Yoshi Malo It might not be so admirable lol. I can sing pretty well but that's because it runs in my family. I'm not saying he for sure didn't work hard, but for some it's not this big struggle to go through. So, you know. I'm just saying it's possible he's like me.
Why so much hate? Ramin understands the story of Les Mis, he's played numerous roles in the show over his lifetime. Here he is simply singing the song, not performing as the character, Marius. Let's just just acknowledge that he sung it beautifully :)
I think the problem was the minimalistic orchestration and the fact that there was no conductor to coordinate all instruments in a way that enables the singer to emote through shifts in his pacing. In a small band environment, you need to always stay on the rhythm so the whole thing doesn't sound odd.
okay so since Ramin played Enjolras: Imagine this is Enjolras singing instead of Marius, imagine how would it be if Enjolras survived but no one else did. Imagine how guilty Enj would feel. Yeah I'll leave now....
I also taught myself to sing (I had a few lessons but hated the teacher so I left. I've still got lots of room for improvement) I hope people will love me as much as they do Ramin.
This is it! You have to pay full attention to the cadence and the music and get the perfect amount of grief, passion and anguish in this song and really wring it out, it is a performance, not a mere song to be sung, Ramin, does a superb job here, you can hear the pain and passion, some singers don't inject into the performance, just sing the words and leave those listening flat, I recently heard a singer, operatically trained too, singing this and it was flatter than a table top! No interjection. I was horrified and very disappointed.
OmG this is the only song that ever turned me into a human very noisy fountain of tears at the cinema... and even now send shivers all over me... it's just my projection or Ramin is moved too at the end? After all, only the emotion of music should have the right to ever make those stunning eyes red and those beautiful lips trembling ^-^
Eddie Redmayne still delivers the most emotive performance, yes his vocals might not be as strong, but the song is better understood listening to Eddie, and the emotion is incredible. I'd watch Eddie on stage any day!
You can't really compare Eddie's performance to the stage productions since his version was in a movie that put more emphasis on the emotions than the music anyway, but yeah, Eddie's rendition is definitely the most emotional I've seen as of yet :)
He loses himself in every song he sings it's so incredible. I honestly think Ramin does a great (if not perfect) Enjolras... so hearing him sing this song is almost like it IS Enjolras' song and he is apologizing for everything.
If he was just a few years younger he would have been a mindblowingly good Marius in the movie but in saying that I also think he would have been as good as Jackman or possibly better as Jean Valjean but I suppose they needed a Big Hollywood name for the role.
Except for the troll, I think everyone hit it on the head-what a voice, and a great interpretation of "Empty Chairs". I guess someone forgot Ramin has done "Le Miz" before!
I think Ramin, as a high baritone, is not that comfortable singing the lower notes of this song. Unlike Hadley. But I'm a fan of them both. They are a killer combo. Valjean and Javert. Eric and Raoul. Enjolras and Grantaire.
Um...what makes you think he's uncomfortable? They sound fine. Plus Hadley is a tenor so where's the logic that he's comfortable down there in the A,Bb,C range?
Hey calm down dude. It's not meant to hate on Ramin. He does not sound only "fine". He sounded great. Uhm, if you base it from what Ramin said, he's a baritone, so maybe Hadley's a baritone too (but I think they are tenors). I'm just saying that I think Hadley sounds better and is more comfortable on the lower notes. And Ramin is struggling, a bit I think. Plus, Hadley sounds more fierce on those lower registers. Just my opinion though! Good day, sir!
I'm not a big fan of the guitar part. It didn't win me over until the "oh my friends, my friends, don't ask me". For some reason I loved the way it sounded with his voice there.
what up with the tempo?? The songs lyrics are about a guy who survived while all his friends got blown away, not exactly a happy slappy tune and for whatever reason they sped this song up, the man can sing but the accompaniment sure didn't do him any favors
Really? The moment I saw him on stage I swore I remembered him from being Raoul in Phantom 25th. I looked it up and it wasn't him who played Raoul. But I swore. Wow I feel like an idiot. At least I got the part where he was in Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary right.
I would have been okay with just him singing by himself without that awful noise in the background. Needless to say though, this is still amazing. Ramin is such a talented man, I love him in everything he does.
This arrangement is a bit different live, than it is in the musical itself. This struck me as minor in more spots than in the musical. Maybe it's that way in all the stage productions vs. the musical released last year. But, it was still epic and worthy of praise, Ramin is a musical delight.
it's recorded on a mobile phone or one of the world's worst camera's and you're criticising a note that he hits every time, watch every other video of him...
Phantom faces at the window ;) he is the angel of music!
+Emily Brace Given the fact that in his perspective in the two way mirror was a window. :)
His voice is beautiful, especially considering he taught himself to sing. Gave me chills.
He did? Wow, that's probably the greatest inspiration I've ever received :D
Yep and actually he can't read music either.
~:~

