He really is! Thanks be to God. I'm from Denmark and I don't always undertand everything that Scott Hahn says, because he uses some hard words. But I always feel like I understand what Dr. Pitre is saying. So that's why he is my go to. I have really learned so much from him.

Finally, Dr. Pitre comes on the show. I was starting to think Dr. Pitre was not well known for some reason. He's my online teacher for much of what I'm being revealed these days. One day, I hope to be a priest and my little brother is starting to say the same. Hopefully, my middle brother and only younger sister too open themselves to the priesthood and life of the nuns. GOD bless you all!

I love that Dr. Pitre is so about the business of doing God's work, that he doesn't even know the name of his TH-cam channel! It's like he's driving the train, and we're welcome to hop on or off, but he doesn't have time for self promotion; there are more important things to be done. I'm just thankful to hop on board and take the journey with him!

Free me from all that is unholy and for love of You, I may remain unnoticed and unknown to others except to You.
Do not let me take credit for the good You do to me and through me but to always give You the honor.
May I admit my wrong doings and give up chasing worldly things and look forward to Your true and lasting glory." Amen.

As an Anglican, we have the Daily Office which is praying 4 times a day as well as reading lots of Scripture. I’ve been an Anglican for the past 7 years (coming from an evangelical tradition). The Daily Office has revolutionized my Christian life and most certainly my prayer life!

    • @joshpeterson1999
      @joshpeterson1999 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

I love your comment! I grew up in a great little evangelical free church, then became Anglican in college. I discovered the daily office, and ultimately (after a few years) the fruit of the beautiful prayer (psalms really) of the BCP was my eventual conversion to Catholicism. The Catholic breviary (liturgy of the hours, divine office, all the same thing), was a Godsend, and has been a joy to delve into, especially coming from the richness of prayer that Anglicanism gave me. I'd be curious to see if you are in a similar place in regard to prayer after a few years since this comment or not. (Getting to chance to sing Vespers communally is also a great blessing).

Absolutely amazing talk thank you both. I've read 'Jesus and the Jewish roots of the Eucharist' and it is fabulous! Dr. Pitre is always informative, fluid and you can sense the excitement in his discovery & passing on of a tremendous body of work in his books. A firm favourite...
I think I'll invest in Dr. John's and Dr. Pitre's biblical commentary too. Maybe start the 'Bible in a year' again in the new year with Fr. Mike which was really cool.
Also, thanks so much for the wise words at the end too....I really appreciate the integrity of those words. I often get quite upset reading really nasty stuff on our Pope online. I know he's not perfect, but if he is erring at all to me it's on being 'too forgiving & understanding' which is the best way to err. As the good Dr. says, and Jesus too in Scripture in His own wise way I guess cleaning up my own house is the best place to start changing the world.
God Bless both of you & many thanks!

In the True Life in God messages that Jesus has been giving to a Greek Lady since 1985, this is what Jesus says about the unceasing prayer, “unceasing prayer is to feel my presence all day, it is to desire Me all day”. I love it. It’s a first hand information coming from Jesus Himself.
What I would like to say about this book is that, it taught me everything I need to know about the spiritual life. I have not been able to internalize everything yet bc although Jesus talks in a simple way but it’s also quite complex or rather deep, and it takes a lot of meditation and some scripture reading to be able to absorb it better, and yet every time you read it you see things in a different way, you see something more, you go deeper.
Okay, I’m halfway through the video and I’ll continue watching.

Look of love, st peter before first miracle in Acts, and entering into the look of love between the persons of the Trinity. Holy Spirit is the sigh of love between the two looks.

Brants The case for Christ is an excellent overview of the historical evidence for the authenticity of the gospels. It’s accessible and contains the actual historical evidence that many people hear about but often never see for themselves. some of the arguments in it are eye opening bc they are so simple yet so persuasive. I would highly recommend it for someone looking to review the actual generally agreed upon historical evidence for the gospels.

I like that he mentions that we each have a personal relationship with God. I'm reading the book, "God loves the Autistic Mind" by Fr. Matthew Schneider. The book explains that concept well and I highly recommend it to all my fellow neurodivergents and to those who love us.

Great conversation. Not to steal this guy's thunder, but The Ways of Mental Prayer by Lehodey is a great book on the logistics of how to pray and it helped me a lot.

I love his talks I’m very grateful for Brett Petrie my issue is when going to adoration I am very dyslexic and my church is very dark so sometimes I just sit there sometimes I imagine taking the Eucharist or try and remember the times that the Saints used the monstrance to ward off evil and protect their monasteries or convince but reading is not my best suit so I feel a little bit lost I’ve been doing the Bibles online using Brett Petrie and also a Bible in a year with Father Mike Schmitz or even just short little TH-cam videos talking about the commentary of the day but using Bible verses to explain what we are doing wrong in our lives and society

Sometimes I go into Church and listen to sacred music (with earphones) I've found on TH-cam. You could listen to the Word in Church that way as well. God Bless.

He puts words to how most Christians I know live. Not found this in the modern eastern churches. I go to an evangelical charismatic church and living in presence is the focus. Pray without ceasing means you have to let go of a lot of this world.

It's a thrilling dialoge/ lecture. I did wonder though about the rosary RE the Bible scene in which a woman calls out to Jesus to praise him, blessing his mother as the womb that bore him and the breasts that suckled him. I remember also that St Theresa was not allowed a Bible, but had to learn and hold onto the Gospel from the Priest's sermons and all supplementary texts. I believe the Holy Spirit must have played a big part in her erudition.
