the Class Of ____ Shirts, Collaborative Shirts, like the Raw Data set, etc.)
i would say 2019-2020 was the sweet spot for rec room, we got the quest and it introduced millions of people to vr, making rec room boom massively, and giving us many new content creators, and many of them also made great games, and the community was fun, and the devs were very tight nit with the community back then. Now a'days, they are tone deaf to any of us and it really feels like they don't care about anything except money
I think the reason why players say “Old RR is Better!” Is because it’s classic, what they remember, what every one was used to that gave the game a clean classic feel. Personally, that’s what I think, I love the nostalgic feeling I got when hearing old RR music, even though I’ve only been playing for 2 1/2 years.
The reason people say that old RR is better is because back then, they actually listened to players, added RRO's, and the most expensive cosmetic was 12,500.
well the reason that we havent been getting many rros lately is because theres already so many its hard to think up ideas for new ones. also they take more time to make now so they can be better.
I think there are a couple major differences that set new and "old" rec room apart for me. One is the player count. Back in 2019 when I started playing, rec room was successful, but wasn't as mainstream as it is becoming now. It felt like a small community game instead of a robotic, corporate owned, massive empire of a game. More players means more servers, therefore more lag. There is no denying that the game has gotten way laggier over the years. I tried to play Rec Room on standalone Quest 2 the other day and it was almost unplayable because of how laggy it has become. A lot of this also has to do with poor optimization as well. Even with an above average PC, I still get frame drops every time I open my menu nowadays. This is something that needs to be addressed or it will end up killing the game. Great video, this is important subject matter to bring up. The status of rec room as a game needs to be discussed more.
Finally someone who agrees with me, while I think old rec room has some upsides like focas on rros and cosmetics being in the same style, the game is just better these days
Well actually in Paintball to get really good at sniping or any other guns you can go onto these legs and get a chance to win a golden skin that only so many people have so that’s a lot more special than some dinky make it to midnight powers
RecRally would be really cool if the native Quest version supported external wheel, shifter,l and foot controllers. Controlling a vehicle with a Quest controller just sucks.
@@0vxx the convenience of just putting my headset on playing with minimal fuss is often the only way I would be able to get online and play. One day I will rock a killer VR PC ; however, it is not that season of life yet for me... so I'm just grateful for some sort of Quest-native version of RecRoom to play. For the most part I spend my online time rocking PaintBall; however, native wheel/foot controllers would so rock!
I miss old Rec Room. Rec Room has changed man :( all they care about is money now they got rid of weekly's and the game is slowly declining in my eyes. (side note make it to midnight is a copy of Dead by daylight) (Don't get me wrong I love Rec Room but they just focus on cosmetic Items now and using Lore as a cash grab)

I first started the game was not as greedy and they actually cared about there game but now they are just money hungry and they use this 'lore' as a cash grab, now yes I get that they are a free game and they need money but still back when I was playing they where making a lot of money and still making quality updates and stuff that is gone now and it makes me sad seeing Rec Room slowly getting greedier and greedier and it sucks it really suck because I love this game and I love playing it but this is getting to the point where it feels like they don't care about there game anymore and its just sad. (Also Make it to Midnight is just a copy of Dead by daylight... I think make it to midnight was well made but seriously? copying another game now rec room?!)
@@spectrefriends3097Voice Moderation isn’t bad lol, could use slight improvement but it’s good. They make it clear enough that this game should be 13+, anyone younger should be on a Junior, parents just are not monitoring their kids and that’s what spawned these problems.
Oh, also I just read that last part of your comment, of course MITM is a ripoff, but there’s also been another DBD ripoff on Roblox (Flee the Facility).
My thoughts on this (warning: a wall of words incoming!): 1. Graphics: Old RR takes the point here. The second iteration of the 2016 dorm room looked amazing. The tinted glass on tinted glasses looked amazing.Old lighting rooms looked oddly nostalgic even if i joined in 2020. The atmosphere felt very campus-esqe (or college-esqe) woth the old graphics. 2. Rec room originals: easy point for old RR. Some of them were bad though (and by "some" i mean only dodgeball.Every other RRO was good.Actually no. Dodgeball looked cool in the old days, but now it's just...). I don't really like make it to midnight unfortunately.Tried it once, lagged a little, screaming children, people leaving the room, bonky camping, the scream vfx and for some reason i was in sitting mode all the time even though in the settings i was standing. Note: rec royale had a progression system before make it to midnight. 3. User-created content: Finally a point for new RR. Just kidding (). Strangely enough i liked the old creation process of RR (early 2020).Yes i know we now have RR studio, but now people can now steal assets from other people (i think there was also unity store but i ain't sure). Also the new UI is problematic (I don't find bad,but it is complex and laggy). Also also now that UGC (user-generated content) is now the main thing, it's a double-edged sword, because we could get cool rooms or zero effort rooms (hehe skibiddi toilet). 4. Monetisation (i think that's the right word): I understand why new RR is so "money hungry",but i think they could be better at that department (though I'm not sure, because I don't know anything about finances and money). So because I'm choosing which one is less "money hungry" i choose old RR. Notes: i joined 4th june 2020 and i want to experience old RR (late 2017-late 2018. I don't want to experience 2016 RR, because it's very bare bones). I'm typing through phone so if there any grammar mistakes, sorry. I don't know what else to say really...so um the end i guess.