I think there us a lot of jealousy against Ramin!
stunning voice. and still has the ability to get me all emotional. Ramin is simply a singing perfection.
I wish I can pack my bags and go to Ramin's concert all over the world.
Jesus this guy can sing !! Start to finish effortless
I adore the violinist in the background. Gives the song a very rustic edge to it!
That's Coleman Smith. He's amazing!
read somewhere Ramin calls his concert performances are “broadgrass” Broadway / bluegrass - love it whatever you call it 😁🤗
Are people really dissing his performance?!! He sang this song differently in his own way but still beautifully!! He has a magnificent voice!
I think the problem was the minimalistic orchestration and the fact that there was no conductor to coordinate all instruments in a way that enables the singer to emote through shifts in his pacing. In a small band environment, you need to always stay on the rhythm so the whole thing doesn't sound odd.
melting.... He is so talented and a sought-after professional!!
okay so since Ramin played Enjolras: Imagine this is Enjolras singing instead of Marius, imagine how would it be if Enjolras survived but no one else did. Imagine how guilty Enj would feel. Yeah I'll leave now....
Who needs an intact heart anyways?
ValeNyan i prefer Eddie Redmayne as Marius much more depth
It's a good thing he did both and Valjean as well
Wow. Shit.
Shit man
Phantom faces at the window,
Phantom shadows on the floor,
The Phantom of the Opera is here
Inside your- wait.
Wrong musical.
:)
haha love this. Made me laugh!!!
CaribbeanBlue LMFAO made my day!!!!!!!!!
Considering I came here from binge watching his Phantom performances, you just made my night! XD
Omg yes 🙌
I also taught myself to sing (I had a few lessons but hated the teacher so I left. I've still got lots of room for improvement) I hope people will love me as much as they do Ramin.
Theatrelover99 hey, it's been a while so you might not even see this. If you do, though, how's the singing going??
I'm so excited he's going to be Jean Valjean in the Broadway revival of Les Mis. I can't wait to go see it!!!
I just love his voice. So amazing....
His voice can reach to the sky.
God bless him.
Why are people comparing this to performances where the actors are playing the role? Ramin is giving a concert here, he's not playing Marius.
Why all the Ramin hate? He's literally the best, even if Michael Ball will always be Marius, this arrangement is still incredible
I love his voice and the whole man such a great personality
It's just incredible how he loses himself in every song he sings. Anyone who says singing means giving up acting is ridiculous! Thanks for posting!
AWWW Ramin had made a wonderful sad song into a beautiful serenade!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!
This is so beautiful!
Awesome! His voice is amazing.
If he does a one-man les mis, I'm totally okay with it.
Siings beautifully and very. relaxed in his own skin.
he's the best.. as simply as that!! thanks!
This man is singing perfection.
Wow! Really powerful!
Awwww he looks like he is going to start crying when he finsishes the song :( I ove him so much
Stunning!
superb performance
saw him as val jean and it changed my opinion about the character. so talented
love him and this song
"Phantom faces in the window" AHHK XD
I was dying for him to sing this when I saw him in Atlanta. I'm glad he's still doing it on tour. 3 Thanks so much for posting!
I can’t believe I didn’t know he ever came to Atlanta! At what venue did he perform?
@@amoebaj Just checked my ticket stub (which I proudly display in my bedroom), and it was the Center Stage Theater!
Omg...loved Rammin
LOVE Ramin! He should come to Denmark! 3
That's an excellent interpretation!!

This is AMAZING
Superb!
OGM Ramin ~
Bet he can perform the entirety of Les Mis on his own...
MUST... FAV... THIS!!!
This guy is good. Whoa.....
I think you typed an extra o in "good."
+Blake Gilbert ramin the god! haha
OmG this is the only song that ever turned me into a human very noisy fountain of tears at the cinema... and even now send shivers all over me... it's just my projection or Ramin is moved too at the end? Love His Passion. Like Elvis
Thank you for posting! Perfection.
I am now sobbing.
Ramin should play all of les mis characters :D It can be awesome!
I love him...
perfection
Jinxxlover thanks for answering!
Ramin Karimloo

Ramin is amazing in this professional production. Enjoyed the version by Luke Murgatroyd as well.
If he was just a few years younger he would have been a mindblowingly good Marius in the movie but in saying that I also think he would have been as good as Jackman or possibly better as Jean Valjean but I suppose they needed a Big Hollywood name for the role.

