Hello! Delphi is a factory coil? This year 4th coil replace. Need a replace both when the first failed? Or normal that from time to time, all 8 need to be replaced?
Awesome video. I'm getting misfires on 3 + 4. Car is in storage for winter, will try deleting the codes and see what happens. If misfires still comes up now I know how to change the coils! Thanks again.
sld c63 Sounds good. When you do pull the coils, inspect them for excessive oil. If there is any oil on them, you need to replace the valve cover gaskets.
@@HelpingHandAutoRepairhey what happens if you change the ignition coils but not the valve cover gasket’s if you let’s say for example do notice the oil ?
@Enzo-tg8uo it would depend on how much oil is there to begin with. Best to just change the valve cover gaskets. You could stick a new coil in there and it might run ok for a day or a month or 5 months. It’s anyone’s guess.
@@HelpingHandAutoRepair what happens if you have misfires due to coil packs going out , but you keep driving the car for 30 miles at under 2K RPM only , obviously the loss of power will be imminent
Spark plugs are located under the coil packs. If you have oil on your coil pack boots when you pull them out. You need to replace the valve cover gasketsz
Hey! Thanks for video this will help me ALOT! Saved me extra $300-$500. I have an SL63 6.3 AMG R230. I got this exact same code and was going to buy oem ignition coil but I found mercedes OEM supplier is DELPHI and can found their same part half the price without the Mercedes name on it. Great video! :)
I have an M157 engine in a 2016 CLS63 (100K miles). Do you happen to know how different from the M156 the coil replacement procedure would be for my engine? I have P0356 code and P0300 and I take that to mean it's a bad coil. Car misfires badly on acceleration. Also, how can you tell which coil? I'm thinking to just replace them all but just interested in understanding how one could identify which coil is bad.
It’s much more involved on the 157. The 157 requires the same airbox removal on top as you can probably make out. Your engine requires a certain spark plug socket if memory serves me. I think they are smaller than a traditional socket. You will have to disconnect the spark plug connectors as well as the injector connectors. Then you will have to pull each spark plug boot and coil out. They do tear pretty easily so I would invest in all 8 coil pack boots since they c an be bought separately at the dealership or online probably too.
P0356 would be pointing directly to cylinder #6 misfire. You can try and just replace the plugs first and see if that fixes the problem but in my experience, you should replace all 8 plugs and replace that one coil pack and then delete the codes and take it for a drive and see if it returns. It shouldn’t. The p0300 is more than likely triggering because of that single cylinder misfire. So plugs, boots and one new coil pack for cylinder #6 I will also share from experience that if one coil is bad on these cars, you will start to notice others will start to go bad. For me on my wife’s CLS55 amg, it was one coil pack, the. 1,000 miles later another, and then another until I decided to just replace them all. They were about $50 on FCPEURO for OE Mercedes’l coil packs.
@@HelpingHandAutoRepair Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I really appreciate it. As I've looked into this a little further, what you've said here is being confirmed by others. I've done brakes on this car but i don't know if I'm up to changing the spark plugs. Some people are saying that they are pretty hard to get to. I just can't stand the thought of having it done at a dealership (shiver). So I'm trying to work up the nerve. 🙂
@@Scot_White I would say that this job is definitely on the higher difficulty scale for a novice mechanic. It’s definitely possible but some patience is needed and lots of swivel extensions and sockets. You can also source out a good independent mechanic who works on European cars too that will most likely be cheaper than the dealership depending on your area.
If standing in front of the car looking at the engine. Number 8 would be on the right side and the furthest cylinder away from you. The closest cylinder to the firewall on the right side (standing looking at the engine)
Really good video man! Perfectly explained the steps!
Great video. Very helpful and straight forward. Thanks!
Excellent Video 📸 Thanks

Bosch would most likely be OE. Delphi is a good company though. If one coil went bad, the others aren’t far off.
@@HelpingHandAutoRepair i saw you coil, and looks like factory because it show Amg logo.

I have a P0355 ignition coil E I cleared it it came back so I should just replace ignition coil 5 right ?
That code is pointing to that coil being bad.
Hey man what's the easiest way to diagnose if they need changing any driving symptoms??

Hey ! I hav a weak combustion in cylinder 1,5 and i suspect that the coils aren’t ok can i replace coils order to make sure what is the problem ?
Do you have a check engine light on?
Helping Hand Auto Repair No
محمد Well you should do a compression .test on those two cylinders
I did everything good !
You did what good?
Yo thanks man video was awesome well written so you think it’s my coil packs or plastic clip on back? And where are the spark plugs located???
What u guys think ??
Spark plugs are located under the coil packs. If you have oil on your coil pack boots when you pull them out. You need to replace the valve cover gasketsz
Once replaced how long before the engine light reset or turn off?
It needs to be deleted with a scanner.
Can you suggest me good web site to by coils for my Mercedes’ AMG ML63 2009 please
