My dude...I'm so grateful for you. This is amazing. Just read the entire forum you have going and the progress is amazing. I've been looking for a project bike for 3 weeks now. It came down to a few, then the k100 began to win my heart...stumbled on this video, and the sound of this bike did me in. Sent it to 12 of my buddies and of course my wife, and was like "YUP! The K100 is the one!" Thanks for posting all your progress and I guarantee I'm gonna continue to follow it all. Amazing work! Amazing!
Wow! Thank you so much this is such a nice comment! I'm so happy to hear you've followed my struggles means a lot. I was exactly the same, I was looking at CB550s or R80s then the K100 kept popping up and it grew on me more and more, now I would have nothing else. Only thing to bare in mind is that exhaust is illegal lol but the right exhaust can still sound similar. What kind/model of the exhaust is that?
where you get this seat and tail section from? did you fabricate it?
Both fabricated from scratch, you can check out my forum thread for details.
Is that 4 different carburettors?
Because the bike is fuel injected they're only throttle bodies not carburettors, so only control air intake. But otherwise yes they are individual throttle bodies.

Did you rebuilt the engine at all?
I did not no, bought the bike with low mileage and well maintained so didn't seem necessary.

What was the total cost? A used k100 is pretty cheap but I don’t want to buy one if it’s going to cost me double to convert into a cafe racer.
More than double, easy. Watch The Illestrators build series and you’ll see why. Building a BMW bike unfortunately means finding a tiny rubber seal has deteriorated, and then finding that BMW charge hundreds of dollars for that part.
Hi. I see u r from the UK. Its hard in the UK got papiers on a custom build motorcicle like this? I have a k100 and i have the same plans with it but in my Country Its not allowed so they dont give me papiers and i cant use it on roads. But my plan is going to UK for the papiers when my bike is done and back to my country and then they need to allow mé using it on roads :)
I think in the UK you can just change your bike and there are no papers needed