I can respect that :) I wasn't angry in the first place I just wanted to know what your reasoning behind saying so was. :)
Oh, I appreciate that! :) Thank you, sir!
I know you commented this 4 month ago and I doubt you care, but it's Erik.
Really? I love the guitar in this!
That violinist in the background, though.
Ramin!!😍
The window is a mirror and he's looking at his shadows.
I'm not a big fan of the guitar part. It didn't win me over until the "oh my friends, my friends, don't ask me". For some reason I loved the way it sounded with his voice there.
Now put this to a full orchestra. Good stuff, there.
what up with the tempo?? The songs lyrics are about a guy who survived while all his friends got blown away, not exactly a happy slappy tune and for whatever reason they sped this song up, the man can sing but the accompaniment sure didn't do him any favors
This is during one of Ramin`s BroadGrass gigs, where they fuse Musical numbers with a Country style. Hence the result....
His wife is a very lucky woman!
I want to go to America :(
Or Ramin comes back to London!
Omg now I feel like an idiot. I knew he played the phantom, but your reference just zoomed over the top of my head. So sooo sorry!
In my freinds words: On a scale from Robert Pattinson to Robert Downey Jr. how much did you like this version?
I think I saw Ramin as Jean Valjean in the show when I went. Didn't he play Raoul in the 25th Phantom? If he did I totally saw him.
No, in the 25th Anniversary of Phantom of the Opera he was the Phantom.
Really? The moment I saw him on stage I swore I remembered him from being Raoul in Phantom 25th. I looked it up and it wasn't him who played Raoul. But I swore. Wow I feel like an idiot. At least I got the part where he was in Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary right.
Oh. Oops.
No: the wonderful Hadley Fraser (his best friend.. Ramin even named his son after him) played Raoul
Really? I don't know?
i think he's better at playing the role of enjolras cause he has that heroic face. But he's still gr8 tho love his voice
I agree
I was thinking the same thing!
I miss my friends up in heaven, so I’m like you I guess missing a friend I guess
I thought he played jean valjean.?
He has played many roles in Les Mis, including this one, in West End and Broadway productions.
I don't know who are you, my Ramin? Valjeans, Marius or Enjolras...
I would have been okay with just him singing by himself without that awful noise in the background. Needless to say though, this is still amazing. Ramin is such a talented man, I love him in everything he does.
I make this joke all the time and people just call me obsessed :(
Here, again. Every time I'm here, I get full body goosies. DONE. *Throws ALL the things*
It's not a horrible arrangement, but I definitely see where it could be improved...
I laughed so hard at this comment!! xD
Haha! Even eponine?
now i'm pregnant.
I thought that the violin needed rearranging more
I feel a bit sorry for the violinist he looks like he's having fun :[
Don't you think he's more handsome than George Clooney?
You hate him? Fight me😃
michael ball
k
He can be my dad lmao
Well, Michael owns this song. He's a tough act to follow!
no make sens dus ur koment
_ 1 m
If anything, the guitar is far too loud...
i like him better as Enjorales tbh.
He only understudied this role and I agree he was more suited to Enjolrus. A darker character with more meat!
i agree a little... its a bit to loud!!
If anyone could get me to switch teams...
But that guitar part is terrible. It needs rearranging, badly.
He makes a better Phantom
Yikes! Does he know what this song is about? And he missed the pitch on the big "friends don't ask me" phrase. Sorry. Not a fan.
He didn't miss it though...
only reason it sounded a bit like the note was off was due to the lack of instrumental, was bang on
How can you not like this? I understand that people have their own opinions. But, come on...
This arrangement is a bit different live, than it is in the musical itself. This struck me as minor in more spots than in the musical. Maybe it's that way in all the stage productions vs. the musical released last year. But, it was still epic and worthy of praise, Ramin is a musical delight.

Micheal ball 10th anniversary is better.. this isnt bad but still
Alfie boe sings this a million times better! More passion!
I think Alphie is too much of an opera singer. Yes, beautiful tenor voice but that's it.
